For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

BBB why am I near the bottom? I don't eat that many bacon sandwiches!! I haven't had one since the last Grand Prix. Dammit it's the motor racing isn't it?!

Anyway today I have had 10 portions from kiwi, apple, raisins, plum, satsuma, radishes, celery, tomato, cucumber, pear, carrots, broccoli, parsnips. andamagnum I have also done a 25 minute run plus 10 mins walk to warm up/cool down. So there

MrsC deco style emerald ring sounds beautiful. My mum gets a silver bracelet every year when she has her check up - she's got her 4 year check up next week!

Ooh yes stuffit you asked about veg didn't you? Parsnips do go with everything else. I used to only ever roast them but didn't have time recently so just steamed them and they're still yummy. All veg was steamed tonight but I love roasting veg - any combinations but for ideas butternut squash (pain in the arse to peel but you can roast with the skin on), sweet potato, parsnips, carrots, beetroot (root type mixture), and/or peppers, aubergines, courgettes, mushrooms, tomatoes, onions (meditteratian type mixture). Genius cos you just throw it all in a big tray.

Or cut butternut squash in half and roast with stuffing (packet mix will do).

Courgette frittata - fry onion and thinly sliced courgette (I slice it on the side of my grater) add beaten egg, top with cheese and sliced tomato and grill the top.

Leftover veg is nice with pasta and tomato sauce - make into a bake - you can throw anything in.

Hope that helps Stuffit. Ha BBB I can do veg!

pinkspottywellies · 14/04/2008 21:46

I have to say re leaving children, I'd probably be a bit overly bright 'oh you'll be fine see you later' and see how she got on but for 3 years??!!

BBBee · 14/04/2008 21:49

i see your veg pink
i see your running

but i also see your magnum and the historic bacon snadwich for which you will always be remembered.

sorry.

stuffitllama · 14/04/2008 21:49

pink.. thanks.. love the idea of roasting beetroot also the squash and stuffing (the children may eat it because of the name!)
I don't roast toms with the others as they tend to make it soggy, you must have a technique.
