For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

hello!

not caught up with thread - went out for friend's bday last night - hope you had good birthdays.

carrot how are the boobs? and what did you buy that was a topple apple?

thread mystifies me at the moment - I think I am not paying attention.

aCarrot · 29/09/2007 15:33

Ha, all your dc's will want to sit next to me at the meet-up. I will have to bring a carrot bag with treats in, or even just a bag of carrots. That will flummox them.

BBBeee - I am feeling a lot better today. Very tired still but definitely almost well. My kidneys hurt a bit, I wonder if it's from dealing with infected milk?

FrannyandZooey · 29/09/2007 15:34

Oh god, kidneys

I think processing anything wrong with your body can make your kidneys a bit dodgy can't it? Would the lemon juice thing help, or just give them too much to deal with?

OP posts:
BBBee · 29/09/2007 15:39

yes it could be - kidneys are a big filter aren't they (hey - a-level biology kicks arse!) so it has been sieving out all the nasty stuff and now they are tired.

The lemon thing is really good. Drink lots of water - um - lots of love from me!

aCarrot · 29/09/2007 15:42

Lemon is probably good. I think clearing that up must have been quite a tax on my resources, I felt low anyway. I am armed with floradix, vit C, cider vinegar, herbs and homeopathy. I will be rattling.

Does anyone manage to go to the library without paying fines or having left three behind or have renewed the max amount as one is down the sofa? I think we're cursed when it comes to library books. I've always got my head under DD's bed shouting - where is the bloody Worst Witch tape? Or, ds1 if you don't find World's Worst Goalies, NO POCKET MONEY, and so on... is it just us??

FrannyandZooey · 29/09/2007 15:43

oh god I have Home Ed ticket so no fines and 3 month loans etc

however they have just changed the rules and you can only borrow "educational" DVDs on there, so they have given me another ticket for my own personal use

I am doomed

Thank you for your love, Bee...

aCarrot · 29/09/2007 15:46

No fines??? I am slowly paying off £27 after DH left Flightplan in the car for weeks, could have bought it for less than that and it was crap.

TooTicky · 29/09/2007 15:51

MrsC, we are constantly in library turmoil, especially as we use 2 different libraries and one is ruled by machines and objects if you return books that are from somewhere else. We have recently had to buy a DVD which then turned up a couple of weeks later under Extremely Suspicious circumstances

TooTicky · 29/09/2007 15:52

Oh, and both my boys adore carrots

aCarrot · 29/09/2007 16:07

you can get your money bback though if you have the receipt? I'm always having to buy them and then they turn up

TooTicky · 29/09/2007 16:30

I'm a bit afraid that if I did that, they might want to charge me for the extra hire. I mean, otherwise, people could pretend to lose them, pay for them, watch them for a few weeks, then get a refund. Or is my mind too devious? Not that I'd actually do this as I am a) a decent person, b) a coward, and c) prone to a guilty look.

aCarrot · 29/09/2007 16:35

oh yes, actually it's always been books that I've paid for I hadn't thought of that aspect.

Mind you I sometimes do that with Amazon , if my monthly quota is about to run our I say I sent it a few days ago, get my new one and then send it.

TooTicky · 29/09/2007 17:18

It's story tapes we've had most problems with. Some of them are very expensive!

I neeed a boot camp I think - have slid loads - am almost back to pre 10/10 days.

I will order fruit box today and back to one double espresso a day. And I will do yoga stretching.

My course starts on monday and I was going to give myself a mumsnet ban but it does keep me (relatively) sane so will just have to cut back.

I neeed more fruit and vegetables.

Carrot - the supplements sound good - esp. the floradix. Make sure you are resting too
