For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Sorry, BBB, is it your ds, read that wrong somehow- thought it was 100x! [half asleep emoticon]
A subscription to Horrible Science magazine has been a great present for my ds- lasts all year! And he gets fancy sciency gadgets with each issue.

ahundredtimes · 26/09/2007 10:27

No we both have 8 y-o birthdays coming up SK. You were quite right.

BBee - true to form - is asking all the questions, and I am lurking and listening and taking notes.

I must go and do some work now.

really?

ds would be surprised if I got him tights. Was yours pleased?

ahundredtimes · 26/09/2007 10:29

How marvellous SK. Were they 10 dernier ones or something? Or woolen ones?

BBBee · 26/09/2007 10:30

i like your ds SK - I bet when he grows up he will be deviliishly eccentric and write fantastic poetry.

SauerKraut · 26/09/2007 10:31

He had a thing about tights at the time so was sheepishly delighted! Don't worry, wasn't suggesting it seriously!

SauerKraut · 26/09/2007 10:33

Well, now you come to mention it, they were sheer black ones. Found them full of holes shoved behind a shelf a few months later- obviously well worn!
Remind him of it these days at your peril!

BBBee · 26/09/2007 10:39

I love that SK - and I adore you for telling me.

SauerKraut · 26/09/2007 10:44

I'm not sure he would!
He is the only boy, the oldest and has 3 younger sisters, 2 of whom are only a few months behind him and each other- he loved the stuff they got to dress up in (we have always kept a corker of a dressing-up chest). We have some cool photos...

3andnomore · 26/09/2007 10:45

Hi All,
well, ys was, indeed, poorly yesterday...well, he was being sick...but is feeling better today and is back at Nursery
Oh, and what programme are you talking about?
As for f&v...so far grapes, a huge bunch and some strawberries
Oh, and no one complain about teh lenght of this post...you have to thank yourselfs for that, I can't help it if you all talk so much

100...hope the Party will go well
Lol, at considering doing a thread about the monopoly dog....our monopoly was the cheap version, that only had colourful plastic thingies...lol...
What you are saying about your Kids school...reminds me of that programme last year, where modern day students were put into a, I think, 1950 school...and it was reallyn interesting to see what they would make of it, etc...
And lollling at myself....because I read about Apple shop inBath, and it took me a moment to realise you meant an apple mac shop [bluch]

FMV...how cool is your son...brilliant!

Avi...aww...think is ms is a typical middlechild, and also he has a very loud, but high pitched voice, he never ever doesn't say anything (unless asleep) and he is also boystrous and a bit of the class clown....and well, if you hvae about 29 other little 4-5 year olds to manage, it must be difficult for the school...I know for a fact I could not be a Nursery teacher or Primary school teacher ever...I'd be grey and nervy, lol, and probably ready to be put into a psychatric Unit...! I did expect problems of the kind...but, well, am not used to be pulled aside by a teacher, whilst es is no angel, and didn't get on very well learning wise in school, his behaviour never ever ever was an issue...sigh....
Oh and what is Kamut bread?

Franny...but the plank is fun Although, don't think I could manage 2 minutes...

Boco...you are brave working with those Kids, lol.....shudder...lol...!
As for religion...my Kids go to a bog standard non religious school..!
But at teh Baby and sins thing....I think that is what the catholics believe, otehr chirstian churches have different beliefs with that, etc...
Ias for PC...I assume you have virus checked it and stuff liek that, and deleted all your cookies, etc...????

Wombling, tis a yapping lot here, don't you think ;)

BBBee, I only know the shoppping mall in Mitlton Keybes, and that is fabulous
What sort of stuff is teh 8 year old into? Maybe a nice Board game, or drawing stuff...

Pink, sorry you hurt your knee...I weas meant to exerfcise right now...but felt so cold when I came in and got myself a coffee and made the big mistake to get on here, and that is that...I really must get my butt out of bed in the mornings again...but it's so dark

((((((((((((Carotte)))))))))))))))) I really hope your boobs get better....

Lionheart...lol, at people getting recycled...although, I suppose in teh way we do...well...

Dior....WW...I have given up on it again...I went until teh Summerhols...but oh, just cna't be asked to rejoin now...

Overrun, Sweetcorn fritters sound yum I really like Parsnip Fritters, aswell!

Sauerkraut....repeat Kindergarten? Well, do you think she is behind...I mean, if you genuinely feel she is, I suppose repeating the fun Kindergarten might not be a bad thing.....but otherwise, I find that is quite an extremem measure...hm...

Lol Tatties...

Boco · 26/09/2007 10:52

I love the way you do that 3andnomore, you're so good at listening.

My arsing bloody computer is fucked. Wouldn't work at all last night. I went to bed at 6pm for 2 hours because my face hurts - i think i have sinsitus or something, headache behind eyes and teeth and cheek bones and feel shitty. Sorry to hear about the other headaches too. Dp was great, he made supper and fed girls and put them to bed. Going to go and buy drugs in a bit.

Computer started on about 14th attempt this morning. Thanks for offer 100 - i have no idea what it is, it just starts up fine, then freezes. dp says he'll try re-installing all the system software - but not until sunday! So, if i can't get back on, i may try real life for a bit. And if it doesn't work, i'll have to visit you all from the local library.

Maybe this is good, maybe i'll actually get stuff done, and do work, and be inspired, and have a clean home, and relate to my family in a meaningful way involving actual eye contact!

3andnomore · 26/09/2007 10:54

Avi sorry to hear you have a headache

Sauerkraut, how do you feel about it all?
And lol at your ds's feeling now, about the tights, lol....

BBBee...he could take the metal detector in the park and all th\at, could be fun Or the beach....

100, bionicle stuff, Dr Who stuff, Harry potter things, High School musical things, Yugiyo (sp?) cards...

3andnomore · 26/09/2007 10:55

Boco, sounds painful, you poor thing!
And argh at your PC....

SauerKraut · 26/09/2007 11:07

Hello 3, lovely to see you here again ! Sorry to hear about ill ds.
Well, I will await the results of all the tests with great interest, and I suppose, if she really is behind, and it will be better for her to repeat, we will accept it. I'm hoping it's just that she's laid back like Dh, although I have often suspected she's not ok health and developmentwise, but been told she's fine before- 2 years ago- by her doctor.
Know wnat you mean, Boco- I don't post a lot but I do lurk, and time just seems to disappear!

BBBee · 26/09/2007 11:14

when is LL back from holiday?

3andnomore · 26/09/2007 11:16

Sauerkraut...in the end there is no shame if she would have to repeat it, and if it meant that, when she starts she is ready properly, all the better

It's annoying when you have felt there was maybe an issue and weren't taken serious and then this...
I was pretty sure es had hearing issues,, and was treated as a over protective first time mom...well, he started school and the teacher mentioned she believed that he had hearing problems, I then told the GP and ooops...lets get him into ENT...turned out he had glue ear, but it sorted itself out without him needing a hearing aid or grommets...
Still think there might be issues with mild dyslexia...I suppose we will find out in time...
