Anybody around I can talk to? DH just taken to hospital by a neighbour and I'm at home with the baby and panicking.

DH started with what we thought was a migraine last night, not uncommon for him. Today it's still there but he went to work anyway. From about 3pm he started to vomit (again not unusual when he has a migraine but he usually only vomits once).

He has been sick 11 times. A colleague drove him home, I phoned the on call doctor an hour ago who said he needed to go straight to hospital as he couldn't talk on the phone. He was lying on the floor groaning and crying by this point. He's clammy and says he's freezing cold.

Obviously our car is at his work 12 miles away so I knocked on every neighbours door until I found one in and they've taken him to hospital.

I'm at home as we have a 6 month old who's in bed and I didn't want to waste time waking her and packing stuff in a bag for her.

I'm terrified. DH is a calm, reasonable man usually but couldn't string a sentence together and was just clutching his head and rolling on the floor.

Somebody talk to me.

Do I phone the hospital in a minute and see what is happening?

Where are you? Is there a Mnetter nearby who could help in some way? Do you have any friends locally who could babysit for a couple of hours?

CarGirl · 12/11/2007 20:46

go via cash point to pay cab driver

ShowOfHands · 12/11/2007 20:46

The neighbour isn't back. The hospital is 7 miles away. We don't even know the neighbour, he's an oldish man. The neighbours we do know have gone out.

I can't find the number, can somebody who's more with it than me google for it? Tried 118 but they're faffing.

It's West Norwich Community Hospital in Bowthorpe, not the main Norfolk and Norwich hospital. I can't see straight and google keeps giving me the main hospital number.

I think you probably need to phone the hospital first and make a judgment about whether to go in or not. If you think you should go in, as Olihan says, settle M in her car seat and phone a taxi. Quite a lot of taxi firms will take a credit card or a cheque.

Will be thinking of you and J and M

popsycal · 12/11/2007 20:47

get nappy bag ready
ring taxi firm
ring family an hour away
take mobile

take baby to hospital with you and ask family to meet you there even if just for company if baby is breastfed

xx

God you poor love. This is when living in the depths of the countryside has its logistical drawbacks.
OK, so no cash. Round where you are, do cab firms take payment from credit/debit cards? How far is the hospital? Are any Mners near you that you know of, SoH?
Perhaps the neighbour will think to see your dh clerked in and then come back for you?
I have to go and put ds to bed, but thinking of you both, what a worry. Will check in later.

XAliceInWonderlandX · 12/11/2007 20:48

get yourself a big cup of tea

and look an hour ahead only that

have you spoken to his parents

Kbear · 12/11/2007 20:49

SoH - you must be worried sick. Call a cab to take you and the baby to hospital. Explain to the cab firm it's an emergency, you haven't got any money but they know where you live as they will collect you and you will pay tomorrow. I'm sure they will understand.

Hope DH is okay and keep calm. He'll be looked after now.

mazmack · 12/11/2007 20:49

I would advise the same thing..talk to the hospital , then if you need to, go and take the baby with you, babies are resilient..if she has to stay awake for a while she will make up the sleep easily later!

popsycal · 12/11/2007 20:49

i would ring hospital first
