For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page.

perhaps i could rent a handsome, witty, intelligent likeable 10/10 type scrabble playing husband for the day???????

ahundredtimes · 12/10/2007 19:26

Now this has passed me by - are your dh/dp's going to the meet-up too?

TooT - where did the friend come from? Can she unicycle?

Hola all. How are things? Have been busy and stupid and busy again. DS2s birthday on Sunday, have done nothing.

What shall I buy him? He's going to be 8. He wants all ds1's presents.

fullmoonfiend · 12/10/2007 19:33

100 times, it is my ds's birthday next sunday. He is going to be 7. Er, more Lego?
Scooter?
Remote control flying LED UFO? (Nah, it's crap actually)

fullmoonfiend · 12/10/2007 19:35

100x, some dps/dhs are going. Mine is not.

Lull - Dh's romantic streak sadly falls short of anything thoughtful or romantic like this. He does buy me crying chocolate sometimes. Well, he buys it for me. I seldom actually get any of it though.....

ahundredtimes · 12/10/2007 19:39

No, he doesn't do lego, his fingers don't work well enough for it.

I told dh to find him a good toy theatre in London last week, but he came back empty handed. I thought that would be a great present for him, like a proper one with scene sets and things. AND I've been rubbish because I haven't looked further afield. I will do it for Christmas.

I don't know what he wants. I asked and he said 'I'd like to be Mayor for the day' and then he giggled and fell off his chair, and I heart him so much I wish I could think of a decent present.

Then I thought, you know how in The Railway Children when its their birthday they are king or queen for the day and have a throne? I might do that. I might make him a chain, and do the kitchen up as a Council Room. {grin]

Lullabyloo · 12/10/2007 19:41

we went to see Ratatouille this afternoon.....it was quite amusing

fullmoonfiend · 12/10/2007 19:42

oh 100, he sounds delightful And so does your idea!

TooTicky · 12/10/2007 19:47

100x, my mum made ds1 the most amazing crown and kingly cloak. He might well be happy to lend them... as long as your ds wouldn't be too heartbroken giving it back. They are truly grand.
Presents are a nightmare, aren't they? I always find I don't really discover what each child would love to have until just after b'day/christmas. Perhaps the chaos stops me thinking.
Ds2 is having his party as his present as it is such a big thing, but he will get a couple of tiny things (this is why I am crocheting a dalek). And anyway, his friends will give him plenty of stuff.

ahundredtimes · 12/10/2007 19:48

I'm going to do it. AND I'm going to get a ribbon to put across the door for him to cut with scissors in the morning.

I've quite cheered myself up.

Right, Mayor chain, council offices, ribbon, scissors.

Presents . . . .

ahundredtimes · 12/10/2007 19:50

Well done TooT.

Let's discuss the friend. Is she good enough? I know we can't be chosey but I feel quite strongly about it now. Good calibre friend or not?

ahundredtimes · 12/10/2007 19:51

Oh and thank you for offer TooT- but he wants to be mayor, so we're going to have chain and bad shoes and council offices. But thank you, it was very kind and generous thought.

TooTicky · 12/10/2007 19:53

My ds1 used to be into mayors and kings and things (after his fireman and policeman phases).
He once put "meet Bill Oddie" on his Christmas list.

Ds2 wants to see Ratatouille but cinemas are so expensive with this many dcs.

TooTicky · 12/10/2007 19:58

Friend seems lovely. Dd1 knows her from Guides (although dd1 doesn't go any more because of nasty girl) and she came and sought her out. They have been cycling together. Today she gave her a bike Apparently they were going to throw it out but it is many times newer and shinier than dd1's current one.
"Mum, it's so responsive! I don't have to squeeze the brakes and they don't squeak or anything."

All is

lionheart · 12/10/2007 20:10

this is fab.

Although you could proabably improvise your own.

pinkspottywellies · 12/10/2007 20:19

Boco, I just read about the birthday table. How ghastly

I can't wait til my dd is old enough to do things like "he said 'I'd like to be Mayor for the day' and then he giggled and fell off his chair". I love things like that!

I've just been picking apples but the tree is too big and we have no ladder so I was standing on a dining room chair, pulling branches with a hoe and the biggest apple we've ever had fell and hit me on the head. It hurts.

Eating mango and figs and have done gardening today - energetic gardening involving a saw.

ahundredtimes · 12/10/2007 20:20

She came and sought her out? Oh good, she is very, very high calibre friend. I hope dd1 will still want to talk to me now she's got a new friend with a bike and everything.

Oooh lionheart, that is good, but makes me nervous. Also ds2 is more of your musical theatre type than an outdoor campfire type. Doesn't do lego, any sport. God it's quite hard actually.

TooTicky · 12/10/2007 20:20

I want a fire bowl. And the pan bit.

100x, dd1 has a message for you. Having heard that you would like to be her friend, after seeing the photo, she says you shouldn't judge a book by its cover and that she's a wicked witch inside. Make of that what you will
Contrary beast

TooTicky · 12/10/2007 20:24

Any chance of a new thread? This one is SO SLOW and keeps having unresponsive scripts. Whatever they are.

ahundredtimes · 12/10/2007 20:26

TooT - tell her I know she is and that is exactly why I want to be her friend. Also tell her I am extremely discerning in my friends and I don't undertake these things lightly.

FrannyandZooey · 12/10/2007 20:42

OMG

the

fire

bowl

tell me about the fire bowl, I don;t understand it. How does the fire come? Do you have to buy that pan bit as well? What does it do? Ds has been talking about NOTHING but making fires for about 3 weeks since he realised bonfire night was coming and he keeps going ON and ON and ON and ON and ON about having a fire in the back garden. And I keep saying, no, we can't. He has gathered sticks and leaves and conkers and things for it. Please explain the fire bowl forthwith and pronto.

FrannyandZooey · 12/10/2007 20:43

oh and

you wanta new thread

you makea new title

Tatties · 12/10/2007 20:56

Oi Franny I thought you had a crush on me

That fire bowl looks good; I remember having a brief fire obsession as a child. Do all children go through that?

FrannyandZooey · 12/10/2007 20:58

what do you put in the fire bowl? Can you give one to a 4 year old do you reckon? Oh god, we are going to HAVE to get one. He will be beside himself with excitement.

FrannyandZooey · 12/10/2007 20:59

Tatties I am fickle and unreliable

I thought you all knew that by now
