Anyone want to join me in a very easy peasy diet?

Im on hols in June so that is my incentive. Beginning of December I went of a cut down diet. All I did, was after my main meal at night, I ate.... NOTHING. No picking... chocolate, biscuits, popcorn (dont we love our popcorn on MN? , crisps....nothing. Oh and no pudding!

I lost nearly 1/2 stone just by not picking.

I ate what I liked during the day, biscuit, chocolate... what ever I liked, but just stopped at night.

I have to say, I did go to bed a little bit hungry, but felt so gooooooood the next day, especially as by the end of the first week my stomach had gone down considerably, and by the second week my clothes felt looser.

Who wants to join me? anyone?

Christie... your metabolic rate may have slowed down. Can I ask how old you are, and also if you have a thyroid issue? If you are trying hard as you say.... maybe the food is not digesting or burning up in your body the way it should.

could you speak with a nutritionist? although not sure where you would find one, you could ask your doctor and explain what is happening. And I cant remember if you are managing to exercise? that really does help.

Morning Christie Im 45 (46 in Oct) and have thyroid issue, so I know my metabolic rate is pants. I think the answer is YES to your question, ish. At 'our' age, we cannot afford to gorge on biscuits, snickers, cakes, nibbles etc. Our bodies do not cope with it anymore. We need our energy for our families now, and man! dont they take some!

This is why Im certain that the no snacking in the evening will really help us all. I know it is hard work, but doing this along with eating good quality food, we should and ARE seeing results.

U-turning in the way we feed ourselves can be just as hard work as giving up fags or some other addiction. We have become way too cosy in snacking, and its all so automatic - like we dont even notice that we are doing it sometimes.

Cut out or certainly cut down on sugar and snack intake, and replace those foods with fruit, salads and healthy snacks (raisen, nuts etc)

Have a nice day.

Weight was 11st 6lbs.

FruitynNutty · 28/05/2008 09:12

Morning girls, I'm going to start my weight loss today!
Thought I'd introduce myself:

I'm FruitynNutty but most people on MN call me Fruity

I'm currently around 9st7lbs. Desperate to lose at least half a stone so I can fit into my clothes without bits of chubba hanging over I'll be damned if I have to buy a new wardrobe in the next size up!

Also been TTC for 10 months, struggling because of PCOS. Apparently losing weight can really help, even if it's just a few pounds

If I do manage to conceive, then I'll be back here after the birth as I'm getting married next August so I'll (hopefully) have baby weight to shift

Right, I'm off to have a little look through some of the recent posts (I dont think I can get through them all!)

FruitynNutty · 28/05/2008 09:14

Oh yeah, I'm 28 and have an underactive thyroid but on a good level of thyroxine (in fact last time I was very slightly over) so thyroid not really an issue at the moment

Wolfgirl · 28/05/2008 09:15

NABS - thats great. 2lb from last week! well done you!!!!

Good to have you on board Fruity

Ladies, can anyone provide a simple list of foods and their calorific value? I know we are not really counting calories, but I think sometimes it helps to be mindful of what we are eating during the day.

So, things like:

a curry
roast dinner
bologneise
glass of homemade milkshake

then simple things like: medium banana, apple, salad stuffs; cup of coffee with one sugar; mars bar, bag of crisps;

that sort of things. Im sure I had a little book once.... not now though.

Anyone?

Wolfgirl · 28/05/2008 09:54

Oh and just for the record ladies, get this! I weighed myself yesterday morning - feeling really heavy and bloated and was 89.9 kgs (14st 2lb something, nearly 3lb) then weighed myself this morning feeling a bit lighter, and weighed 89kgs which is 14st

So tell me! whats that about, losing 2lb overnight. Just doesnt figure.

So there we have it, we know that just being bloated can harbour a good couple of pounds in our tummies. And this is why we need continuous readings, to assure ourselves that we are actually losing weight.

What do you think?

OP posts:
FruitynNutty · 28/05/2008 11:19

Just one big fart might do it .

I haven't had the chance to go to boots for a weigh in yet but I will do this afternoon. Just back from a walk to the local farm with the kiddies. I thought I'd jump onto MN quickly while they're playing happily - terrible!
Going to get DS and mindee to make a pizza for their lunch (nothin like a bit of cheap labour ), I might even have a little taste without feeling guilty

I must get my scales back from my mum's. Trouble is, if they're in my house, I'll be weighing myself everyday. Perhaps if I put them away in a cupboard after I've weighed myself I'll be less inclined to use them .

I'll have a look at the SS when the kids are napping. See how everyone is getting on.

JustJaamy · 28/05/2008 12:03

Helloooooooo fellow lighterweights!

Happy rainy wednesday to you!

Lost 2lbs this week but am fully expecting that to go back on when my body ralises that I have been gorging all weekend - I had an excuse though, we went away for wedding anniversary celebration. Lots of alcohol, too but anniversary was yesterday so I will be GOOD GOOD GOOD for the rest of the week.

Hope everyone is OK.

NAB - we all love you. Well done on your 2lb loss.

Congrats to Suedonim (must be the swimming!)and Peachy on losses, too.

Wolfy - just think how much worse you would have felt in company of skinny (and no doubt boring!) old friends if you hadn't have lost those 8lbs. Keep going, have a fab hol and when you get back this nasty weather will have gone and the sunshine will keep us all motivated.

I don't mind updating and circulating the spreadsheet in your absence. You've done so well in keeping us all going, think you really need a break. I go away for 2 weeks on 22nd June, though so we'd still miss a week. It sounds like most of us are wanting to keep going with the thread.

Welcome to the thread Fruity - it really does work.

Apparently it uses more calories to eat celery than are in it!

Wolfgirl · 28/05/2008 20:31
