For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page.

Yes I would do NHS direct Boco, then they will tell you whether or not to do out of hours doctor. I don't like rashes, I would almost always phone about a rash.

TooT believe me, if I could stay, I would... Ds is singing "I really like going to Grandma's, I wish I lived with her"

have fun

behave yourselves (especially as I am absolutely hoping to be checking up on you)

miss me lots

and

be kind to newbies

Avi, we're hoping to go to Kew Gardens at some point - not sure if this will be Sunday afternoon or, if we can stay Sat night with my uncle, on Saturday. Kew is lovely, not least because it has a giant badger sett.

We last went to Kew 3 years ago when the badger sett and treetop walk were fairly new. I gather they have extended both since then.

You can get there by tube, so it's not hard. Although easier with my uncle who knows exactly how to get there from the station.

Sorry to anyone who missed my brief appearance. If you look on my link, I'm on the campfire festy pic - it's up to you to see if you can guess which person I am

I made bloody cinder toffee last night and have broken a tooth [anger]

Off to make a chocolate and beetroot cake. Bit scared. Can someone reassure me it will be delish?

TooTicky · 14/10/2007 11:37

Oh poo Do you want to give me your email Lionheart and I will have a go? (If I can find Franny's handy link, that is)

Could somebody post a recipe for the chocolate and beetroot cake please?

The lavender chocolate is very odd and slightly overpowering. Crying chocolate is nicer.

Boco! at Scarlet Fever (how terribly Victorian!)
My friend's dd has just had it and was rather miserable.

fullmoonfiend · 14/10/2007 11:55

I am trying this recipe - I hope it works - it has taken me about 2 hours to boil the beetroot to a puree-able level.

1 and a half ozs Cocoa powder
4 and a half ozs Plain flour
1and a half tsps Baking powder
1 Pinch salt
5and a half ozs Caster sugar
8 and a half fl ozs Corn oil
1and a half tsps Vanilla essence
3 eggs beaten
1 pack or (9oz) cooked beetroot, pureed
4oz Plain dark choc (60% +), broken into small pieces
Method
Preheat the oven to 375F/190C/Gas 5 and grease an (7") round cake tin.
Sift the cocoa, flour, baking powder and salt into a bowl and mix with the sugar.
Add the oil, vanilla essence, eggs, beetroot and chocolate pieces and mix well.
Pour into the cake tin, put on a baking tray and bake for 50 minutes, or until a skewer comes out clean.

fullmoonfiend · 14/10/2007 11:56

LL could you post your recdipe for future reference please?

TooTicky · 14/10/2007 12:32

BBBee · 14/10/2007 18:06

fuck boco - that sonds awful.

you know frany it sometimes seems your mum does these things to spite you - ham up sleeve and coincidence sword would piss me off big time.

TooTicky · 14/10/2007 18:20

Franny, can you claim to have forgotten that you actually need to be 300 miles away tomorrow morning?

Thanks for the recipe LL. That sounds like a special occasion cake - most of my baking is plain'n'simple.
Bugger. Just remembered I have no oven.

BBBee · 14/10/2007 18:21
