DWW, stick to a short jog if you got a big one on sun imo.

just got back from my jog, did 4k in 27mins!
feeling very tired now
it's soooo hot out today.

how is everyone?

Theresa · 07/05/2008 22:38

Yes hot today, I ran for 8.6 miles today (about 13k i think!) well chuffed, as ever pretty slow, about 11 1/2 mins per mile but I did it, my longest run to date. First half was along the sea front and that was warm, but inland on the way back along a 'country track' was so hot, like wheelybug said, playing 'hunt the shade'! Good luck for Sunday Debbie, try not to worry, just enjoy it and be chuffed that you did it regardless of time!

LadyJogsAlot · 08/05/2008 08:48

bloody hell theresa!

ditavonteesed · 08/05/2008 09:04

make me go out tonight. please.

Furball · 08/05/2008 09:16

just got back from my final 4 km run before my weigh in tonight. I've done all I can, crickey I've probably lost it in sweat alone never mind fat it's bloody hot running out there.

Wheelybug · 08/05/2008 11:16

Good luck for Sunday Deb - you're the first to get to RFL I think. Don't overdo it before then. Let us know what its like !

Wow Teresa - great going !! That must have been blardy hot and tiring !

Well done LJA !!

Go on Dita... out you go....

I think I'm going out this evening which is a bit of a rare thing for me. DH isn't normally home from work in time but a mixture of the credit crunch and the sun means he has no work and not much inclination so I can wait until tonight to run instead of going out now in the full heat. Hoorah ! Am hoping to get out saturday too so I will have done 4 runs this week (wnat to increase it as my weight seems to have plateaued (sp?) so need another push).

Have just bought some jersey cotton shorts in matalan for £3. Just need some courage to wear them out in public .

Theresa · 08/05/2008 11:58

My 'tracki bottoms' had that lining in them wheelybug but I cut it out. I bought some 3/4 length lycra leggings a while ago in anticipation of the warmer weather and they came out today for the first time as I de-fuzzed my legs yesterday whihc is a pretty rare event! Went for bike ride today with some mums from school wearing them and they are nice and comfy and much better than the tracki bottoms. Cant see me risking shorts though!

LadyJogsAlot · 08/05/2008 13:58

thanks wheely

Wheelybug · 08/05/2008 17:08

I hadn't thought of that Theresa - are they comfy like that ? Imagine they might chafe !

Will see if I can brave shorts later ... although not entirely sure I'll make it out, first day of AF so not feeling on top form physically but would probably do me good mentally as AF arriving is not a good thing.

ditavonteesed · 08/05/2008 18:23

wheely.

Wheelybug · 08/05/2008 20:40

thanks Dita (have you been out for that run ?)...

Have just run 5.25 k. Braved the shorts and no one fainted that I noticed. Is still hot hot hot though...

debbiewebweb · 08/05/2008 21:25

Wow theresa 13k fantastic.

Thanks for all your support ladies - I'm hoping it will cool down a bit by sunday. Have bought some 3/4 joggers for the big event and I just went to gym last night in the end and did 4k but found it difficult to stay motivated, that shouldn't be a problem on sunday. Am not going out again before sunday and I'll let you know how I get on

ditavonteesed · 09/05/2008 07:40

good luck debbie.
I never quite made it out for that run, I think I last went on sunday but I can't quite remember, as long as I go out by the end of the weekend should be ok.

Minum · 09/05/2008 07:49

Went out last night with DS - did short bursts of run/jog/walk which was quite hard.

Wore short leggings/shorts, and camisole, looked porky, but not as bad as I was expecting They'd been at the back of the cupboard for a long time, so good to give them a wearing.

Good luck to everyone running today

LadyJogsAlot · 09/05/2008 08:44

good luck debbie.
i'm back looking after dh's gma for the next week or so. there's a running machine there but i hate using it. can't get motivated to jog for long when i'm not going anywhere iykwim!

come on dita!

