Don't worry Quintessential.. you've got to eat when you're ill. Try again when you're feeling better.

ingles2 · 17/04/2008 21:06

Oh, came on to say I have never wanted anything in my entire life as much as I wanted some Ikea meatballs and chips I salivated all the way round.
Thank God tomorrrow is treat day

QuintessentialShadows · 17/04/2008 21:11

Thanks Ingles!
After 2 weeks here I am beginning to miss certain foods. Ikea meatballs is one, ready made pasta penne from Sainsbury another, and M&S Pesto pasta salad....

How's everyone doing? I've had a rough day at work and am absolutely shattered. Can't decide whether to have a treat now, or to save it for later in the weekend. I can't really face going to the shop so I think I'l hold out for a slice of cake in a nice cafe somewhere.
Lots of healthy stuff today - bran flakes with sultanas, veg burgers with salad for lunch, tuna pasta with olives for dinner. Snacked on banana, pear, and seeds.
There were chocs at work today and I didn't crave them! That must be a breakthough, right?
Have a great weekend everyone!

loobs2 · 18/04/2008 20:07

Listen everyone, don't for goodness sake cut out every treat that makes life worth living! If you do you'll end up craving, craving, craving till eventually you cave in and eat anything and everything yummy you can lay your hands on! Maybe cut down on the 'naughties'and have healthier snacks instead, get lots of exercise, don't have 2nd helpings at dinnertime and see how you go!

FunkyGlassSlipper · 18/04/2008 20:40

I've decided to wait until Monday when DD goes back to pre-school. Starting again in earnest then. I must have been mad to think I could achieve anything whilst in holiday enetertainment mode.

notnowbernard · 19/04/2008 08:59

Slipper, sorry you're struggling Starting next week sounds like a good plan

For me, I HAVE to cut sugar out completely or I crave, crave and crave it... It's been bloody difficult but now I'm nearly 3 weeks in the cravings are DEFINITELY less

AND... I weighed myself yesterday and I've lost 2lb! So am back to what I started at (having gained 2lb in the first week)

Didn't eat enough yesterday as I was very busy at work. Literally wasn't time to eat

Had cornflakes, cheese and cucumber baguette with side salad and nothing else until I went out for a luvverly Indian meal in the evening (So made up for it then)

Hope everyone else is ok

Tickle · 19/04/2008 13:26

Having a rough day today - just feel like bursting into tears at the slightest thing. No patience with the children either.

It's a lovely sunny day, and I can only think it is hormonal, as I felt fine yesterday. Some chocolate would go down a treat I've had a bowl of special k instead...

ingles2 · 19/04/2008 13:52

How funny Tickle ,...I feel exactly the same. In fact have been crying for stupid reasons since I started a row with dh last night
Well, on the bright side I weighed myself this morning and have lost 3 lbs this week, I think in total so far I've lost 5 or 6lbs...it'll be harder now I think, that was just my wine belly.
It's getting to the point I'm actually enjoying what I eat...I definitely feel better for not having all that choc/bisc/crisp/wine regardless of any weight loss and I'm not having 4pm slumps which is fantastic.
Going to have to keep this healthy eating up long term.
The weird thing is, I feed dc's a really healthy, nutritious, freshly cooked, organic diet and then have sneakily stuffed myself with crap.
DC's are back to school on Mon, so it will hopefully be easier for everyone. Keep up the good work and have a treat or two on me x

MegBusset · 19/04/2008 16:31

Well, I weighed myself this morning and was actually the same as on Monday -- I blame last night's big bowl of pasta which must have still been in my tummy!

I am feeling pretty good though, I'm not craving sweet snacks and managing not to drink every night. I have been out walking a lot with the buggy and my legs feel super-toned. I'm at a loss as to how to recover my pre-baby flat stomach, though

I haven't had any treats since we started this, I'm a bit all-or-nothing when it comes to sweet stuff so I'd rather avoid it altogether for a while.

Mushroom risotto for tea tonight, and a glass of wine

Tickle · 19/04/2008 20:07

Tomorrow is another day ingles - let's hope we feel a bit better

Well done everyone - keep it up!

ingles2 · 20/04/2008 12:08

Not good!
I've managed to polish of most of a bottle of wine this weekend...
Feel really bloated and fat!
Serves me right and I'll try harder today.
Everyone else ok?

hairtwiddler · 20/04/2008 19:25

I'm doing ok. Had a lovely treat today in a cafe - won't share what it was or you'll all want one! I really enjoyed it, and probably more so because I wasn't thinking, 'I've eaten nothing but junk all week and here I go with another cake'! I'm pretty pleased with how I'm doing with this. I'm not sure I'm doing enough to shift the excess stone I'm carrying though, but I do feel healthier.
Our bathroom is finished so it's back on the exercise bike for me tomorrow morning.
Keep it up folks!

SimpleAsABC · 20/04/2008 21:28

I wanna join! Hol in may, have already posted on another thread, hoping posts will keep me motivated!

Tutter · 21/04/2008 08:11

ok weighed in this morning

after 1 week.... 4lbs down

MegBusset · 21/04/2008 08:45

That's great, Tutter!

I have lost 2lb this week

ingles2 · 21/04/2008 10:43

Oh well done Tutter and Meg!
Told you I was an all or nothing girl...after the wine I had cake, brie and chocolate!!!!
Oh well, have started again today, but I'm not going to bother weighing as I know I've put a couple of pounds back on.
Have a good week everyone
x

ingles2 · 21/04/2008 14:40

Do you know what.. I didn't realise you have to burn 3500 calories to lose 1 lb.

FunkyGlassSlipper · 21/04/2008 14:52

Wow, well done for losing weight. I am starting again in earnest today. However I am creating my own gentler rule so I dont keep failing. Then I will make it gradually harder iykwim.

So, from today I will allow myself 1 treat per day and NO food after my evening meal. Doesnt sound like much but the evenings will be very hard.

I have had my 'treat' of ONE rich tea biscuit this morning .

Now, I promise not to pick at the DDs dinners and no snacks after my own dn=inner tonight.

MegBusset · 21/04/2008 16:56

FGS that sounds like a good idea. Re: post-dinner, I have got a stash of fat-free yoghurts in the fridge, which are a good back-up for when the sweet craving after dinner gets too much!

hairtwiddler · 21/04/2008 17:05

Reporting in! Well done on the weight loss folks. I have no idea about that since I banned scales from my house! I feel well though, and will probably do some waist/thigh etc measurements tonight.
A good and bad day. I stayed in bed this morning as just couldn't face my exercise bike. Otherwise have had another day of healthy eating. Made some hoummus, munched on yoghurt and seeds, and have a veg loaded cottage pie in the oven.

loobs2 · 21/04/2008 17:43

ingles2, best look at it the other way - i.e. you need to eat an extra 3500 cals to put on another lb!

Tickle · 21/04/2008 19:38

We don't have any scales, but I put on a pair of trousers today that I haven't worn in a while, and definite space around the waistband

My dad is visiting, so went to the ice cream shop with the family for a treat - had one myself... made me feel quite bloated actually. Otherwise I've been pretty good!

Keep it up everyone
