For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

FrannyandZooey · 17/02/2008 09:31

Oh GOD ds has found an old copy of Fungus the Bogeyman and is absolutely delighted with it OH GOD

OverRated · 17/02/2008 09:34

I love Fungus the bogeyman. I think DS will too but he's a bit young atm.

Yes, should probably be asleep but am not tired. Am never sure what to do at this time of day.

FrannyandZooey · 17/02/2008 09:41

Well Over you can come here and read the revolting bits (ie the whole thing) to him, ok?

OverRated · 17/02/2008 09:45

Ooo, yes, would happily do that. Although, it's been a long time since I read it and I suppose I might be a bit shocked. Was it the same guy who wrote the Father Christmas book? It had great pictures.

ZippiBabes · 17/02/2008 09:51

what time is it

zippi bores or by constantly asking what time it is

ZippiBabes · 17/02/2008 09:52

OverRated · 17/02/2008 09:58

Its 4 am now. Am wondering if I should just 'get up' now . And it's pissing down so I probably won't be able to get outside today.

OverRated · 17/02/2008 09:59

Am sure a 4 yr old would like it. I remember reading it when I was about 6

filthymindedvixen · 17/02/2008 10:01

ooohhh. i got to bed at 4am. and was awake at 7, ohhhhh.....

ZippiBabes · 17/02/2008 10:02

oh dear

that is about the time i went to bed i think

no get some sleep overrated

FrannyandZooey · 17/02/2008 10:03

he is giving me a running commentary on it

"ooooh he gets his clothes from a pool of green water! Oooh he likes slimey slugs! ooooooh Mummy!"

Over could you not sleep or at least lie down and rest for another couple of hours? It might help you face the day

OverRated · 17/02/2008 10:10

I laid in bed for a while reading but am wide awake and don't want to lie there getting annoyed.

Ho was the poetry FMV?

Anyone doing anything exciting today?

ZippiBabes · 17/02/2008 10:14

i am going to do some work once i leave my bed

i was going to meet an mner tonight but she is not very well so we have postponed

Boco · 17/02/2008 11:43

How was the reading Filthy? Did you go down a storm? Is that actually an expression or did I make it up?

We've done something every day of half term, today is the first no-plan day, which should be nice really - but dp is still in bed with hangover and the girls are LOUD and I want to go out. It's a nice day here. But, back to school tomorrow so should sort and arrange and tidy and stuff. [bored]

FrannyandZooey · 17/02/2008 12:05

just in case my life sounds like one long whirl of fruit eating and cinema trips

TooTicky · 17/02/2008 12:51

I pierced my own ear once. I used to have 4 in my right, 3 in my left and one in my nose. And then I became allergic to metal.
Dd1 clamoured to have hers done when she was 9 (or was it 8?), had one done and then couldn't face the other. She let it close up after a bit. Then she had them both done a bit later but they went horribly pussy and one actually disappeared inside the flesh of her ear for a bit She very sensibly gave up after that. It obviously didn't agree with her.

filthymindedvixen · 17/02/2008 14:21

hello, I have been dozing all day - and feel awful as the weather is so lovely. I am too old to stay up all night.

The reading was ace, people were very kind and clapped! And my friend was all teary
(and some people even came up to me hours later and said they loved my poem.) The adrenaline afterwards was tremendous. I am a very closet extrovert....

TooTicky · 17/02/2008 14:57

That's great fmv

Have just had short glorious time in the garden spoiled by ds1. He invited ds2 to play football, didn't give him a chance, ds2 went inside upset, ds1 went in to persuade him back and poured water over him.
I am now nasty impatient pissed off mummy.

FrayedKnot · 17/02/2008 15:40

Hi everyone

MrsC I can;t add any useful advice but you've just got to keep plugging away at getting whatever help you can I think...

We've been to have lunch with my grandmother - she is 95 today...DS was impeccably behaved thank goodness - we went for a long walk by the sea beforehand to work up our appetites - now he is fast asleep on the sofa.

So anyway we had cabbage & mashed swede for lunch...and I've had no fruit expect for a chunk of pineapple in a sponge pudding ...so today is not panning out awfully well...and I'm going to make cake shortly

FrayedKnot · 17/02/2008 15:43

How on earth do people manage on so little sleep?

I went to bed at 10 last night, which is the only way I can cope with 6.45 awakenings.

littlerach · 17/02/2008 16:02

Same here, Frayde Knot. On the odd occasion when I am out and so late ot bed, I feel terrible the nextday.

Mrs Carrot, dd1 is clamouring to have her ears pierced too. She is almost 7. We have said that if she does have them done it has to be in the summer hols. At Clares they do it with 2 guns, so they don't have to have it done twice, IYSWIM.

TooTicky, i did my own ear at the top when I was about 15, but it went green and yucky.
Another friend tried to do her own nose, using a frozen chipolata up her nose

FMV, I ma so glad it went well.

It is my birthday next week and I would like ot make myself a good carrot cake. Any recipes?

If not, i will do a choc, pear and hazelnut one I htink. But I owuld like to do a carrot one. Please?!!

filthymindedvixen · 17/02/2008 16:05

MrsC, if you want to CAT me to moan/whinge/wail/cry/rant about dyslexia etc, I have been there with ds1 (and am still there!) )
