For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

90% sure it isn't is not very reassuring is it? Are they doing anything to rule it out completely?

eternalstudent · 04/04/2008 20:22

They said that if it was anyone else they would keep her in, but as were so sensible (chokes on own tongue) we could take her home under close obs.

It's just a nasty viral thingy, I'm sure she'll be fine. Just a bit of a shock.

UnderRated · 04/04/2008 20:24

Yes, very scary. Hope she is much better in the morning.

FrayedKnot · 04/04/2008 20:25

ES...what happened to DD then? Did your DP have to take her in as an emergnecy today?

UR cleaning

Nonono.. in those halcyon days of DS napping after lunch, I never did anything apart from wander the interweb and drink tea

God I miss it! Make the most

UnderRated · 04/04/2008 20:29

Yes, FK. I am still sitting here with a cup of tea and the interweb. So no cleaning. Plenty of time for that later

eternalstudent · 04/04/2008 20:34

No, she's been off colour a few weeks days - coldy, temp etc.

Got home from nursery on Thurs and put her in the bath and noticed she had quite a strong spotty rash. Immediately thought it was Cpox, rang M for advice etc etc, decided to take her to Dr in morn as she was ok in herself, he freaked out and said to take her to A&E where DH then sat for 5 hours whilst they prioritisied..... and prioritised......

when I rang down on an internal phone she was miraculously seen 10mins later!

TooTicky · 04/04/2008 21:03

Omg ES, poor you and poor poor dd!!! I hope she picks up soon and doesn't have to go back to that hospital hellhole.

Idris - they are yours!! I will email, unless you email first...

I am eating superlatively well today. I shall boast later

stuffitllama · 04/04/2008 21:06

hello all,
es hope your dd is better soon, how horrible to have a doctor freaking out -- must have been v nerve-wracking
UR more cleaning? your house must be all loverly and magaziney by now
fra did you have the party, is it tomorrow
We've had a good no screen day today with swimming, tennis, trampolining for children (not no screen for me of course -- not on your nelly) and hardly any antsiness
an orange, a carrot and two servings of tom, lettuce, cucumber salad, not good but will have another couple of carrots before bed

TooTicky · 04/04/2008 21:12

Idris, I have emailed you

pinkspottywellies · 04/04/2008 21:13

Poor dd ES Hope she picks up.

Franny I got very excited about the pink sparkly playdough!!

DD is sleeping for about 2 - 2.5 hours in the day at the moment which is marvellous! She's only had half an hour for about 6 months so it's a revelation to have time in the day!

I ate quite well today. Raisins, nuts and seeds added to my alpen, dried apricot, half a pear, orange juice, banana, baked beans, apple, big bowl of chicken soup with carrots, onions and potato, plum. Not bad for me. Feeling poorly again so haven't exercised again I never used to get ill. I've been really run down with colds a lot this year. Must eat more veg!

stuffitllama · 04/04/2008 21:14

Toot are you eating flower

stuffitllama · 04/04/2008 21:15

x-posted!

UnderRated · 04/04/2008 21:19

Nah, Stuffit, my house has just been a tip recently so it is taking a lot of work to get it back into ship shape.

I have 1 carrot which was going to be used to make coleslaw but I am tempted to make carrot cake instead

Franny hasn't been around today - is she ok? Or is it party day?

stuffitllama · 04/04/2008 21:23

I thought it was party day today but became a bit foggy about it

UnderRated · 04/04/2008 21:24

Oh, Franny was here this morning.

FrannyandZooey · 04/04/2008 21:31

good lord no I have not been around I was working and then there was a power cut for 1.5 hours and then I have been baking fairy cakes all evening
to start with I was doing it in the dark
by the time I finished (2 mins ago) I was so stupid and tired I have performed atrocities in the name of baking
any competent cook would be ashamed of me, but I think I have 16 passable ones and can bodge the rest together with chocolate or something - I am putting one in each party bag with chocolate initial on, as nicked from Lully, and I have made about 50 tiny weeny ones for the party also which I have mostly just burnt. I do loathe our oven. But anyway HOORAH I can sit down and whinge at you lot, and tomorrow I only have to do biscuits and sandwiches and veggies and the BIG CAKE which I am crapping myself about actually, being such a crap cook as mentioned before, but ds is very forgiving thank god

how is everyone anyway?

student am gobsmacked to hear about dd. I hope she is really on the mend now and am very sorry for you all at how sudden and upsetting it was.

I have had 6 clementines in the name of cold control. Plus big salad for dinner - odd leaves, cucumber, black eyed beans, avocado, tomato, beansprouts.

pink I mean you

OP posts:
UnderRated · 04/04/2008 21:40

Am sure the fairy cakes are lovely. What will the big cake be?

FrannyandZooey · 04/04/2008 21:43

It's just a sponge and it has lemon curd and cream in the middle, and a kind of limey cream cheese topping, and blueberries on the top
I did it last year and ds loved it and still remembers its glories
I am really NOT a natural baker so it is very nervy for me - obviously it is a big thing as a focal point of the party, and most people have very posh cakes in the shape of things, so I feel a bit self conscious already

UR is your snake one new? i don't think I'd seen that one before?

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 04/04/2008 22:02

wwe have got a new futon
is is twice as fat as the old one on which we have been trampling and sleeping for 5 years
it was like an old rock and I was finding it not comfy to say the least
the new one feels like clouds or candyfloss
I know TooT will understand if I say that it is fit for Edward the Booble

people if you have an old futon GET SHOT OF IT
they are the pits

UnderRated · 04/04/2008 22:07

No, snake one is old. Was a practice one to get colours right for DS's Thomas cake. And testing a recipe, which was rubbish. Your cake sounds delicious.

New beds are wonderful.

FrannyandZooey · 04/04/2008 22:09

oh well I liked the snake very much, I had overlooked it before

I think I need to go and lie down on my new bed now for quite a long time

xx to everyone
