Anyone want to join me in a very easy peasy diet?

Wolfgirl · 18/03/2008 08:57

Im on hols in June so that is my incentive. Beginning of December I went of a cut down diet. All I did, was after my main meal at night, I ate.... NOTHING. No picking... chocolate, biscuits, popcorn (dont we love our popcorn on MN? , crisps....nothing. Oh and no pudding!

I lost nearly 1/2 stone just by not picking.

I ate what I liked during the day, biscuit, chocolate... what ever I liked, but just stopped at night.

I have to say, I did go to bed a little bit hungry, but felt so gooooooood the next day, especially as by the end of the first week my stomach had gone down considerably, and by the second week my clothes felt looser.

Who wants to join me? anyone?

I said...NO NO NO BREAD! Crackers are fine...mmmm...ryvita!!! Marmite on rice cakes...yum! If you were going to have a ham salad sandwich just have the ham salad instead.

I know it's hard - I have been know to demolish a whole french loaf in one sitting so if I can give it a go, anyone can. And the lure of toast in the evening is sometimes unbearable. If you must have one serving of bread a day as part of a meal, go for one of those tasteless slimming breads. Guaranteed to put you off bread for life!

Wait til we get to next week. I'm thinking of banning potatoes (except for jackets/baked) so no chips, wedges, sauted pots, potatoe salad or creamy mash. And def no dauphinoise...mmm [evil]

Happy birthday to Mr DMM - hope he likes his patio!

Suedonim - I know it's probably a bit depressing and monotonous but what about taking a few extra trips up and down stairs, or will the neighbours think you are a loony? Bet you are looking forward to getting back to civilisation in a couple of weeks.

Peachy and mamachris - very impressed with walking, especially the cutting out of a bus ride.

We took a walk today around the duck pond (tis rather a large duck pond) near my aunt's who kindly entertained the DDs while I had a rare business meeting. DDs insisted on walking (again) so not a very quick pace but very little dog poo! (anyone noticed a theme in my rambling?)

Hope everyone managed to resist nibbling urges this evening.

Sugarmagnolia · 12/06/2008 08:13

Ok, so i've been really good since sunday - no evening snacking, no bread, no chocolate - and somehow I've gained 2lbs since tuesday! Maybe that's why we're only supposed to weigh ourselves once a week.

I think no potatoes will be harder for me than no bread! I made some really fab (& healthy!) spicy noodle soup for dinner last night and there's just enough left for lunch so no bread there.

peachygirl · 14/06/2008 19:00

I'm not doing so well this week and looking backs at my weights I'm really floating round a couple of pounds.
I've really failed on the no bread too. I may take this week off and not report and start afresh on Tuesday.
I don't feel too bad about it all and I'm certainly not stuffing myself full of chocolate, fried food or sweeties but I'm sure I'm not going to lose anything this week.

JustJaamy · 15/06/2008 16:03

SM - think your fabulously indulgent weekend is catching up on you. Or could be TOTM? All that fluid?

Peachy - If you want to take a break this week, that's fine. I have misplaced my french stick so won't be beating you with it. Will expect big things form you next week...though will have to log in from an internet cafe in the sun to find out

I will introduce a "break" on the spreadsheet so we know that the dieter has taken a week out (for whatever reason) and not just forgotten to send in weight. We've been at this a while now so I think is ok to make the odd exception for a week off now and then. But let's not make a habit of it. Those pounds won't shift themselves!

Hope Wolfgirl doesn't tell me off.

peachygirl · 15/06/2008 20:58

I will go on the scales and if weight has shifted I will be posting on the spread sheet.
We went for a long walk today in crystal palace park. Anyone else know it? it's great!

nappybaglady · 15/06/2008 21:42

hello ladies. I am also ignoring the no-bread rule. I'm afraid I've been ignoring most of the weekly food omissions. I totally admire and support those of you who are sticking strictly to it but I'm afraid that just now it's not for me. Which probably explains why I've hardly shifted any weight. However, despite that, I've definitely shifted some wobble. I wore a dress last night which I last wore 4 weeks ago. Last time I needed magic knickers, this time I didn't. Slow & steady is how I'm doing this. Haven't nibbled tonight and don't intend to.

