For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Hello Franny and everyone. I am new to you lot but would like to join. I have had to admit this week I am run down - currently sporting a lovely bronchitis - and possibly a little depressed. So diet (which is reasonable tbh, but not ideal - I tend to not eat lunch and stuff) seems a good place to start.

Does brisk, baby-wearing walking count as exercise? If so, that's my 10 minutes 6 to 12 times over.

FrannyandZooey · 19/04/2008 08:01

Hello bero, please join us. Diet and exercise are an excellent starting point for improving your health and mood. In theory the 10 mins exercise is meant to be something extra to your normal routine, so that you are increasing your activity levels, but we all ignore this interpret this differently as it suits us

I would think rest and diet would be your focus with bronchitis anyway - not exercise

oh I've just remembered I really should get physio - preventative - another thing on my endlessly extending to-do list. Would that count?

What is this 'rest' of which you speak?

stuffitllama · 19/04/2008 08:10

Morning everyone hello bero hello all
I've not been around much as i sit down for a brief time each time -- have time to post something silly somewhere then something happens
also haven't been very good on f and v and m slightly ashamed -- have had much baking and entertaining to do

i can't sit down now as children hovering but wanted to check in on the LOVELY new thread title which is not QUITE as good as the last one but as mrs c is happy..

also wanted to see how anorak was doing
zippi how are your walnut worktops
fran how is your stress are you working today
boco i can't do the emailing thing and so maybe i'll see your stuff by chance in real life and think how wonderful!
and hi ur and all
I have a lot of reading to catch up on everyone's news but evenings are so busy and days too it's damned annoying
hope you all have good days xx

FrannyandZooey · 19/04/2008 08:14

I am working I am a bit stressed I have found the expensive electrical equipment
I am having difficulty working out how to transport it to work
dp being slightly awkward
ds being VERY awkward
would you lot have gone on a bike carrying stuff in panniers when 29 wks pg? is it safe?

OP posts:
stuffitllama · 19/04/2008 08:27

how stable are you? I think it would be ok if you are already fit and the panniers are well balanced
yes, I would have done
have rethunk: you are all equally busy - -what's needed is time management

stuffitllama · 19/04/2008 08:29

I must admit I thought the ten minutes was supposed to be ten mintues exertion -- not quite out of puff but getting there
so not very good if you have bronchitis?

BBBee · 19/04/2008 08:32

um, i don;t know franny - i wouldn't have but I have an incompetent cervix (along with the rest of my incompetencies).

How far is it?

Are there alternatives?

How heavy will it be?

Hi bero.

BBBee · 19/04/2008 08:33

stuffit - this thread title is superior I am afraid. MrsC endorsed it and she has glamourus vegetables.

BBBee · 19/04/2008 08:35

you know FK waved to lurkers - do we really have lurkers on here?

Tnog · 19/04/2008 08:37

< peers through binoculars whilst eating a banana >

stuffitllama · 19/04/2008 08:37

lolol

stuffitllama · 19/04/2008 08:39

hi bbeee i surrender have no glam veg only raw carrots bananas and raw spinach, they keep me on target (usually)

FrannyandZooey · 19/04/2008 08:39

we have lots of lurkers, occasionally some of them email me

if you want to see if we have lurkers, offer some information that people want but isn't widely available elsewhere and give out your email address

THEN you will see lurkers
flocks of them

erm we are apparently going in the car now
thanks for advice

have had pear, raisins, pineapple, grapes

Boco · 19/04/2008 09:23

I love it when Tnog comes in, someone set a trap and make her stay - uncover the pit.

Franny don't know about the woods thing - what is it and when in May? Stowmarket is very close.

Avi I saw you did your email and now can't find it, if you see this will you tell me again, or email me on- s p o n d i e at hotmail dot com.

Fullmoonfiend · 19/04/2008 11:00

Bbee, 100 mentioned (months ago) that she had friends in my town. I jokingly asked for a clue and got one.
Had one of those weird psychic flashes where I realised I knew them. Sadly not friends (paths too different) but friendly IFKWIM...
Tis a small world.
100 and I have vowed Never To Talk Of This in order to preserve our secret MN lives from RL. Think that covers it.

I want 100 to bring JJ up so she can visit her friends and we can dog-sit

TooT, how can you think I don't love you when I am sharing my squash seeds with you!

MrsC, I have been to Cornish Tipis and it was the best family holiday. BUT I really don't know if it is 100's sort of thing, even in a clearing. There are feral squirrels remember who steal bread and knaw chopping boards.
And if the weather is pants you are trapped!

MrsCarrot · 19/04/2008 11:06

true, fmv, and I was allergic to the rabbits. I think 100 would probably prefer floorboards. Why are you trapped if it rains though? There's lots of stuff to do around there if I remember correctly.

BBBee · 19/04/2008 11:08

lol fmv - 100 would never meet any of us because she likes to think we are not real people but a figment of her imagination that talk to her on the computer.

but we are real aren't we, or are we? Are you imagining me?

Boco · 19/04/2008 11:12

I definitely made you up Bee.

Fullmoonfiend · 19/04/2008 11:14

MrsC I meant if the weather is bad in the evenings, you are all trapped in one tipi with children who will not go to sleep when all you want to do is drink wine, have sex and frolic naked round totem poles
Whereas we were blessed with beautiful weather with meant we could lounge around in the sunshine while boys explored and fished and stuff.

lullabyloo · 19/04/2008 11:16

dh is convinced you are all men anyway

Boco · 19/04/2008 11:24

Did anyone else just sense 100x twitch at 'drink wine, have sex and frolic naked round totem poles' I don't know why but I think that Anne might prefer quality napkins and a decent en suite. But I could be wrong.
