For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page.

oh my. I cannot begin to keep up with this. I shall sit in the corner and knit and nod kindly at you all while munching plums.

Monkey was a great show. I think nostalgia may cloud my judgmebt though. DH loves it and also The Water Margin which was similar but slightly more serious. he has a whole series of it on DVD, yawn.

lionheart · 04/09/2007 18:53

The novel that it was based on was Chinese (according to google).

Maxine Hong Kingston has a book called The Trip Master Monkey: His Fake Book which is takes up the same trickster story.

But isn't as good as The Woman Warrior: Memoir of a Childhood Among Ghosts, which I am always foisting on people and which is brilliant and post modern

(but not in a yawny, showy way).

FrannyandZooey · 04/09/2007 19:03

I'm sure it's fine in a postmodern hybrid way.

Yep. Pretty sure.

BBBee · 04/09/2007 19:16

I have a friend who is japanese and we laugh when she gets all her wprds mixed up and calls the teacher 'sexy' to his face - but then she laughs at me because my sushi falls to bits.

Oh no - maybe we are both racist.

BBBee · 04/09/2007 19:17

do you know though- if I saw a man in a monkey magic t-shirt I think I would find it quite attractive - not that I am making a move on your DP FZ (especially since I found out you are apparently a mumsnetter 'never to be crossed')

FrannyandZooey · 04/09/2007 19:19

Heh

and heh some more

You mean you haven't met Sicilian Franny yet?

FrannyandZooey · 04/09/2007 19:19

she was quite right though I AM never to be crossed

what would be the point?

OP posts:
lionheart · 04/09/2007 19:20

I just cross-posted with you. Am scared now.

Tatties · 04/09/2007 19:20

I know nothing about Monkey Magic but

I HAVE FOUND MY RING

My that has cheered me up this evening

lionheart · 04/09/2007 19:21

What ring?

FrannyandZooey · 04/09/2007 19:22

yay, where was it?

OP posts:
BBBee · 04/09/2007 19:22

oh wow - you list that ages ago - where did you find it?

(the discreet power of monkey magic)

filthymindedvixen · 04/09/2007 19:22

Hooorah! For finding your ring tatties It;s a great feeling, isn't it?

I like that T and Dh would love it F&Z. Don't see why it could be racist [ignorant] or [insensitive]

BBBee · 04/09/2007 19:22

(same as the one I got my sister BTW)

lionheart · 04/09/2007 19:27

It was just a little speculation, fmv.

Tatties · 04/09/2007 19:28

Well let's just say if I cleaned my house more often I would have found it much sooner

BBBee · 04/09/2007 19:34

where was it then?

Tatties · 04/09/2007 19:42

It was on top of a chest of drawers in amongst papers and stuff ... but I had already looked there I HAD

Tatties · 04/09/2007 19:47

Lionheart it's a ring dp gave me, very precious, and it has a tendency to go walkabout I always feel a bit niggly and weird when it's missing

BBBee · 04/09/2007 20:01

oh I always do things like that - DP has not bought me anything worth more than £20 as he knows I will lose it.

Glad you found it.