Goodnight all

cruisemum1 · 15/06/2008 21:45

me me me me me!!!! sounds simple enough....

gscrym · 16/06/2008 11:08

Sorry I haven't been sending any of my details, my internet and my computer have decided to conspire against me at once by blowing up (kind off). I'm at the library checking my e-mails. DH has also tidied away my scales and can't quite remember where he's put them.

Hope you are all doing well and I'll send my stats once I get everything at home fixed. I'll probably be the size of a bus by then.

peachygirl · 16/06/2008 17:57

Hi all, nothing of note today to report for me.

Cruisemum have you seen the thread I started about a meet up in our area?

JustJaamy · 16/06/2008 23:19

Hi Cruisemum. Can you post or CAT me your email and I will include you on our weekly email and send you some more details?

gscrym - helloooooo! I thought I'd frightened you off. Glad to hear twas just your PC blowing up. Please come and join in again when you are able. We've been trying to keep each other motivated on here but it's tough.

Hi Peachy [waves]! Hoping to see a bit of change for you tomorrow.

NBG - tut at ignoring food bans. But if the clothes are fitting better you must be doing something right.

Am about to send through email and spreadsheet. Will report back - hope not as much of a palarva as last week!

cruisemum1 · 17/06/2008 07:25

Justjaamy - hiya! my email is [email protected]
Feel very excited as I have no will power at all but feel buoyed by the positivity on this thread!
peachygirl - no - not seen anything but i haven't read all posts.....

Sugarmagnolia · 17/06/2008 07:28

Hi there, well did my bet to stick to the no bread rule but totally forgot on saturday when we were at a family function and there were waitresses going round with big baskets of bread rolls. oops not been a great week for me, have gone up again since last week.

Jaamy - I didn't get an email from you last night but I'll email you my details and hopefully you can reply.

Sugarmagnolia · 17/06/2008 07:33

sorry jaamy can't find your email address! Anyway, just to catch up, this is the end of my 3rd week.

Week 1 (3rd June) lost 1 1/2 lbs
Week 2 (10th June) lost 1 1/2lbs
Week 3 (today) gained 1 lb

total weight loss 2lbs in 3 weeks. pretty rubbish.
June has been a bad month -so much going on.

dinny · 17/06/2008 08:48

Hello, this week was my first week and I lost 3lb

Have really hurt back though, so I can't run all week, so expect I will have a rubbish week this week, won't I?

Well done, all

Sugarmagnolia · 17/06/2008 10:15

well done dinny

so what's banned this week, anyone know?

cadelaide · 17/06/2008 13:52

Oh FGS. I have been so good, so very good, and I've lost a measly 1lb.

I've been doing it for 9 weeks now and I've lost 5lb, so I'm beginning to realise this is really going to take me a long time, in fact the rest of this year by my calculations. I shall focus on the fact that I've haven't gained at all so far, just lots of standing still. iyswim.

It's made especially hard in my house by my skinny-as-a-rake DP saying stupid stuff like; "I always find a square of chocolate takes the edge off my appetite and then I lose weight". I would like it to be noted that in the face of this constant cruelty I have not touched chocolate for 9 weeks. (Well, only a teensy bit of the very dark stuff).

cadelaide · 17/06/2008 13:53

potatoes sugar

cadelaide · 17/06/2008 13:53

What I mean is potatoes are banned, sugarmagnolia!

Sugarmagnolia · 17/06/2008 14:43

uh oh, have to be out of the house quick tonight so was planning jacket potatoes and salad for dinner. will have to start the potato ban tomorrow as no time for a rethink!

Wolfgirl · 17/06/2008 15:09

YooooooooooooooHooooooooooo!!! Im back ladies! and the size of a house... no wait... penthouse suite! I darent get on the scales, and am opting out 'officially' for this week, as we only got back very late last night, and not a crumb of food in the house, only biscuits and rubbish stuff.

Because I work on the hospital grounds, we are coming here to the hospital canteen for dinner tonight as I have no strength or desire to cook. Then I will take DC's home for bed whilst DH goes and does some shopping.

I so wanted to take a day off work today, but just dont have spare days off, am pooh pants tired.

The holdiays was kinda lovely. Lovely in so far as the appartments were great, fab pool and just wonderful to swim everyday. But it was such hard work being with the kids. The dynamics of holidaying abroad have really changed, no more lying back or reading a book. You just dont rest. As for sunbathing..... I have a nice tanned face chest and shoulders, but my underarms are still creamy white as are my legs. But I did stick to factor 15 so not surprising.

