For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page.

PSW you should practice standing on one leg, I think, and do squats against the wall with a fit ball. The latter has done wonders for my dodgy knee and I could never do lunges instead

FrannyandZombie · 07/10/2007 20:52

sorry, I mean either not instead

FrannyandZombie · 07/10/2007 20:53

oh and some new people came in, so we had to be welcoming didn't we?

BBBee · 07/10/2007 20:56

Oh please don't make me choose between Franny and Morrissey, I couldn't do it

We went for a lovely nigh walk, it smelt all bonfirey outside. I know I've said it before but I do love this time of year. Then we came in and had soup. Now ds is in bed and I feel knackered. My arms still feel shakey, I think I may have a bath.

lionheart · 07/10/2007 21:26

lol at the lion.

StephenMorrissey · 07/10/2007 21:27

Well don't make me choose between Tatties and Franny

BBBee · 07/10/2007 21:35

right exercise.

what exercise do you lot do?

I have gaily ignored the exercise bit because I walk but it really doesn;t cut the mustard.

Exercise.

come on...

lionheart · 07/10/2007 21:36

(S'okay, Tatties, Franny has broke it).

Lolcats · 07/10/2007 21:37

Yet another GENIUS thread title....

lionheart · 07/10/2007 21:39

Is that you Franny, or really StephenPatrickMorrissey?

FrannyandZomble · 07/10/2007 21:39

Bee, I go to the gym

oooh, OFTEN. Sometimes every WEEK

I am going this week actually and I am going to be weighed and measured and that. Am hoping it will spur me on to, erm, something

FrannyandZomble · 07/10/2007 21:40

It was really Morrissey. I could smell his gladioli, couldn't you?

FrannyandZomble · 07/10/2007 21:40

Hello Lolcats, do you want to stay and eat fruit?

pinkspottywellies · 07/10/2007 21:40

BBB - Yoga. I like Barbara Currie DVD's. It's quite gentle but can be quite a good work out.

FrannyandZomble · 07/10/2007 21:41

Bee, in the summer I sometimes used to go for a bike ride in the evening. Don't fancy it in the dark. I also lug ds about in the bike trailer about once a week.

lionheart · 07/10/2007 21:42

I have got a Darcy Bussell dvd (unopened, as yet).

FrannyandZomble · 07/10/2007 21:43

I don't know if the goodness can get to you through the shrink wrap, lionheart

pinkspottywellies · 07/10/2007 21:43

There's a fitness company here where they use village halls/recreation grounds/school halls etc to do fitness classes- lots of villages round here but no gyms. They do boxercise, yoga/pilates fitness, the pram class that I go to and all sorts. It's great and not all scary like the gym with machines and weights and fit people!
