whymummy · 09/02/2005 16:28

hello girls

i will have to take something for pmt,i will look for the agnus cactus, thanks.
today i went out with a friend, she smokes and i asked her to give me a drag from her fag,she refused and i felt like screaming "YOU BITCH AFTER ALL I'VE DONE FOR YOU!!!! LOL how pathetic is that? thankfully i came to my senses,i'm a bit like jekill and hyde at the moment,it's been 3 weeks now surely i'll start feeling ok soon

fee77 · 09/02/2005 21:38

Hello all
PMT remedies - chocolate and smirnoff ice works for me! And a lot of it. I did have a hormonal moment yesterday, DD wouldn't eat her pancake, so i cried! And i did think "a fag will help". Luckily i got over it - and am glad i did
Fancy asking for a drag of a fag WM shame on you!!! And good on your mate for telling you where to go!

minkmama · 10/02/2005 00:09

LOL whymummy!! she truly is a good friend you're lucky you even get a visit from Dr Jekyll, these days i feel like Mr Hyde 24/7 - poor boys they're probably wondering where the hell mama's gone

cor cc, you sound worse off than me! hope it clears up! had to get ds1 a bit early today cos he had a fever and he's been tetchy all evening. he's only just settled down...

i didn't even get a chance to make a pancake yesterday fee as he just wasn't in the mood and after i went and bought an expensive lemon from M&S in panic!!

as for the agnus castus, i think you may be able to get it from big Boots stores...

personally i prefer to shout and throw things at dh night night all xx

fionagib · 10/02/2005 09:45

Yeah I know what you mean - I have BEGGED dh for a fag in the past and been furious with him for not giving me one (a ciggie, I mean).

Am SO dependant on lozenges at the mo, mouth permanently minty. Gonna cut down week of feb 21 cos work'll ease off by then.

Everyone is doing so well, aren't we clean & fragrant girls!!!! (and richer!)

whymummy · 10/02/2005 09:50

LOL fiona it's so irrational!!
minkmama i'm the same grumpy mum but it won't last and they'll have a healthy mum
how's everyone today?

whymummy · 10/02/2005 09:53

forgot to say that i like fee's pmt remedy, will try next time

fionagib · 10/02/2005 09:53

I think most kids hate their parents smoking. By age 5 or 6 my boys were aware that dh and I chuffed fags, even tho we didn't do it around them. They'd catch us lurking in the yard and we'd be all shifty & embarrassed. They still tell of dh if they see his silk cut packet.

So yes I agree whymummy - better to be slightly narky for a bit than poisoning/killing ourselves or reluctant to kiss the kids cos we stink!

whymummy · 10/02/2005 09:57

yes fiona ds was 5 when he started asking me about smoking and with all the tv commercials he was getting worried about me,i'm also hoping that because they're 7 and 4 one day they won't remember i ever smoked and it might stop them from wanting to smoke like mummy

fee77 · 10/02/2005 11:53

That's one of the reasons we stopped - DD would stare at us outside the back door fagging it like school kids. She thought it was a game - but i kept thinking, one day she is going to frag on her bread stick, copying mummy, so now we have stopped!
I do feel better for it, and certainly smell better - my comfy old fleece always smells fresh when i drag it on now. And as i said before i certainly don't miss picking up soggy old fag butts from the back yard!

charliecat · 10/02/2005 18:52

Just a quicky but isnt it marvelous to read everyone praising the fact they no longer smoke. I can feel Mr Dependance dying on this thread!

OP posts:
Posey · 10/02/2005 20:14

Glad to see you lot still keeping this thread well and truly alive. Well done for keeping going everyone.
What I wanted to know is, does anyone know where I can find that list of what happens to your body after you stop smoking. You know where it says after so many hours your blood pressure will return to normal, after x days all nicotene will be gone etc etc?
TIA

charliecat · 10/02/2005 21:07

just looked up this for you

OP posts:
fionagib · 10/02/2005 22:17

we are in hayhem cos of painter taking since mid dec to paint 3 rooms plus a titchy bathroom and am premenstrual and dh and I have had a (housework-related) row... and now we are it seems Not Speaking.

men, painters, grrr... but I still don't want a fag. off for a bath with glass of wine - night night girls xxxx

charliecat · 10/02/2005 22:22

Oh No FG Its sad isnt it? Me and dp are very much speaking after not speaking/communicating for ages.
Hes given up the fgas today. Had 1 and wont be having anymore...round of applause please.........

OP posts:
charliecat · 11/02/2005 11:12

And so far hes doing excellent...in fact id go as far to say im still more rattly than he is and ive been off the fags for 2 months and 2 weeks today. Lucky bugger.
He stopped for 3 months ages ago...about 3 years ago. without a word, just stopped and didnt rattle, didnt suffer, didnt fall apart, just stopped. Didnt smoke. had just 1 3 months into it and smoked like a trooper for another must be 3 years....
You have painters in? Surely that cant be any worse than me and dp arguing about every colour, every dripmark...OMG mass rattyness! Surely it should take about a week to do a few rooms? Only every takes us a day...oh unless dp does it by himself and he takes forever.

OP posts:
fionagib · 11/02/2005 14:14

painter is a perfectionist (how perfect can painting be???) and also complains furiously about everything else we've had done to the house which is, apparantly, crap, a disgrace, etc etc. However he finishes today yey!!! btw cc we did last paint-of-whole-house ourselves and it really was diabolical. You'd be amazed that 2 reasonably well functioning adults could make such a hash of a seemingly simple job.

great news about your dp cc! Sounds like he doesn't find it that hard to stop - as we all know it's blimmin STAYING stopped that's hard, isn't it.

am writing last chapter of book! At long long last. W'end will be so manic tho with sleepover, b'day day out etc that won't be able to get back to it till sunday night and then will need a BLOODY BIG DRINK!!!

Yum, can taste it already..... have a good friday night girls xxxxxxxxxx

fionagib · 11/02/2005 14:16

oh yeah and we are SPEAKING again. I was mad cos dh was ranting on about the state of the house, and I felt he was blaming me for it, when I have hardly left this computer all week.
