Anyone want to join me in a very easy peasy diet?

Im on hols in June so that is my incentive. Beginning of December I went of a cut down diet. All I did, was after my main meal at night, I ate.... NOTHING. No picking... chocolate, biscuits, popcorn (dont we love our popcorn on MN? , crisps....nothing. Oh and no pudding!

I lost nearly 1/2 stone just by not picking.

I ate what I liked during the day, biscuit, chocolate... what ever I liked, but just stopped at night.

I have to say, I did go to bed a little bit hungry, but felt so gooooooood the next day, especially as by the end of the first week my stomach had gone down considerably, and by the second week my clothes felt looser.

Who wants to join me? anyone?

Ok heelllppp!!! Going to a meeting tonight at a friend's house where she always puts out lovely, lovely cakes as well as nice fresh fruit and stuff. Tomorrow night friends coming for dinner and have bought nice stuff for dessert. And Saturday night am being whisked away for michelin starred (yes really - a first for me!!!) restaurant for my 10th wedding anniversary. Don't suppose I can get 3 nights off this week if I'm really, really good the next two weeks???

peachygirl · 05/06/2008 21:16

Sugarmagnolia I would opt out of the diet and then start again next week. What lovely treats though , especially the restaurant.

cadelaide I think this week has just been a bad one, we have had four birthdays in a row, including a set of twins and a 30th. Thank goodness I am only in three days. Not long ago we were complaining that we had gone throigh a very dry birthday patch with no treats for weeks and weeks.

Bit of a funny day here. We got up a bit late so I didn't get breakfast. I did indulge in a small pice of cake at playtime. Then I had to go and collect DD from the childminder at lunchtime so only a couple of bites of lunch. I got home hungry and had a small bowl of cereal. then had tea. but then {shame] opened a box of heroes a colleague has bought me as a thankyou for hemming her DH's cricketing trousers. I only had a few .. honest

JustJaamy · 06/06/2008 13:59

Well, I'm back in the land of the living...ish!

So sorry to have neglected you lovely ladies, though it does look as if you have been very good in my absence.

Dinny - sorry you've not had an email yet, been abit out of action but am back in saddle now so will email shortly.

Cadders - admirable that you didn't have even one little QS! Well done you. How right you are about the smell. I always find that the killer if I'm trying to eat a sensible meal while DDs are tucking into sauage and chips or some other delicacy.
LOL at your carrot sticks and oatcakes! It'll be plain rice cakes and bowl fulls of fresh air next.
I like a glass of wine or three on a Fri (and Sat) night, too, though havn't been partaking at all while being ill - when I can't stand the thought of a glass of wine, that's when I know I'm sick. Been trying to mix it with soda or alternate with glass of water to reduce intake (and hangover!)

Sugar - I haven't forgotten about sending you an email (in fact had nearly finished one to you on Tuesday night when accidentally closed and lost email - probably just as well since was largely drug induced!). Wolfgirl has added you to the spreadsheet and I will update your figures along with everyone elses this week.
How did you get on last night at friends. I reckon, if you have managed to be good all week then you deserve to go for it at the posh restaurant! We're not going to be able to be good all the time, life just doesn't happen that way. The idea behind this diet is (I think) that it shows us that if we are sensible we can lose weight and while we know that being naughty now and then (even if it is for 3 nights in a row) probably isn't going to do our waistband much good, we also aren't trying to kid ourselves that we can exist on a lettuce leaf and one of Cadelaide's carrot sticks. We all need a treat/comfort food occasionally otherwise we'd go mad but we know that we can be good for the other 4 or 5 or 6 days a week. Enjoy the restaurant. We will all be waiting (with drooling faces) to quiz you on it!

KPT - Hope you are still doing well. Have you hung that party dress up somewhere you can see it for a bit of motivation? We know you can do it. We want to see photos of you from your parties looking stunning. My problem with wine is that I start getting munchies after one glass so it's not just the alcohol but the nibbles that go with it. If, like me, you can't resist the nibbles, make sure you have some nice fruit like strawbs ready in the fridge to munch on. They go really nice with wine or champagne if you are that way inclined.

