Is there a strange virus going around?

This is a really odd one!
started on Friday with a very sudden sore throat. Low grade fever overnight, woke to awful muscle pains, neck ache and a general feeling of low level unwell.
Saturday felt off with a running nose and aches and pains. Kept feeling warm and waves of nausea. Overnight into Sunday stomach pains started with diarrhoea and nausea, snotty nose, shivery, headache.
Symptoms are coming and going, feel a bit better one minute then headachey and off the next. Every time I eat I get stomach cramps and loose stool. Not positive for Covid (old tests tho).

It’s the stomach issues that are unusual, it’s like a low level flu bug but with a bad stomach too.

Anyone else have this?

@ArabellaScott I’m day 9 my belly is making all sorts of noises and I feel so sick To my stomach!! It’s getting me down I feel it’s never guna end :( iv no appetite at all so I can’t eat anything I’m defo dehydrated because I’m hardly drinking cz of the sicky taste in my mouth :( got a drs app tomorrow evening but they didn’t seem like they even wanted to see me ! X

I hear you. Can you get some electrolyte drink? Just wee sips?

Yeah I haven’t tried that yet I will send my partner out to get some :( can viruses last this long ??? When I 1st had Covid that lasted around 2 week maybe just over.

It seems so. It is a weird one, though.

The first Covid i had was very stomach buggy. Maybe the doc will be able to advise.

Meanwhile try to stay hydrated. I got coconut water, smart water, and fizzy water ... try little nibbles of banana and apple if you can.

Mine was exactly like this 1 feeling sick no appetite I get hyperemsis when pregnant and this is what I’m like for 9 month :( and it knocks me for 10 I’m definitely not pregnant .. but it sure feels that way :( I’m hoping the drs can give me something tomorrow that helps with this no appetite malarkey it’s the sickness now that’s bothering me! The fever and shakes and head aches went last week so I don’t understand why Im suffering with bloody sickness now! Iv just nibbled some toast .. I was watching royal family on the tele and they had a bacon butty and I so wish I could eat it 1!!

Toast is good. BRAT diet works for post viral nausea -

I thought I was on the mend yesterday but then started with all my sinisus hurting in my face :( day 10 today 😭😭 and I feel sick this morning all my mucus is bright green and I’m so congested! I have the drs tonight at 7.30 hopefully she knows more then me 😭😭 iv really had enough x

Well, I'm still ill, but I don't feel like I'm dying anymore, so that's a plus!

I don’t feel sick at the moment but the congestion is really hurting all my head and face but my stomach is still making noises and no appetite at all :( iv just done another Covid test clear negative!! So the only other thing is flu but iv had a lot of different symptoms and I’m still not myself after 10 days so I’m very worried :(

Yeah, not great but slowly improving. (It could be different viruses, though. I don't have any respiratory symptoms).

Some viruses can last a fortnight, unfortunately. 😣

We've all (in this household) had a renewal of this or similar this weekend. Feeling low level nausea but main symptom being the need to rush to the loo with little warning

@tobee nueurovirus are however you spell it lol is doing the rounds! But think it only lasts a few days hopefully for you all :( @ArabellaScott counting the time down to go see the dr .. I’ll be upset if there’s no help because I feel like it’s never ending and never going to end I can’t remember how normal feels anymore 😭 tried to do some house work and it’s knocked me off my feet so did the shower! 🤧🤮

Yes I've heard about the current bout of norovirus but always thought it would be major vomiting and diarrhoea - perpetually on the loo with bucket on the lap! 😳 This is just a few extra trips to the loo with added urgency lol!

bug hopefully it is anyway :( have you had this bug before what I have got ? Feel like I get rid of 1 symptom and get another just like I did with Covid it’s very depressing :(

When I had noro, it was extreme. Awful, but over within a day.

I spoke to the GP today and she says there's a gastroenteritis virus going around that lasts 2 weeks.

@ArabellaScott yes I think that’s what iv got but didn’t no it could last 2 weeks when I Googled it says 3-5 days and it’s over … but I’m really struggling with the loss of appetite and congestion now but I will let you no what the Drs say soon

The mothership sent this through today; I know of a few parents and children who seem to have had extremely dramatic noro this autumn.

just got back from the drs, he wasn’t sure what virus I did have but said it’s lead to sinicitis and he’s given me a course of antibioticss! I asked when the tiredness and when I will be able to clean my house properly and he laughed and said do you want the bad news ? I said a while then he said yes can take a while :( I don’t feel sick today I just have no appetite at all so hoping it comes back in a few days .. I’m wasting away lol jokes but I miss grubbin !

Och shame, Cookie. But no wonder you feel awful, sinusitis is horrible. The meds will help, and usually pretty quickly. Rest up and take care.

This is all interesting reading for me. I came down with the bad sore throat a week ago, lasted a day or so then turned into a cough, a tickly one that kept me awake at night, and then loads of sneezing. I felt much better yesterday and so went back to work today, feeling fine. Came home tonight and after dinner suddenly had intense stomach cramps and then diarrhoea and felt dizzy. Now feel very weak but seems to have stopped. Unsure if the same virus or something else. Sounds like it might be the same virus.

@Allthesingleladiessayah I have these exact symptoms now, plus my heart is racing harder and faster too.

How are you feeling now? And has anyone else had an increase in bpm or noticed their heart racing?

A fever can raise your heart rate. Today I decided to let the fever run rather than take paracetamol to bring it down. Will see if this helps - it's the immune system trying to beat the virus, but it is unpleasant.

@Talkabtit101 I am sure mine was just plain old flu. I did covid tests twice and they were negative. I am a lot better now - two weeks later - but in my case my immune system isn’t great (I have me/cfs) so it may have hit me harder than others.

I didn’t have the heart racing thing, but the sleeping half the day, and all night, weakness , muscle pain and profuse sweating - goo! - weren’t nice! As I said I’m feeling much better now - if a bit up and down - though it seems to have messed up my circadian rhythm somewhat.

I don't seem to have a fever though.... this is the strange part. But I do keep going freezing, pop a jumper on and then I'm sweating.
