For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Morning suh!

My packed lunch today is grapes, satsuma, apple and a bowl of carrot and corriander soup (do I get extra brownie points for home grown carrots and corriander??)

Am also slurping back huge quantities of homemade elderberry tincture as I am fighting a cold.

FrannyandZooey · 18/10/2007 09:20

There are no brownie points, there is only

THE PIT

for those who displease me

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 18/10/2007 09:21

I have had apple, 2 pears, kiwi, satsuma, grapes

I just couldn't do the peaches one, I was PMSL

OP posts:
fullmoonfiend · 18/10/2007 09:28

yes most of them do involve vodka don't they...

Mine is child-friendly. just shedloads of elderberries (obv washed well and make sure there are no green ones as they are Not Good.) simmered with a scant amount of water, a squeeze of lemon, a tiny grate of fresh ginger and some sugar (to personal taste. Mine is fairly sweet as I want the kids to take it. Then I have squished and squeezed them with well-washed fingers before straining through a clean stocking (in the absence of muslin, lol) and decanting into heat-sterilised glass bottle in the fridge. The other bottles I ahve wrapped with brown paper and are stored in garage. And then I ate the puree - it tasted very blackberryish

Habbibu · 18/10/2007 10:04

Oh for heaven's sake. Wrong blardy thread. Right, once again (weary drum roll - ta dahh!.

There.

Habbibu · 18/10/2007 10:06

And - 1 kiwi, 2 satsumas, peach and strawberry pancakes and so much fruit from the cake that it must be at least another portion. Lunch is left over veg soup from yesterday.

GibbonInABloodSoakedRibbon · 18/10/2007 10:09

Thanks for pointing me to right thread Habbibu

Habbibu · 18/10/2007 10:23

humph. Right. I'm off to toddlers. If there are not several comments about my culinary genius when I get back then I shall down tools, flounce off in high dudgeon and will probably be found eating a turkey twizzler somewhere. Do you want that on your conscience?

Funny how quick new girl meekness wears off, isn't it?

SauerKraut · 18/10/2007 10:46

Reporting for duty sir! Veg soup and salad for lunch followed by mucho fruito, probably grapes. Veggy lentilly casserole for tea. No pit for me sir.

SauerKraut · 18/10/2007 10:50

Avi- spaghetti squash. Boil it whole in a huge pan of water, cut in half and watch dcs oooh and aaah at the sight of spaghetti inside a flipping vegetable! Dig insides out with a spooon, stir in some butter or olive oil and eat as a side dish- yum!

fullmoonfiend · 18/10/2007 10:52

Oh my word. Habbibi - I think you may have found your Mother Ship, that is certainly a cake in the total spirit of 10/10

Hope WeeBibi likes it and has a lovely birthday.

(my ds whose birthday is on sunday is getting sugar fest in the shape of large bone-shaped cake with puppydog icing...)

But I am working later so no dinner until late, possibly nothing in that case. Sob.

May be tomorrwo.....

Habbibu · 18/10/2007 11:59

Thank you - it is now demolished, and I get extra brownie points for giving several small children at least 2 of their daily portions!

Off to eat soup - still to work out what to have for dinner.

FrannyandZooey · 18/10/2007 12:19

Habbibu it looks glorious. If there were brownie points you could have some.

Good to see SOME of you are on the right thread and actually reading what is going on

Lully you can come and stand here next to me and inspect the new recruits

Littlerach I smell insubordination already. Pull your socks up gel and eat vegetables or sling your hook (not a bad start, really )

SK no pit indeed. You can be let off washing up duty tonight

FMF I wasn't thinking about ds with the vodka LOL, it was me I was worried about. Does it keep, then? Have you done this before? It sounds great.

Gibbon WAKE UP AT THE BACK THERE and stop slouching
