FunkyGlassSlipper · 24/04/2008 19:45

I've done well today with my one allowed snack (although it was a scotch pancake instead of a rich tea biscuit). I'm about to have dinner and DH is out so I have to make sure I dont get the munchies later as still allowing no food after dinner (even though I eat late).

notnowbernard · 24/04/2008 21:25

Don't know what's been going on for me but I've been ABSOLUTELY STARVING for the last 2 days

Haven't given in to sugar but have been tempted...

Have eaten a lot of carbs instead though in an effort to feel full

And now dp is sitting eating dd2's Lindt gold bunny

Can't imagine I've lost anthing this week... will be weighing on Sunday

ingles2 · 24/04/2008 21:46

I'm starving too Notnowbernard ...
and I've snacked constantly today, all good stuff (apart from the snack a jack I've just eaten)
I wonder if my period is due......(they're a bit messed up at the mo hence the reason I don't know)

notnowbernard · 24/04/2008 21:50

Yes, I too have a most irregular cycle. Though period was due last week but has come to nothing

Maybe it will arrive soon, hence the hunger...

When I'm hungry I really crave carbs (bread, crackers, pasta especially)

And once I start grazing I do find it dificult to stop

ingles2 · 24/04/2008 22:09

you are not alone on the grazing thing Notnowbernard!
Just wondering what I can eat now...

marmadukescarlet · 24/04/2008 22:18

I cleaned out my DDs rabbits (feeling very sorry for them, now I know they are all up the duff and were when I got them 3 weeks ago, they are only babes themselves!) as a displacement activity just now to stop me eating.

I could get thinner and have a tider house if this carries on, result!

I haven't been downstairs all evening in the vain hope I won't empty the cupboards.

ingles2 · 24/04/2008 22:20

It gets easier Marmaduke!
(a little bit... sometimes )

notnowbernard · 25/04/2008 10:58

Just done the weekly shop so loaded the trolley with bland healthy snacks:

pumpkin seeds
corn cake thingys
unsalted nuts
some dried fruit

Did buy some really lovely looking posh (ie, bloody expensive) cereal in a tub... filled with chopped nuts and seeds etc. Plan to have it for breakfast with natural yogurt. Will make a change from crappy cornflakes and might fill me up a bit more... you never know!!

ingles2 · 25/04/2008 11:53

I'm very
according to my £2.99 Woolworth scales I've put on 4 lbs this week!
can't be right because
1/ I've starved myself!
2/ I've had no wine or choc since last weekend and weighed myself on Monday
3/my tape measure says everything is another 1/2 inch smaller
4/ All my clothes are looser and the dress I tried to get into at the start of this and couldn't zip past my waist now zips and fits
Am I kidding myself or is there something wrong with my v.v.v. expensive scales do you think?

notnowbernard · 25/04/2008 11:59

Ditch the Woolies ones!!!

marmadukescarlet · 25/04/2008 13:23

ingles, it's the cheap scales!

As you hadn't had scales for a while I would go with the measuring and clothes, I think that is a really positive way.

funnypeculiar · 25/04/2008 13:55

Ingles - I'm (hoping) you were wearing clothes in woolies - which makes the whole thing totally inaccurate
Marmadukescarlett - we were near Tavistock - about 20 mins inland from Plymouth, on the edge of the moor. My mum has a cottage dilapidated wooden shack there & we try and get down 2/3 times a year - I love it - blissful & quiet.

So far, so good today (not so great yesterday - I'm hoping my period will turn up soon & sort my cravings out too!)

Tickle · 25/04/2008 22:22

I actually tried on a swimming costume in the sales today, and dared to open the changing room curtain to look in the big mirror. Now that's what I call progress!

Still looked awful, but it was the suit as much as me this time

Well done, keep going everyone

midnightexpress · 26/04/2008 21:35

Glad to see you're all still here . Haven't had time to read through the whole thread yet, but I hope everyone's doing well.

I'm back online again after the move, but am ashamed to say that all my good work got lost in the move, and I have been merrily eating all manner of nonsense for the last week and a half. But, my confessional sisters, I hereby repent and promise to step straight back onto the waggon on ... erm ... Monday?

hairtwiddler · 27/04/2008 09:55

I'm still here too, although this thread dropped off my 'threads I'm on' suggesting I haven't posted for a few days.
Still managing one 'treat' per week and not craving sugar any more. Feel like I may be eating more at meals though! I suspect I've lost a wee bit of weight but if I want to shift some more will need to address portion sizes and not have seconds. I don't find that easy! Managed to do 30mins on the exercise bike three times this week too.

notnowbernard · 27/04/2008 20:26

I had a hard week in resisting the sugar and thought I had compensated for this by eating a lot

But weighed myself today and have lost another 2lb so am now 10st exactly

Motivation levels are on the up again

Well done everyone else

Tickle · 28/04/2008 08:18

Congrats notnowB!!

I had a bit of a bad weekend... dd1 went to her first horse show on Sat (bless!) - but there were fresh donuts - so I couldn't resist Only one though, and still no chocolate.

Then our rhubarb is up in the garden, so I made a rhubarb crumble with custard for dessert last night. Ooh it was luvverly

Intend to be much better today!

MegBusset · 28/04/2008 08:41

Hi all. I was a bit naughty yesterday (malt loaf in the afternoon, a few chocolates after dinner) but I didn't have a treat on Friday. That was the first chocolate I've had in three weeks and tbh it didn't taste that great. The malt loaf was lovely, though!

Anyway, although I have been good this week, I haven't lost very much now 9st 5 3/4lb so 3/4lb down on last week. Am off to stay in a caravan for a few weeks so hopefully some bracing walks will help burn more off.

ingles2 · 28/04/2008 13:12

Well done everyone...
I had some malt loaf the other day Meg, 1st time in years and it was delicious!
Mind you would happily eat some rhubarb crumble too.
Have been down and despondant the last few days after my scales incident. Have also been very hungry. All explained by arrival of period yesterday...not going to weigh myself till it gone as I can feel I'm carrying an extra 2lbs on each boob! (at least)
am sitting here eating a ryvita and a slim a soup when really I want a doughnut.
Have a good week x

trulymadlydeeply · 28/04/2008 19:19

I might be dim, but I've noticed for the first time that I really crave sugar in the week before my period.

As a result I really haven't done very well this week, as I've given in to my craving - still not eating as many snacks as before I started this challenge, but it's been REALLY difficult this week, and I think the sugar craving is why.

Where's the wagon so I can run to catch up and climb back on?

FunkyGlassSlipper · 28/04/2008 19:32

I've done well today (no snacks) after a weekend full of takeaways and mars bars .

I am 1 lb heavier than when I started however other people's weight loss is my motivating factor.

Will try lots and may be easier as DH is away for a few nights.

Tickle · 29/04/2008 08:28

I sympathise TMD! Maybbe next time you could find lots of healthier snacks and have them to hand in that week...

I bought a packet of frozen mango pieces & tipped some out this morning before taking the kids to school, and there was a sugary little bowl waiting for me when I came home Very sweet... and certainly hit that sugar craving spot!

Keep going everyone - this it the tough bit, when the novelty has worn off, and we start slipping back into old habits

Titter · 30/04/2008 07:17

well done to the loses and Come On! to the gaines
