Anybody around I can talk to? DH just taken to hospital by a neighbour and I'm at home with the baby and panicking.

DH started with what we thought was a migraine last night, not uncommon for him. Today it's still there but he went to work anyway. From about 3pm he started to vomit (again not unusual when he has a migraine but he usually only vomits once).

He has been sick 11 times. A colleague drove him home, I phoned the on call doctor an hour ago who said he needed to go straight to hospital as he couldn't talk on the phone. He was lying on the floor groaning and crying by this point. He's clammy and says he's freezing cold.

Obviously our car is at his work 12 miles away so I knocked on every neighbours door until I found one in and they've taken him to hospital.

I'm at home as we have a 6 month old who's in bed and I didn't want to waste time waking her and packing stuff in a bag for her.

I'm terrified. DH is a calm, reasonable man usually but couldn't string a sentence together and was just clutching his head and rolling on the floor.

Somebody talk to me.

Do I phone the hospital in a minute and see what is happening?

and a fantastic post!!

Now.....who mentioned pick and mix

JackieNo · 13/11/2007 20:10

So glad to hear he's OK and home (and I'm also in awe of someone who can write a post like that ). Fab news.

Mercy · 13/11/2007 20:15

Glad all is well(ish)

I may have missed it but was the diagnosis 'just' a migraine or something else? Will there be a follow up or prescribed medication?

(can you tell I also have migraines)

Squirdle · 13/11/2007 20:25

SOH, it's good to hear your DH is home and ok. And good to see you are in good spirits after what must have been an awful and scary night!!

Your DH has my sympathy. I suffer from migraines and often they cause sickness and not being able to move my head as they are so painful. I do find I have them more if I am a little dehydrated though, so that may be something for your DH to bear in mind.

Anyway, enjoy your evening (and the pick and mix)

SO glad he's home safely. such a scary time. Lets hope the GP can give him something to help should it happen again in the future.

Miaou · 13/11/2007 20:47

Brilliant news! I never expected to laugh out loud at your story of what happened - humour in a crisis and all that

Here's to a speedy recovery!!

rantinghousewife · 13/11/2007 20:55

Am so pleased for you that it wasn't too serious and your dh is home and better.
And you've narf made me chuckle with your epilogue.

so glad he is well and love the posts. very funny.

burstingbug · 13/11/2007 23:28

What a huge worry for you last night and this morning. I was following the thread awaiting news. So glad all is well and he is home and recovering.
I hope the Dr's can find the right meds to rid him of these awful migraines.

I used to suffer frequently but mildly from them, then they vanished whilst pregnant and for a while after the birth. I am just starting to suffer from the damn things again which make me sick .

slim22 · 14/11/2007 00:39

Great news!

MrsJohnCusack · 14/11/2007 08:47

oh SoH missed all of this as was away in the Arse End of Nowhere with no internet

am so glad he is OK now. brings back memories of when DH was carted into hospital with an asthma attack (we didn't even know he had asthma...) when DD was about 4 months old. it was HORRIBLE so many sympathies and glad MN could help

macdoodle · 14/11/2007 10:30

What a great thread with such a show of support from the MN community...bit tearful TBH though am sure that is pregnancy hormones...am glad your DH is on the mend - bad migraine can be utterly horrid am glad it wasn't something worse

babalon · 14/11/2007 13:45

fab news! glad all is well

Elibean · 14/11/2007 13:48

Hurrah! Not often one can be grateful for a migraine, IYSWIM, but thank goodness it was. I have some great medication (Maxalt) which really helps when I'm starting one these days, hope your DH gets something similar from GP.

And hope you both get a good night's kip to make up a bit of what you lost

castille · 14/11/2007 15:16

Fantastic news, so glad he's ok.
Great post too!

flamingtoaster · 14/11/2007 17:51

Thanks for the update - great to hear it was nothing nasty and that he is home recovering.
