Anyone want to join me in a very easy peasy diet?

Im on hols in June so that is my incentive. Beginning of December I went of a cut down diet. All I did, was after my main meal at night, I ate.... NOTHING. No picking... chocolate, biscuits, popcorn (dont we love our popcorn on MN? , crisps....nothing. Oh and no pudding!

I lost nearly 1/2 stone just by not picking.

I ate what I liked during the day, biscuit, chocolate... what ever I liked, but just stopped at night.

I have to say, I did go to bed a little bit hungry, but felt so gooooooood the next day, especially as by the end of the first week my stomach had gone down considerably, and by the second week my clothes felt looser.

Who wants to join me? anyone?

Aha, I see mention of the "age" issue.

I'm 43, and I cannot believe how much harder it is to shift this weight than it was in my twenties and thirties. I used to find a 2lb a week loss easy (not that I've ever really dieted, as such, maybe 2 or 3 times in my life).

So there's motivation for all you youngsters, just view it as now or never!

FruitynNutty · 29/05/2008 06:50

whoopsie They were very tiny though I normally have about 5! I'm a bit of a fruit addict,I think that's another reason I've gained weight

Sugarmagnolia · 29/05/2008 08:55

Is it too late for a newcomer?

A few months ago I really wanted to lose about 5lbs and thought I could do it easily just be ?being good(ish)? but so far all I've managed to do is gain another 3lbs. It doesn't seem much but at this rate I'm about to go up from a comfortable size 10 to a 12 - and at only 5'0 I'm really not happy about that. I'm 36 but just seem to have absolutely zero energy. I get myself to a pretty strenuous yoga class once a week but that's all the exercise I can manage these days.

So can I join? I'm totally rubbish at diets and reckon the support will really help!

(BTW - what was the verdict about a satsuma or say, a handful of grapes, after dinner?)

Wolfgirl · 29/05/2008 09:57

Hello Sugarmagnolia - of course you can join. but you will see from the last few posts that I will be on hols from Monday. I will add you to the spreadsheet and I believe Jaamy is going to help while Im away.

Well..... the thread title says Easy Peasy diet... but several weeks in, I think we can all say.... actually its quite hard work. First few weeks everyone is exicited and lose a few pounds, then you just mark time, then you put a pound or so on.. then stay steady... then lose a pound. So to keep the weight loss steady, you have to be really strict with yourself.

Results can be slow... yet sure.

The idea is that you stop picking in the evening. We stop at 6pm! You can have your main meal after 6pm, but no picking whilst waiting for your meal iyswim?

You can pretty much eat what you like during the day... although in moderation. We suggest an exerise per week and a food elimination.

If you would like to join you can start this week. As I say.. I have set up a spreadsheet, and once a week - Tuesday morning, you weigh yourself first thing in the morning, no clothes and no food (always feels better too), then you send me the stats.

I need:

Your current weight
Target weight
Incentive.

You can CAT me (if you subscribe) and I will mail you back when I have your details. OR you can just leave your emal addy here, something like

janice @Imonadiet .co.uk

duomonstermum - how are you and yours, today? hope the bruising has gone down a bit. What about dh, is he feeling better?

oh verdict about grapes etc after dinner. At the end of the day its up to you guys. Fruit is not really going to hurt, so I say go ahead. But if you could try and get your fruit quota in during the day, that would be better.

It really is a no picking in the evening diet... and fruit is still picking. But if desperate, Id rather that, than sweets crisps or chocolate

I frequently eat dinner late so the danger time for me is not after dinner but 5-6ish when I'm feeding the kids. so that's when I'm going to have to work on not picking!

duomonstermum · 29/05/2008 19:21

wolfie, feeling much better except for the multicoloured mass that is my ass he's not doing too bad but he's going to drive me demented!!!! i've never had him at home for more than a week at a time and usually i get away from him for a few hours so we don't kill each other much as i love the loon he's the worlds worst patient!!!!

cadelaide · 29/05/2008 21:42

Hey Wolfie, you made the "top threads" bit!

cadelaide · 29/05/2008 21:45

"Discussions of the Day"....that's what I meant!

Now to diet speak. I've run 'round the field again before b/fast both yesterday and today but, tbh, I'm not loving it much and I can't see myself keeping it up. A new pair of running shoes and some good running gear might help, I guess.

Otherwise I've been pretty good, until just now. Wine and chocolate....that fatal combination.

Ah well, onwards and upwards downwards.

Sugarmagnolia · 30/05/2008 07:19

Well I haven't managed to run round any fields but I did make it through the first night. I had to go out last night so I ate early with the kids, finished dinner at 6 and had nothing afterwards - not even the coffee or cake on offer at the meeting I went to! I got home about 8:30 and put the kettle on thinking if I was desperate then I would have a cup of green tea (surely that's got to be pretty low on the unhealthy list?) but in the end i didn't even have that. So yay me.

Wolfgirl · 30/05/2008 07:53

WooooooooooooooooWhooooo! how fab is that. Yey! Im impressed and very happy well done for spotting it Cadders We must be doing something right, then eh!

Wolfgirl · 30/05/2008 08:01

OK confession time ladies. I did really really ...NO wait.... REALLY bad last night. And I know exactly why, so take heed!!!!!

I just didnt eat very much during the day, not only cutting out snacks but my meal portions, and man alive did I suffer last night. The hunger was just horrid, and so I snacked pigged out. I ate: half a pack of licorice, small pack of doritos and half pack of hoola hoops. And during the day I ate 3 squares of chocolate.

I think that was it. Trying to think hard if ate anything else. BUT guess what ladies! my boobs are starting to hurt so Ithink Im in line for TOTM very soon, which would also explain why Im craving. I hope it comes soon, cos we fly out on Monday. Thank goodness for tampons! thats all I can say. TMI eh?

OP posts:
IssyWizzyWoo · 30/05/2008 11:06

Ah Wolfgirl that wasn't a pig out!!

A real pigout is 2 curly wurlys,a packet of monster munch and a third of a pot of double choc fudge Ben & Jerrys, while watching that programme "How to look 10yrs younger!" and wishing it was me being made over.

No wonder that I was 2lbs up this week

I'm back on the diet wagon this week, been reading backover the thread for inspiration.

You lot make me

FruitynNutty · 30/05/2008 13:29

Hi guys,

I don't think I'm doing too badly but I still haven't got round to weighing myself. I'll know when my jeans start to fit properly. I haven't been anything at all after 2pm and then again nothing at all after dinner at about 8pm. Not bad eh, except for the 3 satsumas I had on my 1st night!

I've got 35 mins until food clocking off time so having just eaten my soup and bread I'm having a pink grapefruit and I'm going to allow myself some mint chocolate

I'm actually starting to fell hunger again in the evenings which is fab cos I'd forgotten what hunger feels like! I'm also not having any major carbs in with my evening meal which should help a bit

FruitynNutty · 30/05/2008 13:30

meant to say "I haven't been eating anything after 2pm"

cadelaide · 30/05/2008 21:57

I'm hungry

cadelaide · 30/05/2008 22:50

really quite hungry

cadelaide · 30/05/2008 23:40

deeply hungry

cadelaide · 30/05/2008 23:48

I've just read this, not hungry any more.

Wolfgirl · 31/05/2008 07:54

oh Cadders, only just seen your message. Yes, I was like this the other night. Guess that was my night off. LOL
