For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page.

Hello I'm back!

I'm currently drinking a smoothie I made with apple juice and kiwi and a banana I froze a couple of weeks back - bbrrrr but it is chilly, and so are my fingers after chopping it

I plan to eat an orange later

I am CROSS. I have got an apple cake in the oven (major effort and organisation) and ds has just thrown up, dd1 is off to ballet before it's quite ready and a friend of dd3's mum has come along and swept her off before I could protest! Gah. I might just have to scoff the lot with dd2.

Boco · 16/10/2007 15:04

I'm having to start down here as there is a big grey square on the page i can't get rid of.

Gibbon i like it. But i'm not sure you're allowed weapons on this thread, especially daggers. [hedge emoticon]

lionheart · 16/10/2007 16:08

I have some kick-ass combat boots but they are stored in the garage (deep loofah territory) so cannot be retrieved.

Habbibu · 16/10/2007 16:21

Hello. Can I join in? I used to be quite good about all this, but have become a bit more rubbish, and am hoping assistance is the point of this thread (or I will shuffle off again...).

Possum - just to say I think it's bloody amazing that you're doing your PhD with a baby - I had no other responsibilities At All, and found it tough going. What stage are you at?

And a question - if you make your own smoothie, and don't sieve anything out of it, does it still only count as 1 portion?

Cheers

Hmm - what does that mean if you chew really well though? And is it also the same for (say) a blended vegetable soup?
