For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Franny - thank you for saying you were not always patient, that made me feel better and do you know, I hadn't thought about the coffee. Seems daft really, but I've never drunk it since I've had him and then I have two a day for over a week. I didn't have one this morning after you said that but I wanted one very much. Amazing how quickly that happens.

ES - yes, very good. I can even tell when mine is full. I have mega flow for the first day or so.

Tomato and lentil pasta sauce with fresh parsley - ruddy gorgeous. I made extra so that I could freeze some, but in theory I could probably polish it off tomorrow. I am not good at bulk cooking. The cooking I can do, but I struggle with not eating it all.

Is anyone still here? DD has a snotty ear. Any ideas?

zippitippitoes · 09/04/2008 23:10

any thing like that drinking lots of water is good

karvol is that a 10/10 thing

pinkspottywellies · 09/04/2008 23:18

Just started a thread before and moondog says might've had ear infection and burst ear drum [bad mother]

Haven't caught up with thread. Anything I need to know?!

Had lovely salad for lunch including half an avocado (had to share - friend came for lunch. Oh in fact she brought the avocado!!) Went swimming this evening Running has lapsed a bit since buying the trainers although it's to do with colds/sore throat and weather rather than the fact that I have new trainers!! Getting loads of sponsors for Race for Life. YaY!

Thanks for the fabby dress TooT. I put it on DD this morning and showed her in the mirror. She looked most non-plussed and told me take it off!!!! I'm sure she'll love it another day!!

UnderRated · 10/04/2008 02:17

Gosh, 100x disappears for a while and comes back all militant and scary. Actually it might do me some good. I have been bad.

Tigerfeet, that was fab - I back the quote of the week nomination

The boat looks fantastic.

Hope the snotty ear gets better. Sounds yuck & very uncomfortable. Don't you get banana medicine for ear problems when you are small?

My baking has gone wrong - the gingerbread muffins are too dry and the oatmeal raisin cookies won't cook and look sort of cake-like. I don't know what has happened. The only thing I am good at is baking and it seems I am shite at that today. DS seemed to think I was a good mummy though, so I shall cling to that - he ran accross the room earlier and flung himself on me. When I said, "Hello, DS, why did you jump on me?" He replied, "Because I love you, Mummy" and gave me a big kiss. My heart melted and there were tears [soppy]

Following Tooticky's cabbage and bean fest yesterday, we had one today. Was probably a bit thoughtless since we have company tomorrow. F&V count: Really Yummy Black Bean Burgers, Red cabbage & carrot coleslaw, raisins, orange, apple, banana, strawberries, olives, grapes. 10. Yay. but maybe not full portions

zippitippitoes · 10/04/2008 02:20

ah ur that is so sweet

and im sure your baking is amazing

UnderRated · 10/04/2008 02:47

Thanks zippi - the cookies look ok now. You're up late. Hope you are ok

BBBee · 10/04/2008 08:30

good morning my darlings

how are you all?

i went to see my friend last night and she loved the mooncup - which is great and we had a long chat and she is doing some work with the NHS and making them more environmentally aware and she has been thinking about getting them to encourage the use of mooncups but felt she couldn't as she didn;t have one and now she does. I think it is a fab idea as I don't think the nhs does much to promote mooncups. comments gratefully recieved.

my fv is so much better - i hit yesterday and am about to do my muesli with banana - thanks franny.

Actually had quite a 10/10 idea for my friend;s 40th - a 40 fruit salad - that would be good wouldn't it.

oh and whoever said about eating carrots thank you that really helped too.

love to all - have a beautiful day.

bee

p.s. am happy that toot ate all those burgers.

zippitippitoes · 10/04/2008 08:32

i am thinking of making today the 1st of january

40 fruit salad sounds nice and good the present worked

cant bring myself to entertain the idea tho
i cant see how it works

BBBee · 10/04/2008 08:39

admit the fruit salad is a nicer idea but she has asked me about the mooncup before and just never got round to getting one. I wsa like that zippi - never quite got how they worked then i got one and now I adore it. I do think the more people use them and talk about them the less weird they will seem - well I hope!

gardening today zips?

BBBee · 10/04/2008 08:39

zippitippitoes · 10/04/2008 08:43

stuffitllama · 10/04/2008 08:57

bbeee 40 fruit salad sounds amazing will you list what is in it

I am and that you liked my carrot tip

morning all, glass of juice (proper juice) but see you later with more xx

ladywombling · 10/04/2008 09:03

Hi all Happy Birthday to Franny's DS, have a lovely day. Hope you like your boat and medical kit!

F&V total so far 0, will do better in a minute!

FrannyandZooey · 10/04/2008 09:14

40 fruit salad would be HUGE
where would you get them all?

have had pineapple and strawberries and grapes and orange juice and raisins and bananitos (and croissants and cereal and yogurt) for birthday breakfast

we are saving boat till the afternoon, I think

have thought of fab way to display cards which always get on my nerves sitting on the windowsill gathering dust and falling over. It was our easter tree with eggs and feathers on and now is a birthday tree

back a bit dodgy. in fact much much worse since seeing physio she didn't do anything to it so it isn't her fault, but I reckon the sitting on the bus and for ages in waiting room has buggered it a bit. It seems amazingly unfair that finally getting around to going to the physiotherapist has made my back WORSE. I am grumpy about it
