For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Tranquila · 20/08/2007 21:06

have eaten roughly 4 portions (think i may be being generousthere. cant bear to add up for real. prefer to be vaguely failing than specifically so)
have exercised... for...ok, no i havnt.

do i get put in the hole or something?

i grew some vegetables today... does that help??

MrsCarrot · 20/08/2007 21:07

That was dinner, lunch was sushi and salad and fruit and juice, easily four portions, breakfast was kiwi, nectarine, apple and banana, and mid morning snack was brazil nuts with raisins, so 12 or so?

Franny - I think we deduced that lemon in WARM water was extremely good for you did we not? I will look it up again. I had two pints of that yesterday.

Tranquila · 20/08/2007 21:08

there was a girlin my class at Anna Sheres (sp??) who changed her name to Tika Thika Bloss (again, sp?)
or so it was said.
i didnt know her personally. they were big classes.

lionheart · 20/08/2007 21:09

Yes, what is crying chocolate?

I am on nine now.

FrannyandZooey · 20/08/2007 21:12

MrsCarrot I am ashamed that you looked it up for me last time and I still can't remember it. So should I be letting the water cool down first? How much? I think Boco should have some too, it is good for your liver apparently.

Lionheart HOORAH. Company salute for you my girl.

Tranquila I will overlook your deficiencies today but TOMORROW......you have been warned

OP posts:
MrsCarrot · 20/08/2007 21:12

Oh, no need for . This chocolate is so delcious it actually made me cry the first time I ate it but I am a bit of a freak, and I was pre-menstrual It is very good. Rose and geranium.

My name sounds crap with dh's name. It is ok as it is with my surname that I quite like but famille would like me to have the same one, and I would if I liked the whole thing iyswim. I thought the answer might be to change the first one. People hav been very negative about it.

FrannyandZooey · 20/08/2007 21:13

oops MrsCarrot have a medal. Or something. Shall I get one of the others to fag for you? And bring you more chocolate?

OP posts:
lionheart · 20/08/2007 21:13

I am gnawing my way through the tenth right now (carrots). Will probably get beaten later for being such a yes-woman.

FrannyandZooey · 20/08/2007 21:14

Dp and I have different names; it doesn't seem to matter, really. I think people are rude to have an opinion on it, tbh

FrannyandZooey · 20/08/2007 21:15

Blackberries (1)
Tomato, fennel, courgette, onion, lentil, apple sauce (4?)

OP posts:
lionheart · 20/08/2007 21:17

TooTicky · 20/08/2007 21:18

TooTicky · 20/08/2007 21:19

Oh, I LOVE that geranium chocolate!

EricL · 20/08/2007 21:20

I've just sunk 10 pints of Carling. Does that count?

I'm pretty sure it's made from a grain of some sort.

(although at this point i am pretty sure that i am the master of the universe - so maybe i should get my coat.......)

FrayedKnot · 20/08/2007 21:20

FrayedKnot went to row, went to row for 10 mins

DollyPopsOut · 20/08/2007 21:24

I am afraid that both my kids have had all their jabs.... not without much soul searching but it seemed like the best thing for them based on the info available. I like the idea of homeopathy, but am scared of many of the ingredients. For example, I know a lot of people who take St John's Wort freely, yet what I have read about it suggests that it is actually rather a difficult drug which needs to be used with caution? OTOH, I ate arnica by the tonne after I had DD2 and can't rate it highly enough.

Names - I am resolutely sticking to my own surname. DH anad the DDS have one surname and I have another. Mine is exotic and theirs is dull, and mine is also, well, mine and as such part of my identity. Franny, I know what you mean about your name being from the Karen era - so is mine. I don't think I have heard of anyone with my name who is under 30. My name was v popular from about 1965 to 1975 (because of an actress( and since then nada. Said actress is still around though so perhaps a revival is due.

I have had 2 portions and am about to have another 3 for dinner. In my defence, I have a sicknote and WILL DO BETTER tomorrow .

MrsCarrot · 20/08/2007 21:25

Yes, it is extremely delicious, I will bring it Lionhart, and we will have a midnight feast. We will use Franny's lemon water and make Hooch!!

lemons I think it doesn't matter so much about the hot water because it's the cleansing properties of the lemon that's helping the kidneys/liver etc, and if the heat affects the vit c it's more beneficial to have hot water in the system first thing combined with astringence than the vit c. You can always just eat an extra kiwi or something. I doubt very much you are lacking in that vitamin!

Tatties · 20/08/2007 21:28

Is no-one going to guess what my name is?

Anyway I have been to the gym [smug]

FMV! I missed you, great to have you back

I am going to eat a bit more fruit then give you my f&v total in a bit sir

FrannyandZooey · 20/08/2007 21:29

FrayedKnot YAY! You can have extra rations tomorrow for that

EricL my moustache is giving you its hardest stare

Dolly where is your sicknote? Have I seen it? I have not. Must try harder tomorrow I think. I may look more leniently upon you if you drop more hints as to your name as it is bugging me now

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 20/08/2007 21:31

yes good points MrsC

why is it beneficial to have hot water in the system? Should I drink it first thing before breakfast, then? I don't think I can be arsed, until ds can be trained to go downstairs and make it. Few years yet I reckon, although he gave me a massage today

Tatties YAY, let the gym boasting commence. I had a great time.

OP posts:
SaggyPossum · 20/08/2007 21:36

rose and geranium chocolate? Where? WhERE? WHERE??

Pleeeease tell me where one can procure such a marvel.
oh arse, this is the healthy thread, righty ho,

managetout & sweetcorn salad at lunch, alarmingly large salad for supper with lettuce, cucumber, celery, sprouted seeds, feenel (about 4 portions I think, twas a veritable ziggurat of vegetables) followed by plums & melon, now a few prunes & some yoghurt before bed.
I am stuffed.
Still fancy a bit of that crying chocolate though...

Total = 9/10

Walked two miles with two stone of DS in sling.

and you are all wrong about my name, it's Dwayne, goes with the tattooes and my 10 tonne truck parked out the front.

lionheart · 20/08/2007 21:37

Tatties = Ellen
