For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

SK, my email is [email protected]

TooTicky · 28/09/2007 13:59

That's fab about your ds!

SauerKraut · 28/09/2007 14:06

Thank ye kindly.
Actually it was a jolly good day- he was born in Paris where they are big on epidurals in a control-freaky manner, so I had one, Dh brought in my pressies and I just lay back and opened them while watching my contractions and not feeling a thing until the last and biggest pressie arrived at 6 o'clock!
Now, of course, I have to work hard on "my" birthday!

IdrisTheDragon · 28/09/2007 14:09

I am trying to pretend I am not using the computer whilst I am.

I am assisting a class who are doing an accountancy case study. There is no fruit in here.

filthymindedvixen · 28/09/2007 14:09

do you know, I think I'm a bit bored with MN at the moment. This thread is th only one I read these days....

IdrisTheDragon · 28/09/2007 14:14

IdrisTheDragon · 28/09/2007 14:15

I am trying to catch up on this thread. Unsuccessfully. But I see Mr F&Z was here last night.

ahundredtimes · 28/09/2007 14:29

Happy Birthday Franny

Happy Birthday TooT

Hurrah. Why hasn't anyone commented on the banner? Can you see it? Do you like the way I used banana skins to tie the mangos and plums together and ensured the bunches of grapes hang down artistically, have you seen the borage, have you?

Weird smell though.

SauerKraut · 28/09/2007 14:49

What will he be getting, Idris? My ds will be 11, and has had to be banned from talking about it until 24th Oct, otherwise nobody gets a word in edgeways about anything else until after the Most Important Event! His highlight is being allowed to choose his tea, and he plans his menu for weeks and weeks!

IdrisTheDragon · 28/09/2007 15:20

Not sure what DS will be getting. He has talked about a crane and a digger and probably other construction type vehicles.

He and I will be taking the day off childminder/work and going somewhere fun . Not sure what we will do yet but we are looking forward to it .

TooTicky · 28/09/2007 15:50

And 24th Oct is my ds2's birthday

3andnomore · 28/09/2007 16:01

well...so far again a complete lack of f&v...but we will have a yummy stew with loads of veggies...just the right thing for this weatehr.
Well...after lots of umming and aaaing...I have just called the University of Northamptonshire and asked for a prospectus and stuff for a Open day next week Saturday.
There are a few courses that interest me, Social Work, Occupational Therapy and Health & Exercise....and hopefully I will be able to find more about the funding of the course, etc...I am probably completely mad...but I do NOT want to return into NUrsing....everytime I think about it, my stomach turns...and by what I have read about nUrsing in teh Uk...well...it doens't make it anymore appealing.
Obviously if I really would go for it and study full time...then I would not be able to even contemplate the Antenatal Teacher course....but I suppose there is always still time to do that...especially if I would decide on Social work....it could be a good course to do later...
am I completely mad???????? I am not even that intelligent...lol....I must be mad.

Anyway, enough rambling on...how is everyone elses day?

SauerKraut · 28/09/2007 16:32

I will think of your ds2, TT, when my ds starts on his great month-long birthday lecture! How old will he be?

That all sounds frighteningly enterprising, 3! Good luck, whatever you choose. Certainly not mad, but brave! I did a course when dd1 was 1, it was hard work but very rewarding.

Carotte · 28/09/2007 17:50

Luvverly banner, 100x, are they organic plums?

3andnomore - I did both my degrees with children and it is really hard work but rewarding too. I think you are more driven as you have such an invested interest in getting through it, otherwise it's all a waste of time, and that seems so much more of a waste when you're older doesn't it? Perhaps that's a sign of getting old. The trick is to be super organised and together and have plans in place so when everyone says, 'hey, coming to the student bar?', you look cool and say 'um, dunno, oh go on then just a quick pint'. Whereas really your babysitters are on standby to get the text and collect your dc's from nursery and if no-one asks, you act even more cool and say 'bye guys' and slink off to the nursery and collect dc's on time. I miss the student bar.

I have had some celery.

Carotte · 28/09/2007 17:54

Boco - thank goodness foxinsocks mentioned it again, in my malaise I had missed your fantastic news. Well done!

filthymindedvixen · 28/09/2007 18:04

oh god, I have discovered scrabbulous. All is now lost....my children will be taken into care and i will be found, skeletally thin and welded to my PC chair...muttering ''Must. Use. Zzzzzzz''

FrannyandZooey · 28/09/2007 19:30

TooTicky · 28/09/2007 19:40

Franny, if you tell me about the sushi, I will go

And will be eating Hungarian apple cake shortly.

TooTicky · 28/09/2007 19:41

fmv, I'm finding the rest of MN rather lame atm. I like it in here though.
Especially with 100x's banner.

Carotte · 28/09/2007 19:49

I've eaten the banner.
