For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page.

pointy I'm constantyly insulting people it seems...hopefully slight;y less here than on the rest of mn..so I'm sure you won't be as bad as me

zippitippitoes · 07/10/2007 18:19

rather worse i keep making people worried unintentionally, but then i disappear for a bit and hope they have forgotten

Boco · 07/10/2007 18:19

Idris is it a pea phobia?

Pointy you must have a slight phobia? Or maybe just an extreme dislike?

pointydog · 07/10/2007 18:19

lol - your insult was staggering in its mildness, zippi.

lionheart · 07/10/2007 18:22

Hello, love the title.

Tatties, I'm sure it's Mozzer you love, or so I've heard tell.

IdrisTheDragon · 07/10/2007 18:22

Maybe it is a phobia. Hooray - I have a phobia .

(this is not meant to be insulting to anyone with a real phobia).

policywonk · 07/10/2007 18:22

I love that song. It's all shimmery and woozy.

But you're not getting me to eat all that crunchy stuff, oh no.

zippitippitoes · 07/10/2007 18:23

what song have i failed to notice a song again

policywonk · 07/10/2007 18:26

(Please, Please, Please Let Me Get What I Want by The Smiths. They're northern, you know. )

IdrisTheDragon · 07/10/2007 18:31

Have a banana. Definitely not crunchy .

FrannytheDruid · 07/10/2007 18:44

Oh wonky is here too

I always get pointy and wonky mixed up for some unknown reason, so it would be good if you could both come on here and I could learn who is who

Tatties does love me, she said so. Don't spoil it for me.

I don't like peas, not much.

But if it were a choice, Franny or Morrissey, which way would she leap?

hollyhobbie · 07/10/2007 18:49

Sorry! The normally saintly DS just won't sleep tonight!
I was thinking about what food I eat as I was rocking DS and I probably don't eat as much F&V as I think I do...
So-
Breakfast is porridge with raisins, or cornflakes with banana and raisins or toast (not with raisins!)
Lunch is quite often leftovers which I share with DD, something like macaroni cheese roast veg and cous cous or egg fried rice or omelette (too many eggs in our diet). If i have enough time I'll add frozen peas, corn or broc to up our veg intake, but if I don't have time then the starch stays but the veg goes.
Tea is macaroni cheese, roast veg and cous cous, baked pots etc... tonight, for eg it's quorn spag bolognese.
If DH is cooking there's pretty much always a salad.

Ok, I'm standing by for hints and tips!

zippitippitoes · 07/10/2007 18:51

ok this may make you girls laugh

but on the other hand it may not

I just had this message sent me

hello babe do you have msn babe send a picture to my phone babe xx

nothing to with vegetables or fruit I'm afraid but i had just sent one to him saying

I go to the gym to but it hasn't had the same effect on me as it has on you lol

ThisIsTattiesNotFrannyAtAll · 07/10/2007 18:53

oh I like Franny the best

oh yes

Morrissey is all well and good but Franny makes me weak at the knees

fullmoonfiend · 07/10/2007 18:55

just dashing in to express my love for this song and thread title. And of course, you lot

fullmoonfiend · 07/10/2007 18:56

(oh and for any newer 10/10'ers - it's me, FMV. This is why franny calls me FMF, It is part of my gemini split personality thingy. Today I am mostly being FMF, see?)

ThisIsTattiesNotFrannyAtAll · 07/10/2007 18:58

Holly you should have some fresh fruit with your porridge, banana is nice, or chopped apple or pear or whatever. You could have a glass of juice as well, which with your raisins would make 3

then do you have any snacks at all? You could have one piece of fruit mid morning and one mid afternoon, or fruit instead of pudding after a meal - that's 5 so far in total

make sure you have your frozen veg at lunchtime (it takes NO time) - 1 or 2 portions

then 3 portions more veg with dinner (have some beans or lentils as one portion, you could have lentil bolognese instead of quorn, baked beans with your potato, add beans to couscous or rice or omelette or pasta), makes 10. Easy.

which er, must be why I have had about 3 today...

I am NOT WELL

ThisIsTattiesNotFrannyAtAll · 07/10/2007 18:58

Hooray, I love you being FMF! It's such a nice name

ThisIsTattiesNotFrannyAtAll · 07/10/2007 18:59

shall I change my name back before Tatties catches me?

zippitippitoes · 07/10/2007 19:00

so are you franny then

ThisIsTattiesNotFrannyAtAll · 07/10/2007 19:04

no NOT AT ALL, see the bit where it says "Not Franny At All"?

zippitippitoes · 07/10/2007 19:09

that's ok then i can carry on as i was

BBBee · 07/10/2007 19:15

hello

I went on a fungi walk - was great - saw ink caps doing the inky thing and ran around in woods. I have baked apples and stuffed marrows - maybe not a ten but a good effort type seven.

no milk in tea ever! you hear!
um, what else - nice to see new people, new blood makes us behave and not get side tracked by jaffa cakes and scrabble.

I have to be up really early to get a train. My neck is feeling a bit better. Police siad that sometimes the other driver comes forward at a later date as they feel so bad. Won;t count on it though.

Love to all.

IdrisTheDragon · 07/10/2007 19:16

I am still me. I think.
