Anybody around I can talk to? DH just taken to hospital by a neighbour and I'm at home with the baby and panicking.

DH started with what we thought was a migraine last night, not uncommon for him. Today it's still there but he went to work anyway. From about 3pm he started to vomit (again not unusual when he has a migraine but he usually only vomits once).

He has been sick 11 times. A colleague drove him home, I phoned the on call doctor an hour ago who said he needed to go straight to hospital as he couldn't talk on the phone. He was lying on the floor groaning and crying by this point. He's clammy and says he's freezing cold.

Obviously our car is at his work 12 miles away so I knocked on every neighbours door until I found one in and they've taken him to hospital.

I'm at home as we have a 6 month old who's in bed and I didn't want to waste time waking her and packing stuff in a bag for her.

I'm terrified. DH is a calm, reasonable man usually but couldn't string a sentence together and was just clutching his head and rolling on the floor.

Somebody talk to me.

Do I phone the hospital in a minute and see what is happening?

TellusMater · 13/11/2007 17:28

Oh thank goodness.

Have been lurking with a vengeance...

What great news and what an amazingly brilliant post - am PMSL at you doing your best Kate Bush and ending up just a "prat in a field".

Hope you all get a good night's sleep tonight.

I got some migraines last year and was advised by doc and chirpracter to take magnesium. 500mg a day can really help with migraines and headaches. May be worth a try.

Fab news, SoH.
The pick and mix nibbling is definitely a good sign.

Glad to hear he is on the mend SOH. I have been following this thread since you started it, but didn't have much to offer last night by way of advice (except a googled list of telephone numbers). Anyway, glad it was "just" a migraine and hope you don't ever have to go through this again (SOH's dh: get thee to a doctor's surgery for medication!).

Oh and chuck is a pick and mix.

DumbledoresGirl · 13/11/2007 17:46

First of all can I say how well written your post was. Wish I could write like that!

Secondly I am shocked a migraine can be soooooo bad.

Wow!

Glad everything ok now.

Haribosmum · 13/11/2007 18:32

Phew! and YAY! Very glad to hear he is OK. I was worried for you (and about you). Hopefully he can get some meds sorted so you both don't have to go through this again.

What a shocking time you both had last night, am so pleased he's home.
My partner suffered terrible migraines and we endured many trips to hospital where he had lumar punctures and countless tests.
Evenually they prescribed him some tablets that they said were VERY expensive and not given out willy nilly and they are AMAZING.
They are called Maxalt Melt (rizatriptan)10mg and are in fact a melt that dissolves in your mouth. He takes one as soon as he has an inkling ones coming on and it never appears. He hasn't had a migraine for about 2 years now whereas they ruled his life before.
Maybe ask your doctor about them?
Hope all goes okay.
