Weigh ins fine by me but I'd have to do mine in the evening.

Healthy snacks - I would love some ideas for sweet snacks that aren't too bad. Dry meringues aren't many calories I don't think but they are a bit like eating chalk. I like rock hard conference pears, sliced and ice cold as well.

MoreSpamThanGlam · 06/04/2008 17:56

Im soooo in.

Can we do a plan for eating tomorrow or I go right off track. Its going to be especially hard with kids off.

yomellamoHelly · 06/04/2008 18:01

Ooo me too! Stopped bfing 3.5 weeks ago. Have put on 18 pounds since. Was eating all sorts of crap and need to retrain myself before it all gets out of hand.

Smithagain · 06/04/2008 18:04

Can I join too. Need to lose more than one stone, but one would be a good start. And I need something to motivate me through the school holidays or it will all go to pot.

QuintessentialShadows · 06/04/2008 18:46

Fantastic! Good to see so many motivated folks!

I think we should do a Monday weigh in?

So it is agreed, ONE treat per week, on a chosen day (for me it will be friday), the rest should be healthy snacks!

If you are breastfeeding, you should not really diet as such, but cutting out crappy unhealthy food will have enormous benefits to your baby anyway! Maybe fruit?
Or a nice smoothie made from crushed berries and youghurt ice cream?

Popcorn is a good snack that has no calories, but I dont think meringue is particularly healthy, it is after all egg white and a ton of sugar!!

Any other ideas?

ok I will join in I really need to get this weight off now
must not keep buying or making cakes

PuppyDogTails · 06/04/2008 18:50

Make sure you drink lots of water too - it can take away any little hunger pangs which might have you heading for the biscuits

janeite · 06/04/2008 18:55

I have read that peppermint tea is very good in helping you to get over sugar cravings; so am going to try that. And no meringues!

I have a fridge full of celery, radishes etc so will take a pot to work tomorrow for when I get the munchies.

mymatemax · 06/04/2008 19:22

OH can I join please, i'm looking at holiday brochures & desperately need to loose at least 2 stone!
I HAVE NO WILLPOWER I NEED HELP!

madcol · 06/04/2008 19:25

Arabica · 06/04/2008 19:25

gymgym10 · 06/04/2008 19:27

Please count me in too! Have been in denial for far too long - alcohol is my down fall - any tips please in knocking it on the head - well at least Mon-Thurs!!

ThinWhiteDuchess · 06/04/2008 19:31

Hello, I would love to join in too please! Am currently b/f, and have put on half a stone sice Christmas because I am unable to eat just one biscuit if there is a whole packet there for me to scoff!! Would like to lose one and a half stone in total.

mymatemax · 06/04/2008 19:38

I've been blaming comfort eating BUT I know I'm just a pig!

So from tomorrow - I WILL BE THIN -

Flo23 · 06/04/2008 19:52

Count me in!

Need to loose a stone to be back to my pre pre pregnancy weight. I know what I should be doing, but lack willpower.

I dont want to look how I do, but incredibly that isnt enough to make me stop the wine and the biscuits and the nibbles...

jennster · 06/04/2008 20:30

Carrot /celery sticks and houmous?

jennster · 06/04/2008 20:32

Loads of raw fruit and veg to munch on anytime between meals and eat meals on smaller plates?

notnowbernard · 06/04/2008 20:35

I'm in, but I'm already a week ahead of you! Decided last week to impose a sugar ban. It's day 7 today... first 2-3 days were tough but it's getting easier

Haven't weighed myself, before or after

Should I?

Don't think I can let myself have a treat atm, I would be right off the wagon otherwise!

liahgen · 06/04/2008 20:48

no, I'm gonna ban treats altogether for first couple weeks, cos I have no will power.
My downfalls are cappucinos, and croissant, twice a week.!!

I have no scales though, I was 12st 6 last week before scales broke, (not me, my 2 yr old, lol)so I need to be 9 and half or 10.

Woh, long slog, I fear.

I am bf still but baby is 11 mths now, holiday 25th May.

Also, ice cold melon is good for snacking, full of water.

notnowbernard · 06/04/2008 20:56

Am making sure I drink 2ltr water a day. It fills you up, apparently.

Am drinking lots of herbal teas as well. I recommend Yogi tea (licorice flavour, naturally sweet, lovely)

Am EXTREMELY crap with exercise, don't do any. This may well be my downfall

FunkyGlassSocks · 06/04/2008 21:17

Ok. I'm going to try this. Am on a mission to cut out the sweet stuff for DD so will join in and hopefully lose a bit of weight. Had a knee op last week though so no serious exercise other than that I'm told to do by physio (which equates to torture).

QuintessentialShadows · 06/04/2008 21:36

I have no will power either. But it is easier to think "I will not have this bar now, I will have it on friday". Thinking, "I am not going to have chocolate for the foreseable future" makes it impossible. Then of course, I might be able to resist on Friday.... And say, NEXT friday, etc.

For me, I eat relatively healthily, and fairly small quantities, but I ruin it all on scoffing my self with waffles, and cakes and chocs and icecreams. It has to stop.

OP posts:
notnowbernard · 06/04/2008 21:42

I think I eat quite healthily. I don't eat processed foods, eat lots of fruit and veg. Should probably eat less red meat though.

My problem is sugar. I can go without, but once I have a bit THAT'S IT. Can't just have 1 biscuit, 1 bit of choc etc etc. Have got into the habit of eating ot every day

Am not overweight but have noticed recently I'm getting spotty, trousers are getting a bit tight... stopped bf about 3m ago, too

Could probably do with losing 1/2 a stone

PuppyDogTails · 06/04/2008 21:46

Blimey there's a lot of us who have recently stopped bfing

MascaraOHara · 06/04/2008 21:48

Hi guys, I'm not joining but have recently lost 10lbs in 5 weeks by doing what you guys are doing so it can be done.

GOOD LUCK!!!

Overall I've changed my eating habits permenatntly I think.. hoping to shift another 5lbs through April then maintain my weight.

Again, good luck... also home made veg soup is a brilliant lunch with a couple of crispbakes or a pack of elba toast.. filling too.
