For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Someone shouted at me for my title idea on the other thread (BBB?) I know it's the mango one this week. It was just an idea. I wanted the Mango one more than anyone (see end of previous one and beginning of shiny happy one) So there.

But can we have parsley next time. Please

Glad ds got on ok today Franny. And good luck with eating faster next week I would go with the flashcards

My lovely lovely friend from Uni is on her way up here for the weekend I can't wait! She's finished work a bit early too!

Might be a bit scarce til Sunday.

Night all

MrsC I found almond milk in Waitrose if you are interested in trying alternatives. Not sure about calcium though _ does rice milk contain added calcium?

Have heard both about rice & soya milk and also soya milk preventing uptake of vits & minerals but no idea if that was propaganda issued by the milk marketing board or someone.

ahundredtimes · 18/04/2008 21:43

Oh my goodness MrsC. They look lovely. Have you been? Aren't they fab. Very Laura Ingalls Wilder.

MrsCarrot · 18/04/2008 21:44

Don't say milk marketing board on mnet, Fk, someone will leap on you to say that they were abolished ten years ago. However, then you can say that they were replaced by the milk development council who are just as bad. They have almond milk in our shop, I must look into it.

100 - lol, I don't think the cow is a neighbour as such, but the tents are on a farm. I haven't been there, well, they are all over the place, but we haven't tried them. The beds look lovely. these are the tipis.

MrsCarrot · 18/04/2008 21:44

Oh good, you like them once you get past the cow!

MrsCarrot · 18/04/2008 21:46

that is a scary looking cow though

ahundredtimes · 18/04/2008 21:47

Isn't it? Sort of angry and emaciated. Let's not look at it again.

I might be happier in there. I'm not sure I could hack the eco nights in the circus tent. I shall have to discuss with friend. I could offer to bring along kitsch things to the wooden floors to cheer her up.

MrsCarrot · 18/04/2008 21:52

they have done something funny with the lens I think, emaciated cow is hardly an advert abundant farm produce is it. You should look at the toolbar there is a whole row of them and they look even thinner.

I would go for floorboards over chintz as I like to choose how much I socialise. It does look pretty though. I might like it for a night or two.

lullabyloo · 18/04/2008 21:54

Oh they look fabulous

I want to take ds now, this minute

TooTicky · 18/04/2008 22:10

Have just realised that I get PMP - pre-menstrual paranoia. I get all worried that none of you really like me and you just pretend to be kind and then I avoid MN for a day or so and THEN I venture back and then my period arrives. So, it is just paranoia, right? [paranoid][needy]
And I have nearly synchronised so you must love me a bit [hopeful]

TooTicky · 18/04/2008 22:11

God I'm a pain in the arse, aren't I?

Monkeytrousers · 18/04/2008 22:12

AhA!

So it is YOU who comes up with all these witty thread titles every week!

Now I know..

Monkeytrousers · 18/04/2008 22:13

Is this an alternative to WWW's?

Monkeytrousers · 18/04/2008 22:13

..and are we not cheating cos we're veggie?

lullabyloo · 18/04/2008 22:16

Awwwwww Toot
you daft thing
You know we all love you

BBBee · 18/04/2008 22:16

hi monkey

um, the general idea is that we eat 10 portions of fruit and veg a week day, some of us are good at in some of us are not.

Join us, it is fun and we are nice except toot who is uber paranoid

lullabyloo · 18/04/2008 22:18
fishie · 18/04/2008 22:18

hello fruit and veg bods. i have been lurking a bit.

today i have had a lot of lettuce, some cucumber and that is about it. do capers count?

MrsCarrot · 18/04/2008 22:18

funny you say that, monkeytrousers, we were wondering if the veggie veggers amongst us should actually have 15 portions

BBBee · 18/04/2008 22:18

did i shout at pink? I think I did - I was so desperate that you use my title before I disappear back to university again.

sorry pink. I like the parsely one.

BBBee · 18/04/2008 22:20

hello fishie

do capers count? maybe, er it has to be a portion though so it would be a lot of capers. did you have any fruit too?

i love capers - what did you have them with?

100 lots orf satsumas at the market today.

TooTicky · 18/04/2008 22:21
Boco · 18/04/2008 23:42

You all stopped talking abruptly over an hour ago and everyone has vanished. It's eerie like an abandoned ship in here, with just some vegetable peelings on the floor. And a screwed up revels packet.

Hello?

UnderRated · 19/04/2008 03:59

Oh Toot, you are silly

That's what it's like round here at night,Boco. All echoey and lonely.

Have any of you actually tried the almond milk? I was going to buy some this morning but stuck with soy(a?).

I filled my mooncup today. Twice. TMI I know but it's never happened before. Usually it's only about 1/3 full. I'm fascinated by it all. [odd]

Hope you have a lovely weekend with BF, zippi. And happy birthday to DGS.

I went running. I did week 2 and it was hard. But I did it -all 30 minutes [proud] and then did weights. Have not eaten 10 today but only eaten good stuff, mainly fruit.

FrannyandZooey · 19/04/2008 07:50

morning wonderful people

sorry MrsC I forgot about arsenic. I won't see her till Wednesday I don't think so please remind me again. I am pretty sure she gives her dd rice milk and is not keen on soya milk - we have soya milk because I don't like any other sort, and ds never had that much, just a bit on cereal etc

hello Monkeytrousers and fishie - make yourselves at home. This is not an alternative to WWW's - the idea! We are unique. You don't get mooncup chat and a table of Most Neurotic Posters over at WWW's.

TooT why on earth would you think we don't like you? Who did we all rave about when we got back from the meet? Did you think we were making it up for fun?

Boco is Stowmarket near you? There's a woods thing there in May. It's probably already been mentioned on here but I am losing track of all these events
