For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

actually he tells me it isn't hammering, he is operating on a small wooden man, with a wooden knife and a hammer

he is apparently removing his tonsils

Boco · 16/03/2008 09:42

dd2 was awful in the night, getting really wheezy and wailing that her chest hurt and kicking and getting into a panic. I did think about emergency doctor but dp wouldn't move. She coughed for HOURS. So thought that this morning it would be straight to the surgery for steroids, but she was up at 7 singing loudly and is now painting and still singing, so think the dr would do eye rolling. Whereas I can barely make my eyeballs move.

TigerFeet · 16/03/2008 10:14

Poor dd2 and poor you Boco. Coughs are horrible, esp with the wheezing, they keep everyone awake

RL crapness:
dd did not get a place at our local school. I am going to have to drive her across town, a total of 15 miles (there, back, there, back again) or so every day and somehow fit work in or arrange childcare near the school. We are appealing against the decision.

Work has been ridiculously busy with lots of new product launches. I have been doing far too many hours and dd's behaviour and sleeping have suffered. I am feeling shit and guilty about it. DH has his head stuck firmly in the sand about the whole work/dd issue and is being extremely irritating.

My eating is shit and my health is suffering accordingly. I am wheezy and riddled with candida and have put on the weight I worked so hard to lose. I need to lose weight so I don't feel so worn out but I can't seem to stop eating rubbish.

Otherwise, all is well in the house of feet . I have had no less than three uncunting (or should that be noncunting?) mangoes since I last posted. I thought of you all with each delicious mouthful.

ZippiBabes · 16/03/2008 10:19

oh tigerfeet that all sounds horrid

hope you succeed with the appeal

BBBee · 16/03/2008 10:31

hello

oh what a miserable day. Tiger that is horrid - I hope you get in with the appeal but don;t know much about these things.

Zippi - it is lovely to see you back.

FZ - the joke was crap and even boco didn;t get it - in my mind it was all sid james and hattie jacques - on screen it made me look like a pervert. Sadly, your baby has to be called wolfie or mika (or sid maybe...)

Boco - oh no poor tired you. How not nice at all. Glad dd is better but you must be shattered. If I wasn;t on this thread I would prescribe you a nice coffee.

FrannyandZooey · 16/03/2008 12:43

Boco we have had similar with ds sounding appalling in the night - like a seal - then being right as rain in the morning. You must be shattered. Hope you can have a peaceful day.

TigerFeet what a lot of difficult stuff happening. At least the mango god is smiling on you. The rest is shit though, let us know if we can do anything

Boco · 16/03/2008 13:06

We're having a piano given to us for free today - and we have a very tiny house so no actual room, so the whole place is being rearranged - it's like a maths puzzle trying to fit it all in, but am determined. Sacrificing anywhere to sit.

FrannyandZooey · 16/03/2008 13:47

blimey
friend has my piano as we have nowhere to put it
well nowhere that I want to put it

Tatties · 16/03/2008 14:01

I always wanted a piano when I was little

Boco · 16/03/2008 14:32

I did too Tatties. My dad is teaching piano to a ten year old and he said using the money he's getting he'll pay for dd1 to have lessons. I never learned an instrument and would like dds to be able to. So, thought it would be nice. But now it's in and after half an hour of dds banging tunelessly on it, I think I may have made a horrendous mistake. And all the furniture still in the middle of the room.

UnderRated · 16/03/2008 14:57

Zippi, why are you doing someone else's garden? And what are you doing in London today?

I read the Kite Runner and thought it was really good but I don't think I want to see the film, especially after what you said about it. I think it woud be too depressing. His other books are meant to be good too but, having finished The Catcher in the Rye again, I am back to chick lit for a while

Oh Boco - sorry your DD2 had such a bad night but am glad she seems to have recoevered. Shame you haven't.

Hope all goes well with the Doula, Franny.

Tigerfeet, you sound miserable but you have had mango success, so at least something has been going well.

at piano

I must go so I don't miss the train. Hope you all have a lovely day.

FrannyandZooey · 16/03/2008 15:01

Friends I bring you pictures of THE BOAT [ooooh]

it turns out to be metal and not wood
dp didn't notice this apparently
he is still sanding it (I think it could have been made out of polystyrene and he would have been determined to sand it)
I am nervous
he doesn't know what the fuck he is doing
it looks like a big old flaky boat made of metal
ds is going to LOVE it

FrannyandZooey · 16/03/2008 15:02

it's going to take a LOT of sand, isn't it?

lionheart · 16/03/2008 15:08

Ahoy there.

lionheart · 16/03/2008 15:08

God, Franny, you aren't planning to sail somewhere are you?

FrannyandZooey · 16/03/2008 15:19

no wolfie lucian clem I think
it was a good thread that

we have found sand for £5 for 25 k, so far
I think we need maybe 200k so I want it cheaper

dp in garden doing terrible things with a hose

ahundredtimes · 16/03/2008 15:19

I was just looking at your boat when dd came along and asked what it was for. I explained, and she said 'you can't fill it ALL with sand, it's got good seats. Fill up the top bit where it says 17 with sand, and leave the rest for playing. You could put a net over it so it's like a private kind of place.'

The net idea is but I sort of see what she means about leaving some to play in, what with the benches and things. Though it may have to be the middle section rather than the ends otherwise it might tip up?

I like this boat v. much.

Hope everyone is okay, and that dd's and ds's are better tonight.

FrannyandZooey · 16/03/2008 15:20

lionheart no it is for a sandpit!

FrannyandZooey · 16/03/2008 15:21

yes I agree about good seats
I thought I could cover the lower seat and leave the higher one on dry land

I think if I leave bits with no sand in he will straight away fill them up

ahundredtimes · 16/03/2008 15:23

DD has just popped back and said 'tell her she should probably put some food in there too'

Could you board up the middle section? Though you are right that would happen - though if the middle was boarded, he could shift some from one bit to another, and make tunnels and things.

FrannyandZooey · 16/03/2008 15:23

can anyone think of a name for the boat?
not wolfie

FrannyandZooey · 16/03/2008 15:24

I like these ideas 100
I think if I mention them to dp he may hit me get a bit tetchy
he's out there grappling with it and I have hired a teenager to look after ds so I can be horizontal for the afternoon

Boco · 16/03/2008 15:27

Get ds to name it. We built dd1 a play house for her 3rd birthday and she named it 'Visity House' and we made a plaque and everything.
