For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Been here before with dd - nhs direct would just put us through to out of hours dr who would say either wait til morning and see gp, or drive to hospital 25 miles away. Not at that point yet but will if her breathing gets too wheezy. Nightmare not driving and living so far as it means all of us going including a sleeping dd1, or just dp doing it and not saying all the right things!

TooTicky · 23/09/2007 22:56

Franny, is that you with the mandala? Your ds is as delightful as ever. He looks very grown up and manly in the Thai flute one.

Boco · 23/09/2007 22:57

Bee i think you're right and we'd encourage each other. I don't get carotten being too sensible at all. It's stick in my head that she may be volatile.

FrannyandZooey · 23/09/2007 22:58

No it is some random hippie woman

I don't wear teatowels on my head in the name of being spiritual

yes ds is just superb. We were roaring at him asleep on the way home - he had dribble all down his chin(s)

FrannyandZooey · 23/09/2007 22:59

Sorry Boco Does steam help? I don't know much about croup but a friend used to take her dd into the bathroom, shut the door and put the shower on full blast nice and hot to make lots of steam

BBBee · 23/09/2007 22:59

there are loads of croup thread on here. One bit of advice was to wrap her in a blanket and take her outside as the cold air helps. It is all about steam as well.

IdrisTheDragon · 23/09/2007 23:00

I love it when DS and DD both fall asleep in the car .

BBBee · 23/09/2007 23:01

I think I must have made the whole carrot sensible thing up from thinking she prebooked a ticket. Okay she can;t live with me and boco and me and boco can;t live together.

carrot and boco?

Boco · 23/09/2007 23:02

I've tried the steam thing - in the bathroom. She had a long hot bath this evening, but no difference. Not heard the cold air thing - always thought that made it worse - will search for croup threads, thanks.

IdrisTheDragon · 23/09/2007 23:02

I will live a hermit like existence.

Carotte · 23/09/2007 23:03

now, the way you are imagining scenarios and outcomes and deciding that we can't all live together, BBBee, that is sounding very sensible indeed. Honestly. Trying to transpose all of your sense on me.

I'd still like to give it a try bee, you make it sound such fun, and carrot too - the commune, it'll be great.

ahundredtimes · 23/09/2007 23:04

okay, I think I've done it.

I have left off Luxor primary school, but this is dd and one of me.

ahundredtimes · 23/09/2007 23:04

oh FGS. Why is this so difficult?

BBBee · 23/09/2007 23:05

idris you must come - you can cut our hair!

Boco · 23/09/2007 23:05

Bee is sensible. She can do solo camping with children. You have to be totally sensible to manage that. Although mad to consider it in the first place.

BBBee · 23/09/2007 23:05

100 - scroll down to the bit where is says something like 'make this viewable to' and select all mumsnetters - that is how I was fucking it up.

Boco · 23/09/2007 23:06

100, by the picture, there's a box, about it being visible to everyone - is that looking right?

TooTicky · 23/09/2007 23:06

BBB, you have lots of curly hair and a big smile.

Carotte · 23/09/2007 23:07

100 - I don't believe you are trying at all. You are sitiing on the breakfast bar laughing at us waiting eagerly, leaning forward to our laptops and then communally sighing back again.

OP posts:
IdrisTheDragon · 23/09/2007 23:07

I will be in the grounds of the commune then. In my cave .

But I don't cut hair. I just have it cut. DDs fringe is now half way down her nose and I have no idea how to stop it. I am going to have to trim it myself I think as all hairdressers round here want to charge £11 which is silly .

Boco · 23/09/2007 23:07

Toot? Are you sure?

BBBee · 23/09/2007 23:07

hahahaha boco - you should ask my children - the solo camping thing was far from sane. ask my children!

lionheart · 23/09/2007 23:07

Boco it sounds stressy. Hope there is something on another thread.

Sorry about your bosom, MsC. It must seem unending (the trouble, that is).

Franny, your ds is yummy.

IdrisTheDragon · 23/09/2007 23:08

I am perched on the edge of my seat 100x (as much as you can be perched when you are inside an armchair).
