Came in about 6 minutes after me, as they decided to run mostly. All 3 neatly grouped together, and shepherded straight to my sweaty embrace thanks to the "only 2 exits" format. Very proud mother, me!

Next time - I run all of it, including the hills

Thanks to everyone on here for the support - without you and Rawb, I would be one of the 200yd-ers.

electricbarbarella · 02/06/2008 08:27

Well done I just had a email this morning reminding me that it is only 2 weeks.

I have a slight plan tell me what you think

3 or 4k today
6k Weds
6k Weekend

2k mon and 2k weds
RFL SUN
Does that sound OK?

Wheelybug · 02/06/2008 08:41

Aw well done Wooluff cubs !

EB - think that sounds fine. Maybe next week do a bit more than 2K because otherwise its a big jump to 5 but see how you feel. You must be our next RFL-er !!

Toots · 02/06/2008 16:47

I have been lurking....I did my first RFL yesterday - City of London and agree with tip 3!

My tip is that if you have family/friends who want to see you sweating before you cross the finish line. Get them to walk a minute or two up the course from said line so you have a better chance of eyeballing each other. DD's (6 &3) miffed not to spot me but very happy to wear my medal!

Am so pleased with myself for running the whole way. As fit young fillies trotted past me I repeated 'completing more important than competing' as didn't want to run out of steam.

wheelybug · 02/06/2008 16:55

well done toots ! I heard about the city of london one and wished I done that one rather than round a field in Richmond. Would have been more interesting I think ! Oh well, my 10K is around hampton court so should be some nice scenery !!

Have done my first run of the week - can support the black coffee training regime (I'd had 2 large ones before running !!) !! Am going to try and get out 4 times this week in a desperate attempt to get my weight moving downwards again and to aim towards the magic 10K !

LadyJogsAlot · 02/06/2008 20:15

i missed the coffee thing...
what's it all abaaat?

wheelybug · 02/06/2008 20:24

I think it was Bramblebooks theory that if you drink a cup of black coffee before a run it made you run better/faster. Maybe its just because you need the loo halfway round .

Have you been out for a run yet LJA

toadette · 02/06/2008 21:10

Hi there, is it ok if I join in with your thread? I'm currently running just over 5k twice a week (have been running a couple of years but never upped my distance further than this). I'm hoping to do a 10k in September so need to gradually increase the distance I'm running and hopefully the frequency.

Did the RFL yesterday and finished in just under 30 minutes which I was happy with given the large hill.

Going to sort out a good playlist for my ipod and start my 10k training from this week. Hoping to add on around half a mile every week or so.

wheelybug · 03/06/2008 09:18

Hi toadette ! You found us. Welcome.

Glad I'm not due to run today -its pouring !!

electricbarbarella · 03/06/2008 12:10

I never made it out yesterday, had a migraine instead. The coffee thing is to stop stitch and it really works, the only time I haven't had any I was crippled with it half way round.
LJA, run lady run.

LadyJogsAlot · 03/06/2008 15:47

i really can't imagine going out tonight in this rain.
dh is at the studio tomorrow so i'll be with baby all day.
humph.

SparklyPrincess · 03/06/2008 16:24

I will go running tonight ...
I will go running...
I will...

God, somebody make me, please!

electricbarbarella · 03/06/2008 17:52

Go out, rain is nice, I am not going but only because my mum has dd's in the morning so i. Shall I do 5 or 6k tommorow I honestly can't decide.
Rain is noce, wear a long sleeved top and as soon as you are warmed up it keeps you lovely and fresh.

wheelybug · 03/06/2008 18:13

Once you're wet, you can't get wetter (says she safe in the knowledge she can't get out today !).

EB - can you plot a course that you could do 5 or 6 K depending on how you are feeling at that point. I usually plot a run that is a certain distance but that I cna tag on another KM if I'm feeling up to it - that way I usually push myself to do the extra KM.

bramblebooks · 03/06/2008 19:00

pmsl wheely - yes really, because I really need the loo but am too comfy and there's too much to catch up on!

My run's on Sunday. ARRRRGH!!!! I've not trained for 10 days as I took the boys camping. Today I went out for a 3k run, will do another tomorrow. I tried the cappuccino method this morning, but am going to stick with black coffee - it repeats less.

Pokes sparkly princess with a pointy stick

leccy barbie - I'm carb loading as well on the day before my 10k, and drinking plenty of water (although not so much to keep me up all night!)

SparklyPrincess · 03/06/2008 19:12

Ow, that hurt Bramble! ;-)

Been out - 27 mins of mostly running, with a bit of walking to pick my way through muddy puddles.

Now I just need to keep it up, so keep that pointy stick handy for Thursday! Good luck for your RFL!

electricbarbarella · 04/06/2008 08:45

So no chinese this sat then ( I wonder why I haven't lost any weight)
I still walk for about 30 secs every 10 mins or so to have a drink, how do you drink and run?
Is it your 10k on Sun Bramble?
have you heard us lot, really, are we the same people that were here in January?

Minum · 04/06/2008 09:58

I've been out of the thread for a while, sounds like everyone is doing great

Had my first run this morning since half-term, managed to do the course (4km), it was quite hard, but it has been at least 10 days, so I glad I completed it. It was warm though, so I may have to think about taking waterm, but dont really want the hassle.

electricbarbarella · 04/06/2008 11:29

Well it is too hot, I have dione 5k in 32mins but I had to walk the last bit. I want to do RFL in under 30 so I may be pushing it, maybe I should change my goal slightly as i don't want to come back dissapointed.
Minum, i have one of those bottles that fits in your hand, it gives me something to think about, ie if i run to the next lamp post i can habve a drink.

wheelybug · 04/06/2008 12:00

Well done everyone for going out in the a) rain yesterday and b) hot sun today !!

Welcome back Minum ! We've missed ya !!

I too have one of those drink bottles that fits in your hand - it makes me feel like a real runner .

I've been out and run almost 7.5K this morning - I'm not sure I am the same person I was in January EB!!!! I also can't believe I'm still doing it. In January I went out in baggy tracksuit bottoms, today I ran in new tightish cropped trousers double . Actually really recommend them and tehy are from the white company belive it or not and weren't shedloads.

electricbarbarella · 04/06/2008 12:05

I have those type of trousers too, I look like a right burk in them but they are soooo comfy.
Not feeling too good after this mornings run, going to put it down to the heat. still look like .

Minum · 04/06/2008 13:06

Its nice to be back WB - I must admit I felt almost tearful when I started running this morning, as it was so nice to be out there again, and taking care of myself again. (different sort of tears by the end though )

Will try out one of those bottles EB, you're right - it would be a good incentive to make the next landmark

electricbarbarella · 04/06/2008 13:43

never thought that water wuld inspire me to do something.
