For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

FrannyandZooey · 12/01/2008 16:58

on the other thread they just said do it

well I am not sure if they said that, but I did anyway

it is slightly more hassle than I expected but ds has enjoyed it terribly much

now here's hoping I don't burn it (have already had to move it down)

oh and MrsC what i meant was will it cool QUICK ENOUGH

Ds goes to bed about 6.30

now quick tell me all your favourite Indian takeaway things as we are having a feast

filthymindedvixen · 12/01/2008 17:05

avi - lol at the word breastfeeding doing it

I have mainly eaten lychees today after a very chilly but nice picnic at deer park. We played with my new poi (my friend made me pirate poi, with red and black and white ribbons and skull and crossbones on them!)
I cannot do poi But the kids had great fun running round with them. And then ds1 got all sad and introspective over a dead rabbit we found.

DH is still hyper over quitting his job but has been asked to set up a similar company with some contacts - in the midlands.

FrannyandZooey · 12/01/2008 17:08

ah you will get the hang FMF

I am a poi wannabe-er, but mostly hit myself in the face with them

100 next time please can I have meringue hotline number as I need someone to hold my hand when new recipe

I am still not sure what is going on, the nobbles are brown but it is only 35 mins? I am trying to tough it out and not whip them out too soon

filthymindedvixen · 12/01/2008 17:11

yes but I want to be good! My friend dances, like properly and gracefully, while doing poi. Mind you, maybe I need to leRNT O DANCE FIRST...

FrannyandZooey · 12/01/2008 17:12

FMF we need a course or something
I think it looks lovely too - over the summer we were at afestival and someone had glow in the dark poi - I got great photos of her

LaineyW · 12/01/2008 18:02

Sorry to jump into this obviously hugely popular thread, but I'm treating it as a sort of 'dip-in' one and spotted that some of you are Patrick Gale fans and just wanted to say that he's doing a reading of some extracts from Notes From An Exhibition at Heffers plus a Q&A session in Cambridge on Friday 15th Feb in the evening. It's free, you just have to ring Heffers and ask for a ticket and they'll post one out to you. Hurrah!

Also wondered if anyone else has secret fantasies about famous gay men? I've had more than one dream about Rufus Wainwright and I think Patrick Gale is absolutely gorgeous. Maybe it's the fact they're unattainable... and safe.

ahundredtimes · 12/01/2008 18:53

Wow. Lainey. Right. Hello.

Sit down a second.

have a lychee.

FrannyandZooey · 12/01/2008 19:03

ooh hello Lainey

yes I think P Gale is very beautiful but I don't actually fancy him. He is a little bit too pretty and perfectly cheekboned I think. I find his books sexy in a kind of light and gentle way sometimes though

I find films and stories about gay men can be quite erm warming though can't they? i always had a soft spot for my Beautiful Laundrette and esp Maurice (added fop appeal)

pinkspottywellies · 12/01/2008 19:13

Poi? [baffled]

I am sure they will question you about both poi and p gale at a Steiner school avi

are you into that? I have concerns about steiner. I don't think it would work for me.

FrannyandZooey · 12/01/2008 19:19

oh have eaten the Indian - poor ds, i gave him a tiny lick of lime pickle and he nearly expired

I don't like it spicy either

we had all sorts, sag aloo is my favourite. Then big pile meringue and berries and cream [bloat]

FrayedKnot · 12/01/2008 19:19

Evening everyone

How's the meringue?

Lainey, hello, I just generally have occasional secret fantasies about men..they do not necessarily need to be famous, or indeed gay

DS would enjoy kites I think...we had one with DSCs

I took DS swimming this morning, and have been flopping about the rest of the day being exhausted and ravenous. Why does swimming do that, even when you didn;t actually swim and must have burned about half a calorie?

So Avi, has your boss agreed to further extension of your leave? Sorry I have lost track a bit of what you've posted.

MrsC are you better now, properly?

I did everything wrong but your recipe was so intrinsically good that it all came out fine and dp was delighted

Avi I will be jealous if you find one that you rate. I can't get past the anthroposophy I don't think