Can recommend Corfu if anyone is looking to go away. Very beautiful island.

JJ - Im wondering if you would run with this for another week, just till I get my house a little in order, washing, putting things away etc. Plus I will do the diet unofficially to try and get back in the swing, but Im guessing and will bet you all a dollar or two, Im back to the weight I started at 10 or 12 weeks back

OK, had best get on with work. Its been lovely to read most of the posts since I been away, and well done JJ for keeping everyhting going, and well done the rest of you for keeping going.

Wouldnt it be fab if we were more local and could meet up for a celeb meal, or movies, or drink or something! Whose got a massive house wiht massive garden, and can host a BBQ? we could do that maybe?

hugs and big thanks.

duomonstermum · 17/06/2008 15:32

caddy do you want to join my DH patio club?? i can guarantee that we'll all have lovely patios/allotments/gardens..... mine's driving me nuts with the constant " what's for dinner?" "don't fancy that " lark. fgs hurry up and go back to work!!!! ahh well lost nothing this week but then again i wasn't really trying (still sulking)

welcome home wolfie!!! sounds like you had a nice time. i have to say i think people who go on hols with their kids are really good. we're terrible parents who tell them that going to grannys for a week will be sooo much more exciting than going to paris/barcelona wherever lol

JustJaamy · 17/06/2008 16:13

Whooohoooooo Wolfie! Welcome back. Glad you had a nice hol. I have been trying to keep you included in the email circulation but my email doesn't like blueyonder again. Had a lovely email typed out for you last night, pressed send and...nothing. Lost the whole flippin' lot. Don't suppose you got it did you. Was just to fill you in on what we've been up to.

I will of course keep hold of the reins if you wish this week but I'm offski on Sunday (and I must say you didn't do a great job of selling the family holiday thing but I'm going anyway, so there !) to Lanzarote to flaunt my new slimmed down figure for a fortnight! How about I do the SS and the email and circulate on Sat (in between packing) with a request to send stats to you or any other lovely lady who would like to take over for a couple of weeks? Is that ok?

Thanks to all of you who have managed to email new stats to me. Looking good!

SugarMagnolia - potatoes are banned this week except for baked/jacket pots and plain boiled pots (no butter or oil). Exercise target is to get out of breath for 20mins 3 times this wee. Figures if I made it 3 times then with all good intentions we each might managed once or twice. Do anything you like and report back here, unless too X-rated ! DOn't be disheartened, honestly, a 2lb loss is great over 3 weeks. Slow and steady really is the way to go. And you did have that fabulous weekend in between!

Cadders - well done on the losing. ANother one who's getting there steadily. BTW - I think I would have to beat your DH severely about the head. DOn't you hate skinny people who say silly things like that. IT'S JUST NOT NORMAL!

Dinny - what a great start...keep it up and you'll be slipping into that bikini in no time!

cruisemum - no worries, will forward this week's email to you and another email explaining roughly what this diet is all about. Welcome to the gang.

DMM - DH still making a nuisance of himself? That patio must have turned in to a rockery with water feature by now. Hang on in there, you'll get rid of it eventually (and the extra weight, too )

Gone a bit mad today! Maybe it's becasue I am under 10 stone for the first time in about, ooooh 5 years. Down another 3lbs this week so have this dieting thing sussed . All you need to do is have a chest infection for 2 weeks then embark on a mad decorating project, paint for 14 hours non stop and then try and squeeze in a month's worth of work in one week...see, easy. DOn't worry though, weight will all go back on on hols!

Anyway, back to the PC, interesting as MN is I can't start packing until I've finished this darn work!

JustJaamy · 17/06/2008 16:34

...under 11 stone!!! think I'd snap if I was under 10 stone!

cruisemum1 · 17/06/2008 17:25

justjaamy - thanks. i will look forward to it. having fishcakes tonight with salad. Got potato in it but you caught me on the hop!

peachygirl · 17/06/2008 19:14

Well, so much for my bad week.. which involved eating mini eggs last night I lost another pound. Have also got DH on the weighing lark as he feels he could lose a bit. Lots of walking to parks too
