For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Hey, I've just thought, if you're still MNing when ds or dc2 has children, you can be GrannyandZooey

FrannyandZooey · 16/03/2008 21:40
Hmm
Boco · 16/03/2008 21:57

How about Franny&Zoeufy?

TooTicky · 16/03/2008 21:59

Boco, that's very good.

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 16/03/2008 22:00

it's better than mine but I saw a couple of oeufs around earlier
wonder if I could be FrannyandSpiegelEi?

FrannyandZooey · 16/03/2008 22:01

also you must admit Zoeufry sounds like it should be on my pretentious arty names thread

Boco · 16/03/2008 22:03

It would be a contender!

I can't think of one, my name is never any good for changing, unless it's to play pirates, as bocohoandabottleofrum was ok.

FrannyandZooey · 16/03/2008 22:04

but you have an easter themed PROFILE boco
v forward thinking of you

TooTicky · 16/03/2008 22:06

Talking of eggs, ds1 said he'd rather have boiled eggs than chocolate eggs for Easter
And dd1 wants a Lush egg.

I'm a shit newbie. Day 2 and I'm off the wagon. Or wheelbarrow, whatever.

I DID walk on Weston SM beach with a non aerodynamic pram in a fairly fierce wind for about 20 mins wind hampered and then back wind assisted. [Hopeful eyebrows raised emoticon].

WSM is unbelievably awful. If you had a choice of Torremolinos or WSM, at least Torremolinos has sun. Gah.

However... Veggies...

Practically nuffink. I had a smoothie for B/fast, 2 pints for lunch (see above - the healthy option) and chicken n cider casserole for dinner. Spot the theme.

TooTicky · 16/03/2008 22:11

WSM in this weather ? Good God! I remember the day I took dd1 there, lifted her out of the buggy and the wind blew her straight over - thunk!

OP posts:
TooTicky · 16/03/2008 22:12

Yes, WSM counts as exercise at just about any time of year.
Incidentally, I had my first snog there. In the dunes.

OP posts:
eternalstudent · 16/03/2008 22:13

SpottyWellies - no, not sure why I'm stalking cod... easy name to remember?

eternalstudent · 16/03/2008 22:16

There are dunes there? Mud dunes? You should see what they're doing there now. ALMOST tasteful.

TooTicky · 16/03/2008 22:18

No no, real sand dunes! Face the sea, turn left, then walk for quite a while

OP posts:
TooTicky · 16/03/2008 22:19

What are they doing? Haven't been for a couple of years - not since my grandmother was in the hospital there.

At the end of the beach, where there was a built wall out in the sea (uh pier type thing?!) they have redeveloped redrow style - but REALLY nice. Loads of small and large buildings in diff colours and roof heights and styles. And they've built a mini dam and are making a sandy beach in that little cove.

Hate to be enthusiastic especially as I live in Bristol not WSM but it looks really good.

Scuse the thread hijack!

eternalstudent · 16/03/2008 22:25

God I'm dull!! The 2 pints at lunch was a clue TooT

TooTicky · 16/03/2008 22:27

Ooh, perhaps we'll go and have a look one day.

Have you been in Bristol long? I lived there for years.

OP posts:
eternalstudent · 16/03/2008 22:34

Moved here in 97 to go to uni and never left. A typical Bristol story... DH has been here even longer, we ran (badly) a couple of businesses together.

TooTicky · 16/03/2008 22:40

Ah, I moved there when I was 2 or 3, then left in 2001. I was quite glad to escape

The boat looks fabulous.

I spent the day at Massage School

If I had:

a) a visa
b) $15,000 spare
c) someone to take care of DS
d) some sort of income

I think I'd enroll. I think I could be a good massage therapist. But, alas, I have none of the requirements so shall continue to wallow in self-pity.

I went to Weston once. It was cold. And muddy. And the sea was miles out.

TooTicky · 16/03/2008 23:00

It is always muddy and sealess. No, actually, I did see the tide in once.

Is there no other way into massage? No subsidised training? It seems v. expensive.
