For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Think this thread is the salvation I've been looking for. Been eating nowt but crap these days culminating in feeling really tired and bloated [d'uh emoticon] Need to eat more fresh stuff and get rid of this chocolate craving. Think I'll hit the market later for some F&V, and def. need to drink more water.

FrannyandZooey · 04/03/2008 09:09

oh yay, you found us Anastastia
make yourself at home, and let us know how you are getting on

Chocolate cravings are hard. Am wondering if cocoa nibs would be a solution... but the theory is too expensive to test.

AnastasiaBeaverhousen · 04/03/2008 09:15

Just need to drag my ass out of bed, but it's so warm and cosy. Dog is snoring at the foot and baby has nodded off next to me.

AnastasiaBeaverhousen · 04/03/2008 09:17

Thanks Franny , I'm a bit slow keeping up....

lionheart · 04/03/2008 09:18

Hello, d+ds.

S1ur · 04/03/2008 09:44

Signing in.

Reckon I probably managed about 8-10ish yesterday and forced myself to do ab workout for 10 min

Had
fruit juice
tomatoes on toast
bean and veg soup
fruit salad
chicken salad (and chips )

I've been much more aware of how much fruit and veg there is in our diet and decided to join the kids for fruit salad when usually I'd have just had another coffee

So far today I've pretty much just had fruit juice

lullabyloo · 04/03/2008 09:52

welcome Anastasia

raspberries
blackberries
blueberries
lychees

quinoa

lullabyloo · 04/03/2008 09:57

ds is fed up with the carpeter
& the boiler man
for some reason they wont allow him to help or play with their tools
He is sticking googly eyes on green aliens & muttering about sharing nicely

lullabyloo · 04/03/2008 09:57

carpenter
not carpeter

TooTicky · 04/03/2008 11:09

LL, that is wonderful

TooTicky · 04/03/2008 11:29

I have just wrestled 2 loads of washing onto the line, including a normally peaceable duvet cover, some rather excitable towels and about 348 pairs of knickers. I may have won this battle but fear they are even now plotting against me. Our garden must be one of the windiest places on earth.

FrannyandZooey · 04/03/2008 11:35

I just cleaned my fridge
there was sentient life in there

OP posts:
TooTicky · 04/03/2008 11:39

I don't clean the fridge very often It's a job I hate. Especially as it's a battle to get the shelves out.

Boco · 04/03/2008 12:44

I just went for a drive with dp in preparation for tomorrows lesson. It didn't go brilliantly. Dd2 started channeling past lives in the back which was distracting and there was generally far too much shouting on both sides. And it was only on an airfield.

ahundredtimes · 04/03/2008 13:10

lol @ chanelling past lives. Poor you, hopefully no aeroplanes about though?

DS1 will have done this dreaded exam by now. I hope we are all thinking of him. He sat on my bed this morning and said 'it's really time to get up now' and I said 'how are you feeling' I managed not to say 'Booo hoooo, Franny says it's awful, and I think I'm scarring you for life'. However I did say, 'think of what the worst thing that can happen is, and then say to yourself, 'well forgetting every note and making the clarinet squeak was awful, but look now I'm still walking about and now I'm going home and everything is as normal, and I will watch The Simposons and it is all over.'

That was my rousing speech from the duvet.

FrannyandZooey · 04/03/2008 14:12

"I managed not to say 'Booo hoooo, Franny says it's awful, and I think I'm scarring you for life'."

LOL well done you, I do hope it went alright and I am sorry I went on about it. I think it touched a nerve.

just had stupid experience in Sainsburys trying to do huge shop on my own with ds and a granny trolley

bag for life handle broke and contents crashed to ground, including bottle of salad dressing which promptly broke. All over other contents of bag, salad dressing and glass everywhere etc. Still I had paid for the shopping so told lad on checkout what had happened - he passed me a j-cloth
so I sat for next 10 minutes on floor mopping salad dressing off things, while old ladies stepped over me and went "ooooh dear, is no-one helping you, ooooh"

then a woman appeared with a cloth and said "what is that smell, has something spilt?" I said yes. She said "well where is it and I will mop it up." I said "it is all over me, as I have just spent 10 minutes clearing it off my shopping" to which she shouted to a cashier over the other side "don't worry, it's just this lady that smells" LOLOL

don't ask why I didn't get someone to help me, it was one of those moments

anyway friend coming round unexpecedly, ooh here they are

OP posts:
lullabyloo · 04/03/2008 15:08

oh poor franny
how annoying

,

ds is asleep after most exhausting hilly bike ride
there is a very loud nail gun being used too

well done Boco
Toot...did you get a packet?

filthymindedvixen · 04/03/2008 16:12

I have never measured a teapot before. Hope you understand this...

It is 20 inches round (50cms?) and 9 inches from top of lid to base.

It is blue and green, a Capricorn and enjoys water-skiing and Trivial Persuit....

filthymindedvixen · 04/03/2008 16:14

Slur, whereabouts in Yorks are you??

Soothing vibes to 100 and her musical prodigy

Soothing hugs to Franny and her smelly salad dressing

Welcome to AnastasiaBeaverhousen

And I have had a totally gorgeous Mango, some carrot and lentil soup and will be attempting to cram 7 potions of veg into the Shepherd's pie....

FrannyandZooey · 04/03/2008 18:15

it has not been a very 10ish day
is it too late to salvage this we ask ourselves?
as dp goes out and leaves me to have dinner alone and a sausage sandwich makes its siren call from the kitchen

OP posts:
ahundredtimes · 04/03/2008 18:36

Oh god FMV he is so far from a prodigy, which is what makes this such a 'WHAT was that about?' thing.
Anyway, he has returned unscathed. He was quite funny about it actually. After he'd played his first piece the examiner said 'Right, now for your second please. I want you try your best on this one' and he thought 'I thought I'd just done my best actually.'

Right, drama over. Thank you for listening.

I have eaten one piece of lettuce today, a tomato, two apples and a handful of grapes. Not good. Am about to eat courgettes and green beans and parsnips and carrots with a garlic chicken, so that might be okay.

FrannyandZooey · 04/03/2008 18:41

LOL he does not sound as if his spirit is going to be crushed by this experience 100
he sounds fab

can anyone persuade me to eat a salad instead of a sausage sandwich? anyone? no?

OP posts:
Tatties · 04/03/2008 18:57

LOL FMV sorry for shouting, I am just very eager to start it [almost premenstrual] I think that makes sense, thank you. My teapot is also blue and green

I have had an unusually sociable day and I feel a bit drained. Made a lovely stir-fry for dinner with lots of vegetables.

How was the sausage sandwich Franny?
