For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Wombling oh gods! Hugs and healthy vibes here too x

Greeny, my ds2 is utterly miserable at school (he is a square peg when it comes to authority/school set-up) and has hated it daily since nursery school. I am so sorry for what you and ds are going through...

Hello everyone else. I have spent all day planting peas, shallots and courgettes. Then rearranged our house a lot. I have belated fullmoon mania!
Bollocks, I'm changing my name back again .

Fullmoonfiend · 25/03/2008 19:20

that's better

Zips, I am a little envious of your gardening gig, you know. Can I come and be the other one to your felicity kendal?

S1ur · 25/03/2008 19:26

Oh wobbling, really hope ds is on the mend best thoughts to both of you.

I've just been for 2 mile run so am feeling smug

S1ur · 25/03/2008 19:26

easternalstudent · 25/03/2008 19:58

Tragically I have given up booze for a month, so my posts might start to make sense now. Dull.

On the plus side, my portions of F&V have leapt right up.

Blueberries, banana, orange, seeds n raisins, red pepper, spring onions, peas, carrots. I had some maltesers and some other assorted badness to help me get over the "what?!!? no beer!?!?" rage.

I shall prob be in bed by 9 to try and forget about it.

[sulky]

Boco · 25/03/2008 20:01

Oh dear Wombling, hope ds is better very soon.

Zippi well done to ds for job!

Ummm, lots of peas, apple juice, kiwi and mango.

Fullmoonfiend · 25/03/2008 20:03

oh that's hard [lush]!
Why a month? Just for a break? I find when I want a drink, but don't want to be drinking, I drink iced water. Or something really yummy like pomegranite juice.
Good luck, and please don't imagine you are dull just because you're not drinking...franny will come along and beat you with wet celery or something.

easternalstudent · 25/03/2008 20:06

Basically I'm a total booze hound and need to knock it on the head for a while! My tolerance just creeps up so darn fast.....

easternalstudent · 25/03/2008 20:06

I'll look forward to the celery beating!!

Fullmoonfiend · 25/03/2008 20:09

I do understand...

I have become rather too reliant on red wine recently.

I try and have weekdays with no booze but things have been so crap and stressful recently. Excuses, excuses..

easternalstudent · 25/03/2008 20:19

Tell me about it... Stress + boredom = raging alchy.

Hope yours soon go away, mine are all sleep related so hopefully the non drinking will help with that too.

Fullmoonfiend · 25/03/2008 20:24

ah.

Mine are all external factors which I have no control over. Hey ho.

I would say I have an addictive personality. If it's not drink, it's fags. Or Nail biting. Or Mumsnet....Sometimes it's fruit

Boco · 25/03/2008 20:27

How do you make it so that it's just the fruit? I want it to be just the fruit.

Fullmoonfiend · 25/03/2008 20:29

ah no, it's never just the fruit. But I get addicted to fruit in addition to the crap stuff.

I like veg and eat lots and lots. But I am a glutton for fruit. My last addiction was lychees. Til DH threatened to put me in the shed as he couldn't stand the slurping.

Boco · 25/03/2008 20:33

I had a job picking lychees in Israel once. Ate a gazillion, but it ruined it for me because now I can taste the chemicals that they then put on them to preserve them - makes them slightly more bitter. Part of the job was to kill these red beetles that ate the lychees by using pliers - but I couldn't kill them so i put them in a tub and released them a few miles away. But got caught with tub of beetles and moved to spraying avocado trees white.

Fullmoonfiend · 25/03/2008 20:35

, can't hear you Boco... at ruining a much-loved addiction!

Go on, tell me blueberries are shit as well eh?? Or Pomegranites.

easternalstudent · 25/03/2008 20:52

It's ALL shit. Except for beer. That is good, honest, pure and good. Did I say good already? It is you know.
