For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Evening

have been a single girl all day, feels quite odd

saw Enchanted with friend and found it very funny and quite charming

ds and dp are ok but hit a pheasant on their way up to ILs car is ok, pheasant not. ds quite cock a hoop about it for some reason - saying 'poor bird' but obviously quite thrilled at the drama of it all

Evening all

Franny what was the film about? I am so out of touch with that kind of thing. The last time I went to the cinema was when I was pregnant! Sorry about the pheasant I get quite affected when things like this happen

I watched a docu about J K Rowling this evening; I LOVE her (despite never having read any of her books )

TooTicky · 05/01/2008 22:39

Um...yes...meet up. Of course. Obviously, I was just waiting for everybody else's opinions... weekend presumably. Does it help anybody if it's in half term? When is half term anyway?

FK, organic strawberries. And they would have given us lots except that it was a very poor summer weatherwise and none were ripe
Amazing though, rowing on that lake, because it just keeps leading to more and more lakes. I remember dd1 and ds1 paddling naked there at 10pm one night

Franny, glad the boys are okay. This must be odd for you. Hope you get lots of rest.

Tatties · 05/01/2008 22:42

The set-up of the last meet would suit me fine (Sunday night brill)

FrannyandZooey · 05/01/2008 22:53

enchanted is a D**y film, trailer here

It is half straight cheesy Disney romantic fairy tale and half quite clever subversion of the whole princess meets handsome prince thing

the cartoon fairytale princess gets sent to New York by wicked queen and comes out of the drain in a big pooffy wedding dress during rush hour

it really charmed me and I found parts of it very funny eg she goes to man's apartment and decides to clean it up, leans out of the window and does that "ah ah-ah-ah ah ah ahhhhhh" singing that Snow White does, to call the bird and deer and things - a horde of rats, pigeons and cockroach things come in to tidy the apartment LOLOL
oh dear I did like it. I feel a bit embarrassed for liking it a lot. The prince's dappiness was very good as well. And the child playing the daughter was very nice and natural and not cute Disney child type at all

Tatties · 05/01/2008 22:55

LOL at first I thought you meant it was a DIRTY film

FrannyandZooey · 05/01/2008 22:58

LOL yes well it is a dirty secret to like anything Disney, isn't it?

OverRated · 06/01/2008 00:28

lol @ Franny watching dirty movies!

My Dad would have leapt out of the car and taken the pheasant home for dinner

SantaBabyBeenAnAwfulGoodGirl · 06/01/2008 00:33

franny i liked it a lot too

i went to aee it with dd1 and her boyfriend who dropped from football to see it and they ahd to cancel the whole session

i thought it was brilliant and laughed

BBBee · 06/01/2008 08:51

oh toot - have been looking at that website so much - it keeps calling my name. Was it truely wonderful?

I mentioned it to dp and he to order a catalogue (I thought he would tell me to go fish!)

SantaBabyBeenAnAwfulGoodGirl · 06/01/2008 11:28

i have had a nectarine and granola/oats and aslo a whole mango which is an experience a bit like drinking a bottle of perfumed washing up liquid so the immediate result was i felt rther sick hopefull;y it is however doing me good

FrannyandZooey · 06/01/2008 11:53

zippi I think that mango must have been off

I have a cold. Ds and dp are having a happy time up with SIL and cousin, which is cheering, but I have bowed out of going out with friends this afternoon as I know neither of them wants to catch another cold after being poorly over Christmas. So I am a little bit bored. Should really do stuff round the house, but have good excuse not to, so won't

just too much of a good thing mangoes i think

filthymindedvixen · 06/01/2008 13:24

Morning! Franny I fancied seeing enchantes as the trailers made me giggle but I was vetoed by my boys who declared it was girls film....

I probably won't be able to attend a meet-up at the mo, as we are on Skint Row.

Dh announced last night he hates his job and cannot bear to do it a day longer, and it has been soley responsible for his depressive fluxes last year. Which I whole-heratedly understand. But - wah! - WTF will we do? He claims to have one or two things in the pipeline.
I know change is inevitable in life but as I get older, I find it less exciting and more and more stressful.

I am eating watermelon and mentally battoning down my hatches

TooTicky · 06/01/2008 18:22

Fmv, what if it was one that could be done v. cheaply? That's the only sort I could manage atm.

FrannyandZooey · 06/01/2008 19:25

sorry to hear that FMF - change and uncertainty can be so unpleasant

ds and dp still having fun without me. I have been nursing cold lazily however have also washed all the items in my treasure baskets (about 800 things I think) and took down all the Chris decs

not much veg eaten, am having cauliflower cheese in a bit

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 06/01/2008 19:26

ps I think your boys may have been right FMF. It was rather silly and pink as films go

OP posts:
filthymindedvixen · 06/01/2008 19:27

Se,, i need to emrace my inner pinkness a little . But it is well hidden..

filthymindedvixen · 06/01/2008 19:27

How obscene does that sound!

FrayedKnot · 06/01/2008 19:46

Hello

I hope everyone has been out enjoying the sunshine (except Franny but you are excused)

We went to the beach and had brunch.

I can;t think of a better way to spend Sunday

Not much veg in the brunch I had, though...so hasty bean & lentil shepherds pie for supper from the freezer.

littlerach · 06/01/2008 19:54

DH downloaded Enchanted as a treat for dds and also his other 2 who were here just before christmas.
I ended up the only one who enjoyed it!
dds aren't too good at keeping stull and watching films, and dsd is 15 so too cool for it, and dss not interested either!

i htought the end was a little scarey though.

I ilike the curtains bit too.

We had some sun this morning. Went to visit my grandmother today. Wish her room wasn't so small and immensely hot, I always end up with a headache (combination of dehydration and child-behaviour-induced stress).

pinkspottywellies · 06/01/2008 20:43

7 portions of fruit and veg and half hour run (well 8 x 60seconds running with walking in between!) Yay!

I don't think I will be coming to the next meet up either I'm also too skint for even a cheap one!
