For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Yes, I think you must go in and make smiling noises. Do what you said, ask to see the IEP and make an appointment with SENCO. Look outside of school too. The school probably won't get any help outside in dealing with dyslexia - it isn't deemed 'important' enough. They are probably between a rock and hard place too.

It'll be okay.

Specialist help will be out there, if you can find it.

Right. Off to bed now. Nice cup of your favourite tea and a book.

Be all Anne like on Monday morning. Good old Anne, she's an awful narrow-minded old bag, but god she can be useful sometimes.

MrsCarrot · 16/02/2008 23:19

Yes, the head did say even if there is a diagnosis of dslexia, it ends there.

I am off to bed too, after tea and a turn, though it will be brief as it's bloody freezing.

Thanks again.

Goodness Franny, how scary for you. Hope things are better now! What accent do you have then?

Sorry about school problems, Mrs C. Sounds very stressful.

I am having an odd day.

ahundredtimes · 16/02/2008 23:23

Oooh yes, I have found a Dyslexia Action sub-post nearer to you. That's good. It might be worth contacting them you know.

ahundredtimes · 16/02/2008 23:23

Good night. Am off to bed too.

MrsCarrot · 17/02/2008 08:47

sorry, morning veggers, that was a lengthy school moan, and Franny, I forgot to say how worrying that that must have been yesterday. glad its all ok.

Kiwi, grape, pear, apple, banana and passionfruit with granola and yoghurt

OverRated · 17/02/2008 08:49

Good morning

V bad F&V - 1/2 tomato and a banana yesterday.

MrsCarrot · 17/02/2008 08:51

OR - Franny has a grown-up accent

Why did you have an odd day yesterday?

OverRated · 17/02/2008 08:55

Grown-up?

My day was ok really, just me being silly. My friend and I had a big day out and made earrings at the bead store. Was lovely.

FrannyandZooey · 17/02/2008 08:57

gosh how nice to wake up and find everyone has been sorting everyone else out
I love this thread

MrsC so sorry to hear of this. Bee and 100's advice sounds very good but all very wearing and why SHOULDN'T you expect the school to sort it out for you? it's rotten

Have had a lie in the last 2 days as dp at home and I have not been working so have slept about 10 hours each night. Fantastic. I had lovely vivid dreams about having the baby and holding her (?) and naming her

I am going to see that film Juno today, 100. Shall report back.

MrsCarrot · 17/02/2008 08:58

I can't wear earrings anymore, they make my ears really sore. DD keeps asking to have hers done but I don't want her too. I had mine done fairly young, eight or so but I don't want her to for some reason. Mind you she is only six.

FrannyandZooey · 17/02/2008 08:59

oh LOL while I was posting everyone else has got up!

OR I don't know but everyone was very surprised by it and teased me about it

I am from a not very posh Sussex town and then have lived in Essex for nearly 20 years so I think I have a bit of a slack / Estuary accent or something. It was described as a twang

FrannyandZooey · 17/02/2008 09:00

6 is young, I had mine done about 8 and it was painful

is it because you think it looks

erm

common?

MrsCarrot · 17/02/2008 09:00

Thanks, Franny. I love the dreams we have when pregnant, mostly, they are so very surreal aren't they? And rude!

I want to see Juno too. I am having a burst of wanting to go to the cinema atm, probably as I haven't been able to go for so long.

MrsCarrot · 17/02/2008 09:01

Yes

MrsCarrot · 17/02/2008 09:02

well, partly

also I just don't like the idea of a gun shooting a hole through her ear

OverRated · 17/02/2008 09:03

Plenty of time for ear piercing if your dd is only six, MrsC.

I imagined you sounding all rural East Anglian, Franny

FrannyandZooey · 17/02/2008 09:03

I can't wear them any more either
the holes get squelchy and revolting

probably because I wear cheap ones and not proper gold or whatever

OverRated · 17/02/2008 09:04

My friend just took her 6 week old to Claire's Accessories to get her ears pierced

FrannyandZooey · 17/02/2008 09:04

don't have them done with a gun at some cheapo place by a 16 year old
my ear nearly collapsed from a crappy hair salon doing the top of my ear
I think the best ones use needles [quake]

OR I don't think so
although no-one would actually tell me

FrannyandZooey · 17/02/2008 09:05

oh erk cross posts
Clare's is a prime offender I think

MrsCarrot · 17/02/2008 09:06

ew at squelchy!

They are rank aren't they, when a layer of skin grows over the hole and you have to pop it with the back of the earring. Yuck. One of her friends has them done so she asks periodically.

I had to leap out of bed at 2am as the tooth fairy had forgotten to come. Disaster averted.

OverRated · 17/02/2008 09:06

I don't usually wear interesting earrings but now I have to. It was either jewellery making or painting expensive plates and I wasn't feeling imaginative enough to do painting.

MrsCarrot · 17/02/2008 09:07

There are regular threads about people witnessing babies being 'done' in Claires.

I had mine done on the back of the market!!

OverRated · 17/02/2008 09:09

glad the tooth fairy remembered
