Best of luck with the training for the 10k, electricbarbarella - I'm thinking of doing one of those, but not til next year!

Have been getting out semi-regularly since RFL, been quite busy with days out and stuff over the last few weeks and that does tend to take priority... Done a couple of 5ks, the last one I actually felt comfortable so I'm pretty pleased with my progress. Going to attempt to up the mileage a bit now, will have to work out a schedule...

A new thread might help drag people in, threads with 900 odd posts can be a bit off-putting for new people, or perhaps everyone's just having a lazy summer?!

Itsthawooluff · 11/08/2008 12:49

I'm still here - had a bit of a quiet period once I'd done RFL. Should have gone straight onto another "target", but had injury and have backslid

BUT I did manage 3 little, little runs whilst on holiday, even though I had to get up at 6.30 to go out before the temperature hit the 30s.

Maybe we need a new thread?

You guys still around?
I have just realised after being really lazy for a while that I have exactly 1month to train for my 10k, better get started tommorow.
doing 4.5k tommorow, 6 Weds and very quick build up from there.

Report
SparklyPrincess · 05/08/2008 15:20

Hi all, RFL went ok. It was something like 27 degrees according to the local paper so I felt justified in struggling!

Ran most of it, but I started off far too fast and kind of ran out of steam after about 3 km.

Time was about 32 mins, but dh's gps watch said it was only 2.6 miles!

Been out a few times since and managed a full 5k without walking!

I'm joining up too! Need to lose this tummy that's caused none of my trousers to fit in the last few months. Have signed up for a charity 5K on 12th October in aid of Hearts Matter. My son was born with hypoplastic left heart syndrome in April 1999 and only lived 8 weeks, so I thought doing this in his memory would keep me motivated. However, having started training about 6 weeks ago, I got off course after going away for a weekend and haven't done anything for a month! And now have a bad cough so have to wait for that to settle down. Am so glad to find the podcasts - I think they will help!

Sparklyprincess How did you get on? I haven't posted for ages - coz I haven't run for ages either but I keep popping in as I want to pick it up again at some stage.

Flier My dh bought me one of those Timex Ironman Ladies watch - is really good, especially when I first started doing walks/runs as you can have different timers running eg. beep after 2 minutes, then beep after 5 minutes and tell it how many times to repeat, it'll do overall stopwatch at the same time - I think its about £45 from internet or running shop, mines purple/black

hello ladies, this thread has been quite quiet recently.

Anyway, just wanted to ask if anyone can recommend me a decent watch with a stopwatch - what do you all use to time yourselves?
I can't see anything decent anywhere and have quite small wrists so getting a mens watch is probably out of the question.

Hello! It's my RFL this Sunday - bit nervous now!

Did 30 mins on Monday, going to try to do 5k tomorrow then do 25 or 30 mins on Friday.

Have been on holiday down in Cornwall and managed to get out for a few runs there. Lovely to run in the country, bit of a culture shock when I got back and there were all these car things around!

I'm off running for a couple of weeks. Have sprained or strained (can't remember which) my ankle. Doc says to rest it till it doesn't hurt when I walk and then build up to running. Complete PITA as I wan't to do the relay for life in september.

popping in to wave! I'm in the midst of this knackered fluey thing and my ds2 has just started insulin pump therapy instead of loads of daily injections for his diabetes.

In the words of Arnie, I'll be back!

Well I am only on week one and I feel awful when I am trying to run.
I have done very little for the last few months due to being ill, and I can really notice the difference. Think I might stay on week one for two weeks and see how I go!

I'm on the couch for the next week. I ran on my gammy ankle last night (it felt better) and have spent today limping about again. So DH has buggered of with Rawb and my MP3 player, has started at week 4 and is going to prove to me that it's not as hard as I make it look.

I think when my ankle gets better, I'll go back to week 2 and start there. Need to get this better as I want to do the relay for life in september.

Hi ladies. Please can I join? I posted on the first thread many months ago but never started the programme. I have had health issues which are now resolved (got rid of my angry gall bladder complete with many stones!), so I need to get fit! I was thinking of starting tomorrow morning, now or never!
