Anyone want to join me in a very easy peasy diet?

Im on hols in June so that is my incentive. Beginning of December I went of a cut down diet. All I did, was after my main meal at night, I ate.... NOTHING. No picking... chocolate, biscuits, popcorn (dont we love our popcorn on MN? , crisps....nothing. Oh and no pudding!

I lost nearly 1/2 stone just by not picking.

I ate what I liked during the day, biscuit, chocolate... what ever I liked, but just stopped at night.

I have to say, I did go to bed a little bit hungry, but felt so gooooooood the next day, especially as by the end of the first week my stomach had gone down considerably, and by the second week my clothes felt looser.

Who wants to join me? anyone?

LVR, well done you, you've gotten off to a great start - keep going. Re your question, I have no idea - sorry Im not a nutritionist or diet expert in anyway. It is odd how our bodies function though. when you think you've done bad and been on the scoff all week, voila! you lose a pound, but I think it is because our bodies are in decline - on the way down. and then we have a scoff, our bodies start putting the breaks on, we mark time for a few days maybe a week, then it starts going up.

And the reverse applies. So your weight start going back up, you have been very good and dieted all week, but the scales show an increase;

then you ahve to undo all the bad work, and start again, with possibly no marked improvement for a week or so.

well, best be off, Ive got your stats now m'dear, keep going.

I have just done 30 minutes on my exercise bike but I wonder if it is worth it if I only burn off a calorie a minute.

Wolfgirl · 24/04/2008 14:51

oh yes, its def worth it, keep going! Its not just losing weight we are after, but TONING up.

wish I had an exercise bike but will make do with my little exercises each week for now.

My stomach is a lost cause I feel. The muscles separated when I had my youngest and haven't gone back and are now in a funny position. I really want to get something to try and tone it up a bit. My legs are a tad better but could obviously be even better.

peachygirl · 25/04/2008 20:13

Hi everyone. I am feeling very virtuous as I walked to and from work on wed and thurs this week. I live close but usually have to take DD to the childminders.
I'm really keeping my fingers crossed this week.
Good luck everyone

Wolfgirl · 26/04/2008 11:24

well done peachygirl! Im not holding out for anyting wonderful this week, Ive picked up my little girls virus, and so not been able to exercise. I have been good food wise, until yesterday, when I missed out on a decent lunch so scoffed about 6 maybe 7 biscuits. Had tea about 8ish and had a whacking great Magnum ice-cream afterwards. So lets all that my night off

You never know, I might of lost 1/2 lb. and Id be grateful for that, or even marking time, so long as I dont put ON!!

hope you all have a great weekend. xx

Morning ladies. I've mailed you all, asking for someone to suggest a food or drink avoidance for next week, and an exercise!

My home email has not been working too well for a while, so bear with me if you have replied, Im hoping it will be fixed by tonight

Wolfgirl · 28/04/2008 18:05

nappybaglady - sorry for taking so long to respond. I've added you to the spreadsheet, which I will send out tonight, after LO's have gone to bed.

Weigh in day tomorrow ladies. Oooh la la.

Thanks for your suggestions of exercises and a food / drink to drop.

Your surprise awaits you......very soon.

Ladies, I have sent the spreadsheet tonight, as it gets a bit fretful on Tuesday mornings.

Hope you had a good week!

JustJaamy · 28/04/2008 21:37

Thanks Wolfgirl! Poor you feeling rough this week. Hope feeling a bit better now.

Thanks KPT for the motivation. Was a bit down last week (hormones, I think)and that didn't help with nibbling. Been good this week, except for a couple of glasses of wine and a few pringles on my night off. But then I've had work to do so am being kept busy. Even been doing about 40 mins on the exercise bike most days. Surprised I haven't bumped into you, NAB on the 'road' !

Welcome to all the newbies! Looking forward to some good motivational tips. So far I have found that keeping my ironing til the evening stops me nibbling, as does posting onMN the net because my hands a kept busy. Getting quite prolific now! I try to steer clear of tv as it just makes me want to reach for the nibbles. My DH has been a great help too.

LVER - You've just reminded me that I've got a Divina DVD somewhere. Problem is getting the peace to do it. Surely that will make a pound or two drop off you?

Peachy - well done on the walking. I love walking - end up doing a kind of power walk with DD2 in the buggy since I'm always late. Turn up looking a bit like a sweaty betty!

DMM - how did DH's assignment go?

Nabbybaglady - think we all knew that cutting out evening nibbling would help us lose weight but it's just getting started and keeping motivated, isn't it! Poor you being stressed at work. Hope things improve soon.

