For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Hello all.

Haven't got time today to catch up on the thread but wanted to post. I have been doing okay with the f&v, tis a pity it hasn't rubbed off on dcs though.

They eat enormous amounts of fruit, which I've noticed more since I started joining in with them, instead of just having coffee. But they just don't eat blardy veg. despite my best attempts at variety, disguise, bribery and indiffernce.

Sigh, sweetcorn. That is what dd will eat. ds is marginally better. He will eat courgette and sweetcorn. All our tomato sauces have carrot and aubergine in them. I want one of those phases where they wander around asking for celery and houmous. I think I'm due for one.

Today - carrot, aubergine, cauliflower, brocolli, tomato, lettace, apple, orange, plum, grapes. And went out for 20min run - gawd that was all I could do today - too tired.

Hope all other 10/10ers are vegged up and happy.

the boundaries one is the one about the 5 year old saying no
it seems to have got a bit polarised and personal on there

I think we are going to watch that film about the grizzly bear man, does anyone know what I mean? I can't remember its name

the actual bread this time is quite airy maybe because iused half white flour

stuffitllama · 13/04/2008 20:03

hi slur well done on veg
my children made do with fruit, broccoli and carrots for a very long time
wish it was the start of the evening, am further on than you and still much to do

zippitippitoes · 13/04/2008 20:04

ive seen that film

i think dp got it out of the video store for some odd reason

its a sort of documentary

FrayedKnot · 13/04/2008 20:08

Slur DS eats huge amounts of any fruit (e.g 3-4 pieces in an afternoon being normal for him, plus other fruit during the day) but has to be heavily persuaded to eat peas

Will eat carrots sometimes depending on how they have been chopped (not batons, only circles), and brocolli

stuffitllama · 13/04/2008 20:20

I found the boundaries thread. Posted my 2ps worth. Missed out the antsy bit. Hard sometimes when everyone's agreeing to say "Hang on a minute.." but you did!

UnderRated · 13/04/2008 20:28

Veg is tricky, isn't it. DS eats peas and corn. With everything. But is picky about other things. Even if I hide it in a sauce, he is rather suspicious. I do worry that he eats too much fruit but am thankful that he doesn't prefer biscuits and cake like his mother

Has there been a scare in the UK about plastic bottles & tins leaking carcinogenic stuff into the water/ food?

stuffitllama · 13/04/2008 20:34

it rings a bell UR

stuffitllama · 13/04/2008 20:43

The 5 yr old thread

pinkspottywellies · 13/04/2008 21:12

What thread Lull?

DD is having a lovely, easy, eats anything phase a the minute! Don't worry I know it won't last! Last night she ate veg and bean chilli with us, Roast today with peas and carrots, fruit coming out of her ears, radishes, cucumber, tomato etc etc. I gave her fried chips the other day and she wouldn't eat them - ignoring them for the green beans, spinach and peas!! I'm just not looking forward to the toddler bit where I'm quite sure she'll refuse everything but jaffa cakes and marmite (or whatever it is toddlers do!)

pinkspottywellies · 13/04/2008 21:12

Oh yes I read that one too.

lullabyloo · 13/04/2008 21:15

Well,ds is almost 4 & still does
Long may it last
