For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page.

and porridge,

can someone p[lease initiate me into the secret of making good, creamy porridge that doesn't look like something my builder would use to mend the garden wall?
Lulabyloo, what is your recipe for vanilla porridge? Can you PLEASE publish a cookery book of your yummy food, that is an urgent necessity

TooTicky · 16/10/2007 11:13

Possum, there are some nice recipes on here. They are vegan, but that can only be a good thing
The Viva uk website has some lovely books.

Boco · 16/10/2007 11:14

Toot i feel the anti climax too - why can't you go?

PossumIsMunchingPumpkins · 16/10/2007 11:16

Toot, I'm about 150 miles from you. thank you for the sympathy anyway

I'm sorry that bath thing didn't work out, 100x's facilities sound very sumptous and lovely, i do have hot water but even I am tempted to queue with my towel and a bar of soap outside her house. Soon there'll be a horde of 10-10ers jostling to run their bare toes over her intriguing bumpy rubber flooring.

TooTicky · 16/10/2007 11:17

Right, porridge:
Equal quantities of oats, soya milk (I use the blue Alpro one with apple juice and calcium) and water. Heat until it starts to bubble slightly, stir just about constantly, turn down heat gradually.
We like it with honey/raisins/chopped apple. I like seeds too.

She's not receiving my emails Boco.

OP posts:
Boco · 16/10/2007 11:24

You could email me and i'll forward them?

Skyler · 16/10/2007 11:29

Boco - I saw you went to TMHS on the school thread. I think we were there the same time. I left in 1994....

ahundredtimes · 16/10/2007 11:30

Boco STOP IT.

She doesn't have to come. They do not care about your personal hygiene TooT (as I do ) they only care about your report on my pink floor, general personal appearance, domestic habits and clinking gin bottles in the bathroom cabinet.

PossumIsMunchingPumpkins · 16/10/2007 11:34

100x, you have gin in the bathroom cabinet?

Franny, could I have your butter bean & veg soup and veg korma with coconut and chickpeas recipes?

PossumIsMunchingPumpkins · 16/10/2007 11:36

oh, and for a freezer novice, a dumb question but what does one freeze all the soups and stews and things in? Tupperware type containers?
I am limbering up for a veg fest.

Boco · 16/10/2007 11:54

Skyler! I looked at your profile hoping for pictures - i'm older than you, i started university in 94 and had taken a year out. I wonder if we knew each other? Are you in Suffolk?

I'm a bit scared in case you want to eat my brain as i'm picturing you as skyler. I don't have any powers you'd want. But you can email me spondie at hotmail dot com.

And toot, i'm available for forwarding, but only because i care about your personal hygiene.

ahundredtimes · 16/10/2007 11:56

You could put them in large freezer bags too Possum.

TooT I am putting away the warmed bath towels I think you got frightened by all Boco's talk about nipples on the bathroom floor. This is quite understandable, I would have too.

Right. Am off to the butchers and then later I am going to try and make an apple pie. I shall put his name on the top. God, I hope it works.

GColdtimer · 16/10/2007 11:56

Boco -

I remember you asked somewhere about starting a website. Use this www.squarespace.com/ its needs no technical ability whatsoever and is fairly cheap, I have used it for a couple of clients.

FrannyandZooey · 16/10/2007 11:58

Old ice cream tubs erm any plastic containers with lids that you might have. The large size yogurt pots are good, Possum

Am also sorry about bath. Am taking ds out for lunch as we are both gloomy.

Possum please say if there is ANYTHING we can do to help. Are you near any of us?

Boco · 16/10/2007 11:59

Oh thank you twofalls! That's really helpful - will go and look.

FrannyandZooey · 16/10/2007 11:59

100 I think TooT wants to come but can't because you aren't getting her emails. Or maybe I read it wrong?

will go and stop interfering now anyway

Oh Possum, you cannot be expected to function on so little sleep. How come the maternity rule is so rigid?

TooT--if you do go, be sure to smuggle a camera under the towel.

I do not smoke (anymore).

I do need boot camp though.

TooTicky · 16/10/2007 13:36

Au contraire 100x, I was particularly looking forward to walking on your pink rubbery nipples.

OP posts:
TooTicky · 16/10/2007 13:37

I do apologise! That was most unlike me
The mucky minded individuals on this thread have a lot to answer for.

OP posts:
fullmoonfiend · 16/10/2007 13:54

I love you all but am at work so can't post. how come this thread rocks when I am not on it...

PS my children ate the chocolate and beetroot cake mmmmwwwahhahwhahwhahhhhaaa!!

And the neighbourhood kids ate it too. Though little girl burst into tears when I fessed up about the 8 beetroot contained within!

And I have made my own elderberry tincture for the season of colds and misery...

Boco - what about Bocoreepy?

100x I heart your pink rubber floor. And normally I am allergic to pink.

Franny, I know I have paid for the room but the train fare will be around £80...
I am still wrestling with my conscience (sorry kids, santa went to london and had a lovely lunch but ran out of pixie-dust to fill your stockings with...)

Am now awaiting wrath of F&Z for lying to my children about strange fat man creeping into bedrooms on xmas eve

TooTicky · 16/10/2007 14:01

fmf, listen. Go to the Trainline website and put in all your journey details, check times, then fares. Then click on the bit where it says 2 singles may be cheaper than a return and it gives you a choice of different fares. The cheapest ones are the first minutes fares which get snapped up quite quickjly so I gather and I don't know when they start, but try it...
OR, buy a family railcard and bring a child or two. It will save you money.
Really hoping you can come!

Boco · 16/10/2007 14:41

Toots! You're calling me a mucky minded individual who has in some way corrupted you into wanting to walk on 100s rubber nipples aren't you! Cheeky.

I like Bocoreepy. But can i just say, i am not creepy or mucky minded. I'm pure of heart and mind.

I just took dd out for lunch out of sheer desperation to see actual people. We had fun. She took a small plastic reindeer and talked to it, and i talked to anyone who would listen.
