For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Welcome back Avi from migraine land and welcome back Franny from outside with your nose against the window Nice to have you back properly too fullmoonfiend.

Been shopping but can't bring myself to buy much f&v from Tesco. Need to go to the market this week and stock up for a third of the price!

Throat is still sore. I'm debating whether to go to the doctors. I slept for half an hour this afternoon which is totally unheard of in the pinkspotty house. I hate sleeping in the day.

I'm off to bed now with a hot chocolate and a doughnut

Thinking of you Wombling. Love to MrsC too if you're lurking.

TooTicky · 25/03/2008 22:15

Pink WHERE have you been shopping young lady? You are aware that Tesco in China behead turtles in-store? Boycott at once please!

TooTicky · 25/03/2008 22:17

I am a Bad Mother. Ds2 said he was ill this morning but I took him to school (to be fair, he was quite perky, just insistent that he was ill). Anyway, when I picked him up he was white, hot and shivery, shiny-eyed - he has slept nearly all evening and not eaten anything.

ahundredtimes · 25/03/2008 22:32

Oh dear - not much luck on the new thread.

Wombling, I hope your ds is okay. Let us know how it goes.

Franny - don't be sad. Get some sleep. I feel like that quite often, that NOTHING happens unless I make it happen, and I'd like someone else to be in charge for a bit please.

Um. There was quite a lot about beer and, Toot! I remember now, hope ds2 is better soon too. I still haven't sent shoes, sorry, will do this week. Well done Zip's dd for glamorous sounding job.

I have two stories:

  1. DS2 and I in supermarket this morning. DS2 'shall we get a mango?' 'Hmm, I worry they might be cunting mangos from here' DS2: 'what mangos?' Me: 'shunting mangos they are um, shunted off the boat' DS2 'Oh'

That was ALL YOUR FAULT Fra.

  1. Puppy classes this evening. Sort of boring and interesting all at once. JJ was a star [preen] and Mike said 'that's the way to do it, like that, like Jonathan Tete, calm and firm, like that.'

[bows]

TooTicky · 25/03/2008 22:36

Oh sorry Wombling, I missed that!! Hope ds perks up very soon!

Hello 100x I'm just off tro havbe a bath.

TooTicky · 25/03/2008 22:36

But with less consonants.

UnderRated · 26/03/2008 00:27

lol @ Franny's Egyptian toilet. Hope you feel less overwhlemed in the morning.

Zippi, that's fab news about your dd1.

Oh goodness, ladywombling. How scary, I hope he gets better v soon.

Glad JJ's class is going well.

Strawberries, melon, grapes, tomatoes (lots of), um. That's it. Ooops.

Hope tomorrow is a good day for everybody. It's sad to see everyone feeling miserable

BBBee · 26/03/2008 00:45

This was good.

She took me out for a meal and I had a lavendar parfait for pudding. It was wonderful - better than I imagined and I was imagining good.

BBBee · 26/03/2008 00:47

oh and I must say I adore the people franny bought the house from. I really think they are great - I bet they were really straight on the outside but they have this crazy house that is like something from a roald dahl story.

how wonderful!

UnderRated · 26/03/2008 01:07

Oh, BBBee, how lovely to read your post. It made me feel all smiley. WHat a lovely day. Lavender parfait sounds yummy. I love lavender.

FrannyandZooey · 26/03/2008 08:11

Bee you would love them, they have moved round the corner and they have an orange tree in the garden (I mean, an ordinary tree they have painted the trunk orange) and the lady wears purple all the time and big eighties hair - she is fab.

I have slept Bee I DO sleep - but ds wakes us at 5.45 and I am running out of plans to stop him except bribery

I am in a complete black cloud today. Hopefully it is the body adjusting to sobriety.

I also have to go to my shit job today (as opposed to the slightly less shit job I do on other days) which should be a roight larf.

Blueberries so far and will go to the olive place in town for lunch which is health as far as the eye can see.

Do pulses count as veg?

Hopefully I will be full of the joys f spring later.

IdrisTheDragon · 26/03/2008 08:37

Hello. At work (three days left). Eating fruit salad.

Going to drink pink grapefruit juice.

Going out for lunch.

Going to do some work.

Am losing my memory. Put ipod down somewhere last week. No idea where it is. Forgot to bring main oyster card with me today (having tidied out my handbag this morning, presumabley having tidied it out somewhere too). No idea where my keys are (am using spare ones, although I blame DH for that one).

Is there any hope for me?

BBBee · 26/03/2008 09:37

idris - that is all perfectly normal for one whose brain is occupied with more philosophical thoughts.

count yourself lucky that there is no room for the mundane in your spiritual brain.

IdrisTheDragon · 26/03/2008 09:40

That is a good way of looking at it BBBee .

Not entirely sure how philosophical my thoughts are, but they could well be.

BBBee · 26/03/2008 09:42

tish pish - of course they are!

BBBee · 26/03/2008 09:51

greeny - thinking about you and ds

Boco · 26/03/2008 11:24

Hello Veggers

Hope Womblings ds is better today, any news?

My day started out not so good but it's nice now. DD2 had croup all night AGAIN - that's about the 4th time this year, feeling a bit fuzzy headed after steaming her at 3am. Had my 4th driving lesson. Began by stalling and rolling backwards down a hill, then made a series of stupid mistakes, lots of lurching and grinding. And the lesson ended with me thwacking the wing mirror along a whole line of parked cars. But the nice instructor said that it was a terrific lesson and all the mistakes were tiny ones but the all progress was huge, so went from feeling despondent to happy.

And then got home and dp has bought me a present to say thank you for being nice while he's been a bit of an arse. It made me laugh, - let me see if I can find it, it's biscuit related.

here

And I'm going for lunch with a friend with out children - hooray.

FasterPussyCatGrrrl · 26/03/2008 12:48

can i join please?

I need to lose 7lbs (the last of my baby weight) and my slack diet is making my IBS flare up again

so far today i've had zero portions...going by what's in the fridge, i reckon i can squeeze 4 in the rest of the day.

easternalstudent · 26/03/2008 13:07

The rage has subsided now - maybe it was husband and not beer related!

Had the most awesome lunch from the olive place consisting of artichoke hearts, butterbeans, toms, courgettes, peppers, onion, spinach and fistfuls of herbs. Reckon I squeezed aboout 6 portions out of that effort.

Feeling quite chuffed with myself now in spite of the weird sleeping pill / caffeine overdose combo which is making my hands shake.

Still, into every life a little rain may fall eh?

BBBee · 26/03/2008 14:56

Hi fastcatperson
