Anybody around I can talk to? DH just taken to hospital by a neighbour and I'm at home with the baby and panicking.

DH started with what we thought was a migraine last night, not uncommon for him. Today it's still there but he went to work anyway. From about 3pm he started to vomit (again not unusual when he has a migraine but he usually only vomits once).

He has been sick 11 times. A colleague drove him home, I phoned the on call doctor an hour ago who said he needed to go straight to hospital as he couldn't talk on the phone. He was lying on the floor groaning and crying by this point. He's clammy and says he's freezing cold.

Obviously our car is at his work 12 miles away so I knocked on every neighbours door until I found one in and they've taken him to hospital.

I'm at home as we have a 6 month old who's in bed and I didn't want to waste time waking her and packing stuff in a bag for her.

I'm terrified. DH is a calm, reasonable man usually but couldn't string a sentence together and was just clutching his head and rolling on the floor.

Somebody talk to me.

Do I phone the hospital in a minute and see what is happening?

oh i hope you get there - could you ask the taxi driver to drive past a cash point and nip out and withdraw some cash. I took ddwith me many times to the hospital as ds is remarkably accident prome, he's visited a&e more times than he's had birthdays.

Hassled · 12/11/2007 20:54

West Norwich doesn't have an A&E - it's where they have the out of hours emergency GP clinic for evenings or weekends. They would have sent him off from there to the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital. I'm in Norwich but on my own (DH away) with the kids asleep or would help with the baby - although I do happen to have cash if a taxi could detour. I'll sort out my CAT thing now so CAT me if you need to.

MarkStretch · 12/11/2007 20:54

Oh yeah email- mine is [email protected], I'll keep checking x

Marina · 12/11/2007 20:57

I was just thinking that did not sound like a hospital with an A & E. He will be at the main hospital now won't he.

snowleopard · 12/11/2007 20:57

Just want to add to the post about viral meningitis - DP has had it, it was very ike this (and he is also a migraine sufferer) and he's fine. Even if it's something more serious there's every chance he'll be fine.

Pinkjenny · 12/11/2007 20:57

SOH - are you OK, are you on the phone to the hospital? Why do I live in Liverpool!!

ScoobyDoo · 12/11/2007 20:57

MarkStretch what a fabulous person you are, i hope SOH sees this.

They said they can't tell me. Have sobbed down the phone and they've said they can only tell me he's arrived and being seen.

WTF?

I don't want to move from the phone, it could take ages to get out there, get a cab etc.

We don't have mobile phones.

Markstretch - how lovely are you! What a relief to know someone is nearby.

popsycal · 12/11/2007 21:01

SOH - now that you have rung, get your self down there

ScoobyDoo · 12/11/2007 21:01

What did you tell them you are his wife? how starnge.

What about if MarkStretch comes & helps you far better than struggling in a taxi on your own?

MarkStretch · 12/11/2007 21:01

SOH I live almost behind the West Norwich- is he there or at the N&N now? I have a car and mobile phone!

SOH - did they say they'd contact you when he has been seen? He's probably being assessed and they've got nothing to tell.

The main thing is that he's there and is being seen so promptly. There's nothing you could do even if you had gone with him straight away. He understands that you are at home with M.

MarkStretch · 12/11/2007 21:04

No worries, I'm here ready and waiting if you need me x

Olihan · 12/11/2007 21:04

SOH, if they won't tell you anyting over the phone then accept MarkStretch's lovely offer and let her take you.

You're only going to drive yourself demented sitting at home so email her, pack a bag and GO! (then come back here tomorrow and let us know you're both okay).

It's at times like this that MN really comes into it's own, so make use of it, please.

SaintGeorge · 12/11/2007 21:04

Try not to stress too much about the hospital not telling you anything. It is too soon after his arrival for them to have any answers yet.