Peachy - Sounds like you needed a bit of cadresistance for those chocs, lady! Big slap on wrists. But you're going to make up for it by being good over the weekend, aren't you?!
Can you please send me a copy of your certificate, please sweetie so I can forward to this week's leading lady? Thanks very much.

Hope everyone else is going well this week - NBL, Fruity, IzzyWizzy, NAB, DMM, Christie et al...

So...after being vitually convinced that I had lost at least half a stone whilst being ill and eating next to nothing (if you don't count the odd packet of crisps and chips which were of course medicinal and nibbling on DDs meals), when I weighed myself on Wed morning (couldn't do it on Tues) I had lost...drum roll, please...one pound!!! I've been losing 1 or 2 lbs each week for the last few weeks now so, just goes to show that starving yourself is not the way to go but proper portions of healthy food, no nibbling and a bit of exercise does work and is a lot more fun!

peachygirl · 06/06/2008 18:44

Tis done!

nappybaglady · 06/06/2008 19:48

hello all. I've not been doing too badly this week. Managed to resist the nibbles last night by thinking of all of you as though you were watching over me. It's better than a fridge lock.

Unfortunately am rather frazzled today so ended up getting fish & chips for all of us on way home from kids swim lessons. Never mind, you're all still keeping a virtual watch over me so there will be no nibbles tonight. There will, without a doubt, be a glass of wine or a G&T

jjammy - glad you're feeling better

Sugarmagnolia - where are you going to eat? I also went to a michelin star restaurant for the first time a few weeks ago on my tenth anniversary. This could be a new MN trend (although I'm not a very trendy sort of MNer). We went to L'enclume in Cumbria. Was very interesting food, but not like going out for a meal. More like eating in a science lab! The booze was absolutely fantastic...Hmmm, that sounds bad doesn't it. Anyway hope you have a great night

Enjoy the weekend everyone

Sugarmagnolia · 07/06/2008 08:01

Hi all. Well thursday night couldn't resist some very juicy strawberries and a large M&S gooey chocolate chip cookie. It was very good.

Last night we had our friends round and there was apple crumble, ice cream and berries for dessert and I had a bit of everything!

oops.

not going to hold back tonight though - I?m going to Andrew Fairlies at Gleneagles plus staying at the hotel overnight with no kids, yay. Off to pack - will update with details of dinner when I get back.

Will just have to start being good again on Sunday.

Sugarmagnolia · 08/06/2008 18:38

Well, my indulgent weekend is over - and boy was it indulgent! We went for the 6 course taster menu which by the time you added on canapes, amuse buche and pre-dessert was actually 9 courses plus wine, plus after dinner chocolates and hot sugared nuts. Followed by a chocolate croissant for breakfast and then a big plate of chips for lunch today

Right, am back on green tea and salad as of now.

peachygirl · 08/06/2008 19:54

OOOH that sounds lovely sugarmagnolia

JustJaamy · 09/06/2008 22:07

Oooh, SM - that sounds wonderful! How do you go to green tea and salad after that?

Have been fighting with the PC most of the afternoon/evening. If you do get an email from me this evening, it is quite likely that you may have received more than one copy. I apologise now, apparently the email host "isn't loading" whatever that means .

Good luck for weigh in tomorrow, everyone.

Sugarmagnolia · 10/06/2008 07:41

Hi Jammy - I did get your email but can't seem to reply now for some reason! So here's my info. My motivation is just to get back to a good weight for my height and body. And somehow, despite this weekend I've lost another 1 1/2 lbs, or so the scales say!

MamaChris · 10/06/2008 11:19

No email Jaamy. Hope you're feeling better? Didn't lose any this week, but didn't gain either, so happy enough with that. And well sone Sugar

MamaChris · 10/06/2008 11:19

JustJaamy · 10/06/2008 12:10

Right, think you all have email now. Ended up having to send in batches. SM, Christie and Dinny - you should have 2 different emails from me.