Theresa · 09/05/2008 21:28

wheely, they are fine with lining cut out. Hve run today in my 'proper' 3/4 length lycra runing leggings and they are very comfy and you cool down quite quickly so I think they;re worth the money, (they were £13 per pair of 2 for £20 from start fitness). Good luck for weekend Debbie. Dita??

Furball · 10/05/2008 09:13

DEBBIE DEBBIE DEBBIE DEBBIE DEBBIE DEBBIE

All the very best for your run debbie - hope it's not too hot for you and also hope you enjoy it.

bramblebooks · 10/05/2008 09:18

morning guys, off for a 3 or 5k depending how I feel - was so rickety after my longer run.

Love my 3/4 length leggings, and they've got 2 pockets, one with a zip for a housekey, the other one I bung my ipod in.

debbiewebweb · 10/05/2008 18:03

Thanks Furball, am no longer hopeful I'll be able to run it all, feeling a bit daunted but I'll give it a go hoping to enjoy and praying its not as hot as today. Hopefully the crowd and the moment will spur me on a bit - the family won't be there to share though as dd2 woke up with chicken pox yesterday

Furball · 10/05/2008 18:26

You'll be fine debbie, it doesn't matter if you have to walk abit every so often does it? and imagine how proud you'll feel at the end.

OP posts:
debbiewebweb · 10/05/2008 19:14

Yes you're absolutely right furball, just put kids to bed and started looking thro' my RFL stuff. Reading inspirational stories about battles with cancer and remembering how far I've come actually running at all, and I'm feeling quite excited.
Its my first one, its for charity, it gave me a goal to get off my ass and I'll be back again next year fitter and faster. Go Girls

Wheelybug · 10/05/2008 19:31

Will be thinking of you tomorrow Debbie - go for it ! And of course, it doesn't matter if you walk a bit (I know people doing various RFL who fully intend to walk the whole thing). Shame about DD2 though - hope she's not too itchy !

Have just been out and run almost 7K. It was so hard though. I had wanted to run 10K as DH had run 10.5 miles this morning (grrrr) but it was so airless. Nevermind, it was my 4th run this week so hopefully should shift some flab.

Am having a mad moment of thinking about entering the marathon ballot which closes on monday.... Its in almost a year as its on 26 April next year and dd goes to pre-school 5 mornings in september so I will have plenty of time to train.... but I was planning on 2010. DH is thinking of it and I don't want him to steal my thunder as I started this running malarky .

Theresa · 10/05/2008 21:07

Good luck Debbie, shame about you not having the family to greet you at the finish, never mind you will feel chuffed at doing it never mind how long it takes.
Wheely, go for it. I've a place in the Great NOrth Run in October and about a month ago I set off on a 6 mile run and half way along I thought 'sod it I can;t do this' and had to ring DH to come and pick me up as I had no money . I told DH I couldnt do it and was going to stick to running 5 miles or less and give my place to someone else. DH pursuded me to wait until June and think again. I ran 8 1/2 miles on Wednesday and now feel I can do it, though lord knows how long it'll take me!
You're obviously looking at a run twice as long as mine but it gives you a goal, and if you get nearer the time and really feel you can;t do it, I'm sure you'll find someone to take your place!

Wheelybug · 10/05/2008 22:58

Thanks Theresa - DH and I have decided not to enter the ballot and see how we're going by autumn and then get a charity place if we really want to do it. I quite like the idea of my slow build up and doing it 2010 but we'll see. Great North Run is on my schedule too, but next year !

Hope you're tucked up in bed getting rested and prepared Debs !!

Itsthawooluff · 11/05/2008 15:05

I can see everyone has been busy whilst I have been stuffing my face with icecream in Rome (dh's 50th). I tried to run in Rome, but it was built on 7 hills, and I'm not up to running uphill yet obviously, so walked and then did 15 minute run down.

Italians all still wondering around in jackets as hasn't yet reached 30 degrees, and I'm running past red as beetroot because I'm so hot - .

So after my food fest, I ran this morning, but could only manage 25 mins (but at 0.5 gradient all the way).

Hi Furball - still coughing a bit, but generally OK.

Debbie - how did it go?
