help me get my mojo back.

LadyJogsAlot · 13/05/2008 16:29

dita, go out and do a short jog.
warm up 5, jog 10, cool down 5.
you'll be back in 20 mins and back on the wagon...

ditavonteesed · 13/05/2008 16:37

thats a good plan, I have cleaned house and changed all bed's etc today so it might be nice to go out. Only problem is a neighbour who is absolutly lovely asked if she could come with me, I like going on my own at the moment, need head space. should I just sneak out and say it was a last minute decision?
Sarting to really worry about the 10k now, I know I can do 5 so that is Ok.
fingers are crossed for you, it is a bit cooler today should should be nicer.

Minum · 14/05/2008 07:06

LJA Ooo the "stone club" I feel very honoured - how did the 25 minuter go ?

Dita - I think you have to be firm with anyone who wants to come with you, and tell them you are on a program, so its easier to do it on your own, or something like that. I love that one bit of time to myself in the day.

LadyJogsAlot · 14/05/2008 08:42

did it with a few stops to pick up poo

feel so tired today...

Itsthawooluff · 14/05/2008 12:06

I did 28 mins today - so am well chuffed, but why is that additional 3 minutes sooooooo hard? Everything aches, and I did 25 mins On Sunday with nothing like as much stiffness afterwards.

LadyJogsAlot · 14/05/2008 12:26

wow wooluffy!
you a super star *

Wheelybug · 14/05/2008 12:33

Well done for getting out LJA and well done Wooluff on going the extra 3 mins !

Dita- I don't like running with other people - not that i've actually tried it but I don't think I'd be able to run as far or as fast without ipod on and tuning out. A friend of mine was triyng to get me out with her but I am avoiding the idea so far !

Have just been out for my penultimate run before RFL - yikes - it is much cooler today so managed to beat my 5K time, did it in just under 27 mins so was v. pleased with that. So far weather for Sunday is looking pretty good, sunny but only 18 degrees..... but that could all change !

RFL top still hasn't come...b oo....

Theresa · 14/05/2008 14:56

Well done for losing a stone, I feel there is no justice as i'm not losing any weight, not really 'dieting' but trying to be sensible, never mind. Dita I agree with the advice about going out for a'quickie'. Whenever i'm feeling that i've lost it i have a route of 2.99 miles (just under 5k?) that i do, takes about half an hour so still not as quick as some of you but it cheers me up. I agree about running with other people, I'm a bit selfish, like to go at a time that suits me rather than tie in woth other peoples plans and at my pace and also with my ipod. Not heavily into music but have downloaded some good podcasts to get you thinking (or laughing if its Jonathon Ross!). Good luck for the weekend Wheely

Theresa · 14/05/2008 14:59

ps, what sort of top are people running in? I go for any t short lying around, some baggy, some fitted but starting to find that some of them are 'chaffing' just under the top of my right arm. Does this mean I have to buy expensive running tops? I suspect it must be the seam under the arm and thought I could maybe run with them on inside out , I'm not terribly bothered about how i look (and that's not just whilst running but that may be a step too far down!

Wheelybug · 14/05/2008 15:37

Theresa I run in 'sports' tshirts - I have an ancient one from M&S but hte elastic is all poking out of the lycra.. nice... I also have bought two of these www.sportsdirect.com/product-Gear-V-neck-Tee-654128.htm but really they aren't any different to normal t-shirts so don't really think it matters, although obv if its chafing then maybe you need something different ?
I do tend to wear a close fitting top rather than baggy which might make a diff ?

Minum · 14/05/2008 16:30

I'm now running in a fairly close fitting camisole top (made from t-shirt material), with a sports bra, and a crop top underneath. Looks a bit messy with all the straps, but I havent had any chafing problems.

SparklyPrincess · 14/05/2008 16:39

Not exactly a long distance runner but I normally run in 'walking' t-shirts (Peter Storm, that sort of stuff!). They're made not to chafe on long walks but have less of the lycra that my womanly physique doesn't appreciate!

I did week 6 run 1 last night so I'll catch you lot up and be a 'proper' runner one day soon! Possibly

ditavonteesed · 14/05/2008 16:42

I have had some running trousers for my birthday so I have to go out soon, not today though.

Theresa · 14/05/2008 17:22

thanks everyone, was thinking after i typed it that a vest/camisole wld be the obvious answer!

spamm · 14/05/2008 23:23

Hi all - have been away and off running for a while , but went out this evening and wanted to let you know I am doing my damndest to not give up.

I think I am feeling nervous about next steps - the thought of running more than a couple of minutes at a time with Rawb just frightens me. But I am really determined not to give up. So am going to try week 3 podcast and beyond .

I will go out on Friday as well and let you know how I am doing.

Well done to all - you are all an inspiration. I would like to think that if you can do it I can.

UnderRated · 15/05/2008 04:44

I fell off the wagon last week but am back on. Can anyone tell me what I have to do for week 4? I'm having trouble downloading the podcast. Week 3 is far easier now than the first time I did it. It's amazing how your body adapts. I'm ready for a challenge again

Furball · 15/05/2008 06:54

I went out yesterday morning but because I'd been out sunday and monday found it hard. Was supposed to go today as well (I Know! but I've got slimming world tonight) and was out late last night, think I'll leave it til tomorrow.

OP posts:
Minum · 15/05/2008 07:06

run 5mins walk 2mins
run 3mins walk 90secs
run 5 mins

Walkthedinosaur · 15/05/2008 07:14

Hi all, have been following your posts with interest but have never posted before, am just about to move on to week 2 but I think I need to come on here to get some motivation. I was going to go for a run this morning after the school run but all of a sudden a cup of coffee on the sofa looks really tempting. Please give me the kick up the backside I need, summer's coming I need to tone up.

ditavonteesed · 15/05/2008 07:55

Walkthedinosaur, off you go.
Spamm glad your back.
I am going out tonight, I am I am Iam, I need to test my new trousers out. I have a 2 mile route, which is about 3K I think so I might do that. then back to 5 at the weekend.
So who has the big one this weekend?

Walkthedinosaur · 15/05/2008 08:33

Yay I did it. Now for that sit down and relax before the day's work starts.

Minum · 15/05/2008 08:42

Well done WTD - its a great feeling isnt it - you can really enjoy that coffee now

EffiePerine · 15/05/2008 08:48

I'm going to have to bow out of this thread I think . Morning sickness well and truly kicked in, plus cold that will NOT go away and persistent cough that's aggravating my asthma. Sigh. Walking for me for the time being...

ditavonteesed · 15/05/2008 08:59

Effie, go easy on yourself, keep active and it will make the whole thing easier and you can rejoin the running this time next year when we all have to start again because we let it go completly over the winter . Still keep on here though, or we will miss you.