Well done SM - you've really made a great start. Must have been good for the rest of the week considering your weekend of debauchery! Good on you!

I have lost 2lbs this week. Am so chuffed as it means that I have lost ONE STONE in total. Not getting too carried away though as I think must be hang over form being ill as haven't managed much exercise. Might go back on once I start eating properly. But hey, ONE STONE!!!!

Hope everyone else has weihed on ok and sorry about the rubbish email.

cadelaide · 10/06/2008 12:56

Don't talk to me.

I'm sulking.

cadelaide · 10/06/2008 14:37

You do know sulking is a cry for attention, don't you?

cadelaide · 10/06/2008 14:38

Right, I'm off to walk to school.

Not that exercise makes any bloody difference.

Sugarmagnolia · 10/06/2008 16:22

Hi cadelaide -my that walk must have done you some good, how very slim and toned you are looking today!

JustJaamy · 10/06/2008 20:03

Cadelaide - SM is right. You may have not lost any weight this week but you are definitely looking slimmer...more toned. I bet your jeans are feeling just a little bit looser, aren't they?

How was your walk? Mine was, errr, fun! As predicted, lots of dog poo dodging so I probably walked twice the distance. Quite a fast pace round to the school (was late and DD2 in pram) and more of a dawdle home as DD2 had decided to walk (in between investigating every house path along the way. At least the weather was nice.

Someone please tell me you've walked somewhere a bit more interesting today!

peachygirl · 10/06/2008 20:23

I walked three walks.

To baby swimming and back, about 10 mins each way ( and then swimming class too, lots of walking and lifting babies. Also round Tescos after.

To the hairdressers for DD 1st haircut had mine done too, about 20 mins each way.

To the station and back 10 mins 10 mins each way. I thought I had a meeting in london. Texted my friend on the train and he said it was next week ...DOH.
I will find out the distances.

I may have to cheat on the bread for tomorrows lunch. I have to drive to a course in Dorking over my lunch hour and don't know how I will get something to eat that isn't a sandwich.

I wondered if those of us that have them should wear a pedometor (even those cheapo/free ones) and report back how many steps we have done too???

MamaChris · 10/06/2008 20:50

Walked to the bus stop Sounds poor, but I normally would get 2 buses, and instead walked the route of the first one... uphill... pushing ds in buggy... about 20 mins [virtuous emoticon]. Walking should be ok for me this week. But no bread?!? What should I put my marmite and jam on for lunch?

suedonim · 10/06/2008 22:18

I got the email. But I also got an extra 1/2 lb weight this week.

No chance of me walking, it's too hazardous in Nigeria. And swimming's off as the rainy season has set in with a vengeance - we had five thunder storms between 6am Fri and 3pm Sunday.

Still, we're back in the UK on 28th June and I look forward to getting plenty of exercise as I walk round the shops.

Sugarmagnolia · 11/06/2008 07:26

oooh, I missed the bit about no bread. Was it in Jaamy's email? What about things like crackers & ricecakes?

duomonstermum · 11/06/2008 11:15

i confess... as i was reading no bread (how mean!!) i was tucking into a plate of french toast..... lots of cinnamon and sugar mmmmm

i can't do no bread..... tis too cruel. i'm addicted to the stuff. i'm reeeeaaaly good and eat wholegrain (now i'm just begging...) oh well in for a pound..... but i'm not speaking to jaamy now (sulk)

haven't got my patio yet. he's trying to be good but i think it has more to do with it being his birthday. he's worse than the kids!!!

MamaChris · 11/06/2008 11:29

duo - bread I think impossible for me too. I can't imagine a whole week without a marmite sarnie! But will try to limit it, and certainly no bread outside of mealtimes. Is that a compromise Jaamy or am I twisting the rules too too much?

peachygirl · 11/06/2008 20:32

If you can't do without bread how about eating it for one meal only?
