For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

She's dozing and crying and coughing and puking and dozing. She's coughing non stop. But is asleep at the moment. Done the bathroom steam thing once tonight, but for about an hour. Shes propped up with pillows and eucalyptus and vic type stuff on her chest.

ahundredtimes · 23/09/2007 23:32

Doctor tomorrow then, I think. Poor you, poor her.

lionheart · 23/09/2007 23:33

Going too. I hope the night is a restful one.

BBBee · 23/09/2007 23:33

someone says ibuprofen as it helps to decrease the swelling in the larynx

BBBee · 23/09/2007 23:34

steam bathroom yes but also dampen the air in the room so lots of wet towels strewn around the place on teh backs of chairs and stuff

Boco · 23/09/2007 23:34

They usually give her steroids - she's not had it since about april though. That was the first time they gave her antibiotics, and she had an anaphylactic reaction with the full on mouth swelling. Gawd.

BBBee · 23/09/2007 23:36

BBBee · 23/09/2007 23:36

oh boco I didnlt know you had been thourhg this before. So my thread advice is probably alraedy known to you.

BBBee · 23/09/2007 23:47

franny - do you still take the Kiki superfood supplement? can you tell me a bit about how it has helped?

FrannyandZooey · 24/09/2007 09:33

Morning BBB, it got me over that fearful virus thing I couldn't get rid of, do you remember? On a day to day basis it gives me energy (you can feel a real boost just after you take it, well I can anyway) and I seem to need less sleep and be slightly less moody when I remember to take it. I really believe in it - this winter will be the test I suppose. It isn't specifically claiming to protect from colds etc but I am hoping that and the elderberry extract are going to do the trick. I have the elderberry ready and am going to take it whenever we are with someone coldy, or if I feel slightly cold-ish.

Am eating plum, apple, pear, nectarine, raisins. We need a new thread soon don't we? Gosh.

SauerKraut · 24/09/2007 09:38

Morning! Haven't had f or v yet. What do you all have for breakfast- I need to be weaned off Italian breakfast biscuits and coffee. Moody is my middle name from October to March (begun early this year) so I will be interested to know how your magic stuff does over the winter too,F &Z.

SauerKraut · 24/09/2007 09:39

The croup sounds awful. Had it a lot with dd2, but never as badly as that, you poor things.

FrannyandZooey · 24/09/2007 09:44

SK I have muesli, or just plain oats, with added dried fruit and seeds, lots of chopped fresh fruit and soya milk. It makes a big bowlful

Am hoping small Boco is better this morning. What kind of a night did you have, Boco?

I don't know if this is relevant to anyone but children can take the superfood, too, and the elderberry extract. Check with your own doctor or health food shop person, obviously.

SauerKraut · 24/09/2007 09:58

That is more or less what the dcs get. With variations. Double standards or what. Although I often have it for morning snack. Must train brain to produce getting out of bed signals for muesli just as quickly as for coffee and biscuits!
I have two delicate dds who missed a lot of school last winter, so might try superfood thing.

filthymindedvixen · 24/09/2007 09:59

SauerKraut · 24/09/2007 10:02

Why, thank'ee kindly, FMV! Although I don't mind being unobtrusive Hope you enjoyed yourself.

FrannyandZooey · 24/09/2007 10:24

Morning FMF! Please regale us forthwith
sorry about the peaches thing, it was all a bit hectic at the end of the last thread - did you read it? There was dramatic cliff top rescues and all sorts. We couldn't leave the beetroots out after they had saved Carotte's life now could we?

SK am I right in thinking you don't want details of the meet up?

I have emailed everyone else who I think wants to know about the meet up. If you haven't got an email please let me know ASAP

SauerKraut · 24/09/2007 10:59

Unfortunately you are right, F&Z, I am presuming the meet-up is somewhere in the UK. Although I would love to dump the dcs with Dh for a weekend and bugger off, I don't think he would think it fair. I took my Granny to Paris last October and he was very kind, better not push my luck! I hope I will hear all about it afterwards , though.

Boco · 24/09/2007 11:22

FMV, can't wait to hear about your trip, was it great?

DD was bad until about 2am, then slept really soundly. I was prepared for her being ill today, but she was bounding around full of energy this morning. I, however feel very tired and a bit grumpy. I had this horrendous dream that a werewolf was picking off all the male members of my family one by one, every night. I feel disturbed, it was very real. Unhinged.

lionheart · 24/09/2007 11:59

Ooh, we want to hear about it fmv.

IdrisTheDragon · 24/09/2007 12:28

Afternoon .

Glad Boco-ette is feeling better today but not nice about the dream. I sometimes have hideous dreams which are very real.

Tomatoes, apple juice, raisins. So far .

Boco · 24/09/2007 12:29

Is it franny's birthday today?

3andnomore · 24/09/2007 12:30

Boco...so sorry to hear about your lil one...croup must be awful
Would medised maybe work....it's got antihistamine in it, which is meant to reduce swelling in general...

Toot...I am not glamorous at all...so don't you worry yourself...

Anyway...I have had some plums, a banana, a pear and carrots with..you guessed it by now...houmous again

It's ms first long day at school....he was sooo excited to be allowed to take his lunchbox today...lets hope he will eat his lunch though...