Hi to everyone else - Suedonim, Thomcat, etc

7weeks, 6days til I go on hols and would like to lose another 10lbs by then.

KaSo · 28/04/2008 21:41

Dang it! I really wanted to do the easy diet, but I don't pick at night! Only during the day while I'm at work and bored! Curses...

JustJaamy · 28/04/2008 21:49

KaSo - am sure you've tried but why don't you try bringing a load of grapes, dried fruit or rice cakes to work to nibble on? Or get together with one of your colleagues who is also trying to lose weight and motivate each other?

I've pretty much cut out nibbling during the day, too on this diet.

Get me, now I'll be so gutted if I haven't lost anything at weigh-in tomorrow!

duomonstermum · 29/04/2008 00:14

justjaamy, he still has 2 more to have finished by wed but he got away with an extension for one of them cos he was given the wrong handout.

well i did well.....eeerrrr NOT!!!! ended up taking yesterday as my day off cos we were invited to my friends daughters 21st and suffice to say the vow to cut out alcohol lasted oooohhhh all of 2secs!! i promise to be extra good this week though!!

Wolfgirl · 29/04/2008 08:25

Morning ladies. ah, just as I expected, a small gain of 1lb. Im very bloated and need .... ahem.... the loo iykwim. But I dont feel too shattered because I was sick last week, and those darn Magnum ice-creams DH bought home didnt help.

I will pick up on exercise this week hopefully and will cut out the Nuts and crisps too.

Im at work right now, so not seen everyones weigh in results. Good luck ladies

Hi Wolfgirl,

Can't access the spreadsheet (dp's doing stuff on the pc atm),can you fill in my stats for a loss of 1lb please?

I'll type that again cos it felt good; that's a loss of 1lb

Wolfgirl · 29/04/2008 12:54

whey heyyyyyyyyyyyy! well done you! I can try and send again tonight for you. But I will enter your NEW stats in beforehand!

OP posts:
MamaChris · 30/04/2008 12:16

how's it going all?

saw "no crisps/nuts" and thought "yay - easy peasy!". then I saw the nuts in my muesli, but shrugged - muesli healthy and too much faff to pick them out. then I stopped halfway through my peanut butter sarnie - maybe not so easy peasy I figure peanut butter not so healthy, and probably falls under the exclusion? Anyway. So I have broken the rules already twice without realising it. Sorry!

and after going through ds's photos, had resolved to try extra hard this week, as I'm fed up of looking at photos of me & him together and just focusing on how big I look and not how sweet he looks...

NotABanana · 30/04/2008 12:20

Well I have broken the rules too and just had a pack of Monster Munch but I am blaming the fact that I had my period and I haven't eaten crisps for days.

JustJaamy · 30/04/2008 12:59

Hello fellow dieters! I know what you mean about the crisps and nuts...I also thought "no probs" but then found myself eyeing up DDs' Skips yesyerday and I swear the jar of peanut butter in the fridge is talking to me!

Well, at weigh in yesterday morning I had lost [drum roll please] 5 lbs. Have been well chuffed with myself since I had put on last week. Must be as you predicted, Wolfgirl. We will end up putting on weight at certain times of the month but then may get a decent loss.

mamachris - photos are a great motivator. Just wondering whether I dare put a photo of me in a bikini on the fridge door - may never eat again!

MamaChris · 30/04/2008 13:53

wow JJ - amazing!

also quite impressed there exist any photos of you in a bikini - don't think I'd allow such a thing

kingprawntikka · 30/04/2008 14:47

Hi everyone, well i lost a pound last week , so 10 st 1 now. I also thought the crisps /nut thing wouldn't be too difficult, but had a packet of ready salted crisps yesterday. I think it was knowing i couldn't that got me craving them!! But i haven't been picking after tea much at all.
Wolfgirl do we keep adding to the things we can't have, or once a week is over is that weeks contraband allowed again.? I hope its allowed again as i had two glasses of wine last night

JustJaamy · 30/04/2008 16:34

Mamachris - LOL, as far as I am aware, no photos exist of me in a bikini (at least not full body shots and not from the last 5 years) but I would consider doing a photo shoot just to get the photo to stick on the fridge.

peachygirl · 30/04/2008 21:32

Hi
It took me a while to find you. I keep losing the thread. I lost 2lbs this week and am very pleased with myself.
I admitted to wolfgirl that I don't count the 1/2 or 3/4lbs. I see on the scale I just count the whole numbers anyone else do this??
Also I was wondering if anyone would like a certificate for when they are 'slimmer of the week.' You could print it out and put it on your fridge. I'm happy to create one and liase with wolf girl who to send them to... what do you think??
