For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

oh Toot, I'd rather do 100 locks by myself than go through one afternoon like that! It is so draining isn't it? (I lose my temper at times like that )

You get the Mrs Agnes Golightly rosette (cunningly fashioned from some of my excess cabbage) for triumph in the face of adversity

littlerach · 06/04/2008 18:14

TooTicky, dh has just coem back form Lacock with the girls, and says it snowed really heavily.
But none here since this morning (6am ish to be precise).

Stalker emoticon we must have driven alomst past you last weekend, as we went through your village to go to Avebury.
Dh always drools over the huge houses.

BBBee · 06/04/2008 18:30

my period started.

This explains the fat feeling and being pised off with myself feeling.

The car keys stories are just - I hate those kind of things. can relate to them - especailly the arguing throwing one - dp once threw his wedding ring into a canal.

FMF - I met a boat inspector at dinner once -he was more interesting than he sounds and then I looked at his wife's books and loads of them are set on canal boats!

FrannyandZooey · 06/04/2008 18:51

lettuce, beansprouts, tomato, cucumber, avocado, black-eyed beans

I ate a load of crap between that and breakfast, though

have just heard my inlaws are coming to stay in 6 weeks
at which point I will be about 34 weeks pg
presumably they will want to come back again when the baby is here?
they don't help at ALL when they are here
why are they coming? I don't want them to come. Why has dp said they can come?

Hulloooo

Jolly chilly isn;t it?

Am reeling at the car key incidents..MrsC what an eventful time. I hope it managed to be restful as well at some point!

LL when she died in the cave in the English Patient

Franny the party & cake looked tremendous. Hope the boat painting went well in the snow.

We have been out for lucn today and seen friends and generally a lazy Sunday...the best sort. But I did an hour in the gym this morning and have persuaded DH to join too, hoorah! He is dreadfully out of shape.

F&V not great though

FrayedKnot · 06/04/2008 19:02

Oh dear Franny

Can;t you put them off?

BBBee about the weight thing. If you truly stick to 10/10 every day for a while I think you will lose weight. I did to begin with and now I have settled at a new weight which is 1/2 stone lighter than I was before. My reasoning is that I am so full when I properly eat 10/10 I hardly have any room for anything else.

For e.g. instead of bsicuits / cake for a snack I eat fruit. Lunch is salad or soup... Supper is based round lots of veg and maybe not bother with potatoes and have other root veg instead, or have a smaller portion of rice / pasta and more veggies.

I agree wholeheartredly about not cutting out fats...they help you feel full.

eternalstudent · 06/04/2008 19:23

I am seriously fucked off.

DH is going out in a few weeks to some club night which he says he isn't going to come home from and is going to go and see the last fball game of the season the day after and come home after that.

This makes me angry in itself but he has given me warning so he can have that one. What he cannot have is telling me I've been out 'loads' recently and he can think of 'at least 50' occasions where he's been left with the baby.

HA! Right. When he's managed to fit this into his schedule of being away at college all week and fucking off to the fottnball every saturday for 7 hours I don't know.

He must have been looking after her EVERY saturday night for the last year whilst I live it up. Hmm.

So angry.

BBBee · 06/04/2008 19:28

well we went to garden centre today and they have loads of stuff and ds has decided he wants a snake REALLY REALLY wants one.

what shall I do?

I am scared but maybe I should be a bit more gerald durreal about it all

UR / anyone - what do you think?

would post board wide but thought I would try you first.

FrannyandZooey · 06/04/2008 19:42

student what would you like to happen? would you like to go out more while he looks after dc? or would you like him to do more generally? or would you like to feel more appreciated, or something else?

I hate that thing where you are both vying for 'I am worst off' 'No I am'. And we all know that we OBVIOUSLY are worse off and they are just making it up

Bee I love snakes but they are a LOT of work, really, and they need very careful handling and expensive equipment and you have to feed them vile things like frozen dead chicks all the time
I would suggest they are more a pet for a dedicated teenager than a child
but if you love them as well it could be a fab new hobby?

Hello I haven't had time to read in curses
but hope you are all ok
I don't like to blither when I don't even know what's going on so I'm coming back tomorrow or Tuesday
but I have had a chance to look at the cake -- it's fabulous (WAS fabulous I guess )
and zippi I hope you had a nice weekend
but must be away to iron
hope you guys have a good start to the week

xx

FrayedKnot · 06/04/2008 21:32

Oh dear ES

Do you go out? Do you want to?

I must say I didn;t really want to go out much when DS was tiny. But I didn;t like it when DH went off to do things, I found the thought of being "abandoned" difficult, I used to panic about coping....and being on my own with DS for long periods.

I'm not sure why. I don;t really feel like that now he's older.

BBBee..I know nothing about snakes but generally I think it is easy to underestimate how much cost / energy / responsibility there may be involved with pets of any kind.

UnderRated · 06/04/2008 21:34

Fabulous cake

I think I have to follow Avi's advice and cut out sugar - I have a problem with it too. And refined carbs. I barely eat any now but if I give in then I find it hard to stop I think it is all or nothing for me. And I still have not lost weight so am hoping this will help. Exercise would too but well, I'm lazy and feel too flabby to exercise, which is stupid, I know. But everything wobbles. And it is such an effort. [horrendously lazy]

I've been to the suburbs today. It made me homesick.

at the key stories, especially poor Mrs C's. And what a wonderful peacekeeper you must be, Toot.

ES, I'd probably be annoyed too. What do you want him to do? LOL @ "...we all know that we OBVIOUSLY are worse off"

Bee, I think snakes could be fascinating. I would not chose one but would probably allow DS to have a small one. I think you really need to know what you are doing with them tho - ex used to work at a Vet's and whenever they treated snakes it was usually because they weren't being cared for properly.

FrannyandZooey · 06/04/2008 21:54

Goodnight chaps

any ideas for titles gratefully received
this one was partic popular wasn't it?
xx

OP posts:
Quattrocento · 06/04/2008 21:57

I love your titles - all of them - you clever things.

But tell me, do you think a yellow polka dot zucchini is really safe to eat?

FrannyandZooey · 06/04/2008 21:59

I want another Smiths one tbh
I have thought of a mango related one:
"When you say it's going to ripen now...
well when exactly do you mean?
Cause I've already waited too long
And all my hope is gone"

but probably only Tatties will like it and I should probably just shut up about mangoes anyway

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 06/04/2008 21:59

Quattro it never did us any harm
it was only a teeny weeny one

OP posts:
FrayedKnot · 06/04/2008 22:04

Inspired, F&Z

You forget there are other Smiths fans lurking

FrayedKnot · 06/04/2008 22:05

Although no-one will know it's about mangoes..it could be about avocados or even tomatoes

So I think you are off the hook

FrannyandZooey · 06/04/2008 22:06

oh yes I did forget
I think there are actually a few of us on here aren't there?
it doesn't exactly make a catchy title though does it?

although maybe just the first two lines....

hmm

must go dp is standing in doorways

Hello .

My sister got married yesterday and it was all lovely .

Have skimmed thread. I too would prefer to weigh less as I made the mistake of weighing myself and am also finding clothes I bought last year are getting too tight. This is Not Good.

I am KST (not Kirsten Scott-Thomas though, but they are my initials ).

TooTicky · 06/04/2008 22:21

Bee, is it possible to get a vegetarian snake? The day-old mice and chicks would just be beyond awful.

UR - wish I was a good peacekeeper, then ds1 wouldn't hit ds2 in the first polace. Happens a lot and
