I adore it............consume it in bucket fulls and like a gorgeous man it takes over my life and leaves me feeling shite most of the time. Im fat, pasty , dry skinned and constantly tired and now it is starting to affect my work and home life. Yes I function very well and my children are happy and healthy cared for a lot of the time by a nanny as I work 60 to 70 hour weeks but I dont like myself very much and I know I could do so much better without this obession in my life.

So no more wine ( red or white ) or beer etc. Its gin and slimline tonics from now on and only at the weekend. Goes well with the weight watchers plan too.

Anyone else want to join me in suuport ?

Hi I have just seen this can I join? Have been thinking for a while that I have been drinking far too much (yes serious white win-o here), am exhausted after looking after kids all day (aged 4,3 and 2) = glass or two or three of WW = feeling more exhausted the next day. I have been doing weightwatchers and have lost 5lb but basically I was saving all my points for the alcohol and was existing on air. Not good. So am swearing off booze for a week cold turkey (till next Friday, then will only drink Friday and Saturday until further notice). Eeek it sounds serious typing it out like that. Will check back later.

BTW it is lovely to read all you nice normal people on this thread

jooleybee · 14/09/2007 19:51

nice to hear from you tiggy, im on ww too. Only started weds well done for losing 5lbs.

jooleybee · 14/09/2007 19:52

perhaps exhaustion is due to 3 small children, I am exhausted and have 1 big child.

fortunecookie · 14/09/2007 19:53

Today I have accepted my love affair with white wine will never end but also that if I don't buy it, I can't drink it.

sibble · 14/09/2007 19:53

jooleybee, we do get corrie but are about a year behind so I have to avoid like the plague all Corrie threads on here. although a friend here who gets tapes sent from England spoilt the biggy that's coming up with Charlie and Tracey. WIll still watch it though, it's my little bit of home problem is usually sit down with my wine and watch it

jooleybee · 14/09/2007 19:58

And why not, I because of reasons rugby am probably as up to speed with corrie as you are, no joking but tracy storylines were probably last time I actually watched regularly... excellent!

jooleybee · 14/09/2007 19:59

How come you are in NZ if you don't mind me asking (are we allowed to ask personal questions)?

jooleybee · 14/09/2007 20:11

Hello? Have I bored everyone again?

sibble · 14/09/2007 20:13

dh is kiwi and 5 years ago decided he wanted to 'come home'. lots of reasons his boy (my ss) was moving to Oz with his mum, 9/11 made communting into London to work scary for both of us (a friend was on the Aldgate tube that was bombed ) and I was knackered from working full time with an under 2 so we came.

jooleybee · 14/09/2007 20:16

and how are you finding it?

sibble · 14/09/2007 20:20

hated it at first, went from London where I have always lived or there abouts to 11 acres in hicksville - ok 20 mins from Auckland but trading packed tubes and lots of friends for paddocks of sheep and M&S, Harvey Nicks etc for Woolworths and KMart fuelled my love affair with wine 5 years later it's grown on me, mind you the summers, beaches and pool in the garden have helped

sibble · 14/09/2007 20:21

it can be a hard life but somebody's got to do it

jooleybee · 14/09/2007 20:26

Sounds wonderful!

sibble · 14/09/2007 20:33

trips home maintain my sanity though, anyway off to dunk the boys in the shower clear blue skies outside and ds2 is running around naked wanting to go outside on his bike. It's only 7.30, amazing how kids change your life 7.30am pre boys was the middle of the night, now we've been up 2 1/2 hours and are ready to head out for the day! Have a good evening.

jooleybee · 14/09/2007 20:41

Hope to see you again soon.

Franniban · 14/09/2007 20:49

So funny to read this thread, I am so glad I;m not the only one addicted to wine. Evey Monday morning, right that's it, no more wine until Friday, Monday evening, go round to the coop and get a bottle. I'm so weak. Really going to try next week, as off holiday, and desperate to shift some weight before Christmas, but as my dad says, we work so hard, that why shouldn't we have a glass or two. However, there in lies the problem, it;s never just a glass or two.......

jooleybee · 14/09/2007 20:52

lo

BarbieGirl · 14/09/2007 20:54

So who has cracked open a bottle of wine or similar tonight?

I am so weak and cracked a bottle of white wine. I am on my second wine & soda - I am so bloody weak.

jooleybee · 14/09/2007 20:59

i am half way through a bottle! had big plans for tonight but hey. Am feeling a bit low waiting to start a new job (Mon) and get a bit of my (pre child) life back

BarbieGirl · 14/09/2007 21:08

Do you reckon you will finish the bottle joleybee?

jooleybee · 14/09/2007 21:21

Of course!

WaynettaVonSlob · 14/09/2007 21:37

Evenin' all (in crap "Irish person doing cockney accent") (which may I just point out is probably a million times better than ANYONE doing an Irish accent )
Just in from a post-work drink thang....haven't drunk all week so was looking forward to it.
Started on a glass of white; it was vile. Glass of red: vile. Two possible conclusions either the wine was vile or else I was going off it.
So....am home now, drinking another glass of red : vile.
So, therefore, there is only one logical next step

Vodka and diet coke

jooleybee · 14/09/2007 21:49

perhaps you are coming down with a cold! Had a good eve?

jooleybee · 14/09/2007 21:49

mummypoppins · 15/09/2007 11:19

Hey Guys..............so glad I started this thread.....I have been useless at it!!

DH back now form a week abroad so I will really try this week.

Out for a meal tonight so will allow wine but back to G and T's tomorrow night !

It has really made me realise I am not alone in this.........we are all gonna die of liver failure!!

Anyway well doe to any of you that managed either one or more alcohol free nights or better stil manged to have only one glss when normally it would be a bottle. Its all about reversing the trend slowly but surely.

Remember Rome wasnt built in a day!!

By the way how depressing is this after a 63 hour week I am back in the office on Sat am and the sun is shining!!

Cheers

MP xx
