For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

i concluded that it makes me hyper so i then need the wine to calm me down

but whether that is just me i dont know

MrsCarrot · 14/04/2008 20:21

I am back to no wine in the week. I am trying to think of it as liquid cake and I resisted when DH offered me a cold glass of Sancerre earlier. It was hard.

UnderRated · 14/04/2008 20:21

Interesting - I stopped having coffee about 3 weeks ago. And Alcohol about 3 months ago (other than a couple of glasses of wine when my mum stayed). I don't crave either any more. Only chocolate.

How long do you think it should take to help with sleep, MrsC?

Fullmoonfiend · 14/04/2008 20:21

BBBBeeeee, BBBBeeeee, score me, score me. I beg of thee. Before I eat my tea...

I hardly ever drink coffee. But I do drink too much tea.. But then I try and alternate twixt normal-i-tea and hippy-tea

FrannyandZooey · 14/04/2008 20:23

all you need is Kiki superfood
it will make you cheerful and glowy and all of that
it does NOT count for the 26 natural foods thing it has about 100 things in it

I do also take elder as I may have mentioned once or twice...plus Biocare prenatal and lactating doodah multivitamin

by the way it is TWENTY SIX not 27, I remembered it wrong
I can't link to it as it is just something anorak's doctor made up IMO
but we like it

Bee I would make loud sploshing sounds on a trampolene

I should have said, when I got to gymnastics the teacher was lovely and said she quite understood and that it was important to settle them in and if you left before they were happy, it would put them off coming, etc
I must have looked taken aback (head of gymnastics had said ABSOLUTELY no parents but just once she would make a special exception and would send a memo to the teacher to make sure it was ok )
at which point she said "I think you have to be a parent to really get how it works"
so all was well
ds was actually fine but age 4.5 (when age group for this session begins) would not have been
I remember trying to sign him up for ballet when he was 2.5 and the woman saying "well you have to leave him, parents can't stay"
the thought of him staying in strange place without me at that time was laughable. In fact I laughed when she told me. She said "well they are all at preschool at this age, they don't need you there"
the lack of imagination of some people is incredible

I don't know really, but longer than that. I don't know what else you are doing to calm down or slow whatever it is about you that can't rest or switch off, but I would, and have in the past, give up coffee as well as doing yoga/mediation, taken herbs, addressed anxieties etc. I think it took me a couple of months to really appreciate all these efforts and to unwind the coil. It could be that it took that long for the herbs to work but I think it was the combination. It's not just getting the coffee out of your system, your body has to get used to perking up and relaxing itself again. Sorry, I am rambling and probably being no use at all.

MrsCarrot · 14/04/2008 20:31

I must get this mystical superfood.

FrannyandZooey · 14/04/2008 20:35

yes you must

you know this picnic
can we really do it or is it ridiculous to ask people to come here just to eat scones in my park?
would people want to come post baby as I am not making any plans for that time
I do understand it could be less of a draw to come pre-baby and just have a guided tour around my girth though

MrsCarrot · 14/04/2008 20:37

Well I'm coming

BBBee · 14/04/2008 20:37

oh but this list is all in my head and all random and I haven't been around much lately.

FMV - I think you were above zippi but under carrot - I think I moved you up a bit because of your bangles.

see I told you it was random.

FK did very very well but that was because she told me she gave me lots of tips lately.

randomness you see.

MrsCarrot · 14/04/2008 20:38

would you want everyone post baby?

BBBee · 14/04/2008 20:38

oh oh oh I would love to come to a picnic and meet your baby. I would really love it.

we can all bring different things and share and children can run.

yes please.

TigerFeet · 14/04/2008 20:41

I rattle muchly these days

Evening Primrose Oil
Multivits + minerals
Occasional lactobacillus as have recurring fungal infections of assorted types
Chromium picolinate
Am about to add B complex as PMT seems to be worsening monthly
Kiki superfood

Not much room for anything else after that lot

alcohol is off limits atm which is not a bad thing

I need to get rid of the caffeine. I really do. One step at a time...

FrannyandZooey · 14/04/2008 20:44

no that is what I am saying, I might not want everyone post baby
I can't say, I might think it is a fabulous idea but I might not cope with anything like that, and I am not planning anything for post baby period

so would anyone want to come before then?

OP posts:
TigerFeet · 14/04/2008 20:44

oh, the thread has moved on in the time it took me to type that lot

What's all this about posting babies? Is that how we will all get to meet Franny's new Frannylet? Like a book swap, but with small children?

FrannyandZooey · 14/04/2008 20:44

Bee was I actually ON the list?

OP posts:
MrsCarrot · 14/04/2008 20:48

I thought you meant that. We need to come before and swathe around your skirts proffering tasty morsels and then you can post pics of new baby till you are up to gatherings, yes?

TigerFeet · 14/04/2008 20:50

we could daub your burgeoning bump with woad

and do a dance

or eat cake

BBBee · 14/04/2008 20:50

oh franny you were top of the list and lully was second - but I keep emphasising the randomness of it all. Subjectively who I want to be like diet wise. that is all.

Fullmoonfiend · 14/04/2008 20:51

Franny, you were the title. Drawn in purple sparkly pen, with shading and underlining and everything...

When are you due again F&Z? I would be interested in coming to a nice town to a nice park, eating nice food and cuddling nice children...cannot commit here and now, would have to look into trains and hotels and stuff.

FrannyandZooey · 14/04/2008 20:52

yyy

I mean I may say "ooh marvellous a baby slipped out please all descend on me lovely veggers"

but I am just as likely to be sobbing in corners and barking at dp

waiting to see is half the fun
oh plus you will not notice how porky I am now as it just looks like I have a wildly prominent bump

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 14/04/2008 20:53

am due July 4th
I like woad
Bee if you want to eat like me you need a LOT more cheese
and cake

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 14/04/2008 20:53

and it isn't burgeoning
it is fully burgeoned

OP posts:
BBBee · 14/04/2008 20:56

you see how badly I skim read - are we talking pre baby? Pre baby is good too. I will talk to more people and my chioldren can run around so it will not be quite so sit still-y.

FrannyandZooey · 14/04/2008 21:01

yes pre for now
I mean if people don't fancy it, I do understand
it's quite a long way and all that and not actually interesting when you get here, unlike London
but I thought I would ask as we were joking about it and then I thought "perhaps people really would come"?
it would be v nice
